Is there any way to separate alerts for text messages and email? I've called Verizon Support and looked for apps without success. I don't care when I get an email but I have missed several texts because the alert tone is the same and I just ignored it thinking it was more unimportant email.

I am trying to figure out a way to be able to have a separate notification tone for email, text and calendar alerts on my Epic. Can anyone help? On my Moment I was able to create folders (ringtones, alerts, notifications, etc) on my SD card, but I was not sure if this will work on the Epic as well.

Why is it that I have an separate icon for GMAIL, EMAIL , and MESSAGES? Why is Gmail separate from the "email" icon? and why can't I have my email and gmail as an icon in my messages box which currently houses the universal inbox, facebook, and twitter, and text messaging?

I have tried different profile applications but it looks like they just generically turn off "notifications" which looks like both email and SMS notifications. I know I can go in and manually silence the email and the other notifications each time but I wanted to find an easier way. I get important SMS messages from work at all hours but thats all I want to hear.

I would prefer to have a different sound for my emails than my SMS messages, but I cannot find anywhere to do this. Under 'settings', 'notification ringtone', Droid is set as the sound.
Is this where the email and SMS incoming notifications are set? And can you use different ringtones for these?
I do have a few questions about the phone. i was wondering if there is a way to make text messages alerts show up on my screen. i have an app that shows if i have one unread but it is pretty small. every other phone i've had had a pretty big notification for texts. also is there a way to have the screen light up when you get a text? there is a sound that plays when i get a text, but the screen does not light up. not sure if im just missing something, but is there a way to set different tones for different notification? right now the same thing plays when i plug my phone in, that plays when i get a text. none of these are huge issues, but i am just curious if there is a way to make some changes on the phone. im sure ill figure it out or just get used to it.

Also, is there a spell check on this thing? I saw a setting under 'qwerty' but it requires predictive text to be on, which is a no go for me.

The phone will vibrate for calls... Rooted, running the latest Lithium Mod ROM with Chevy's ulv 1.2 kernel. So far I have three email accounts including my gmail account on my eris. When I first setup my msn, and school email I was able to separate the accounts into two separate icons. All my gmail based accounts are showing up with HTML formatted messages as they should but all of the HTML formatted messages on my exchange account end up looking like markup language. I turned off the accept all certs and I'm now able to properly download attachments from exchange just not able to get HTML emails to display properly.

Now that has stopped completely. If I want to check for new email messages I have to manually start the email app and manually select refresh for the app to go out and look for new messages (via Yahoo pop mail). What happened? I was told that any text message sent to me that is larger than the standard 160 characters, would be split up into two or more messages. This is not happening on my phone, and I'm wondering if this is an OS problem, phone problem, or if I just need to call Verizon to have them investigate?

I can access my AOL, Comcast and obviously Gmail with no problems on my Droid. However I want to be able to access my companies email I have set up through powweb.com (they host my website). Anyway I keep getting error messages that it could not finish set up or sometimes it says Error: check user and password details. I triple checked and made sure I was putting in the right info and then I even went on the powweb website and made sure I was putting in the correct settings and even contacted someone there and they gave me some info to try and help and I am still getting error messages. I have tried POP and IMAP. The exchange account, is a fee based account.

Anyway, I've been without a working device for a week now as I wait for my DX to arrive. I just check voice mail a couple times a day to make sure I'm not missing anything important. On the other hand, I have to imagine I have a serious back log of texts. A buddy of mine said he thought the DX (which my wife currently has) could be configured to retrieve texts from more than one account (phone number). Is that possible? Is there any other way to retrieve text messages other than with an activated device?
