I am trying to figure out a way to be able to have a separate notification tone for email, text and calendar alerts on my Epic. Can anyone help? On my Moment I was able to create folders (ringtones, alerts, notifications, etc) on my SD card, but I was not sure if this will work on the Epic as well.

Is there any way to separate alerts for text messages and email? I've called Verizon Support and looked for apps without success. I don't care when I get an email but I have missed several texts because the alert tone is the same and I just ignored it thinking it was more unimportant email.

I have tried different profile applications but it looks like they just generically turn off "notifications" which looks like both email and SMS notifications. I know I can go in and manually silence the email and the other notifications each time but I wanted to find an easier way. I get important SMS messages from work at all hours but thats all I want to hear.

I figured out how to add custom ringtones for alerts and calls but I cant for the life of me figure out how to set one for text, a different one for gmail, a different one exchange and so on. any ideas? Also, is there a spell check on this thing? I saw a setting under 'qwerty' but it requires predictive text to be on, which is a no go for me.

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust picked this up yesterday and I'm very impressed. This is my first droid phone and it blows away the other phones I've owned in the past. Not really a fan of the iPhone and have been on AT&T forever..it's time for a change. My last phone was a Nokia E72 which is a great phone, but wanted more! Gonna put that on E-bay soon hah.
The only complaints I have so far are the notification sounds are quiet even at the max volume setting. The Nokia E72 is a lot louder both in ringtone and sms tones. Also, the four buttons on the bottom sometimes don't respond. I find I have to occasionally hit the same button a couple times to get it to work. Very minor tho imo. It's not too frequent.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to move an ogg notification to the Epic's internal memory so it will play when the SD card is mounted, but I can't move it to the /system/media/audio/notifications folder. I think it's due to NAND not being unlocked? I have root access. tried creating a /media/audio/notifications folder in internal memory and I could move the file to that folder, but neither rings extended nor ringdroid will see it in that location. Is there someway that this is possible, or do we have to wait for NAND unlock? Surely this is an issue that lots of other people have had.

I have one gmail account, another mail account with google apps and a yahoo mail account, so my contacts are spread around. So I made a separate gmail account just so that I could fetch all contacts at one place and delete the ones I dont need, and then do selective contact sync with android device. I will also use this account to back up my SMS's and any other kind of data that can be backed up in cloud.
I wanted to ask you guys when setting up the device, should I use my newly created gmail account as primary account or the one that I am using on daily basis?? My main concern is that once I bought apps with one account, I wont be able to use another account again later, so I want to get it right from the start. Also, can android still use calender and email from my other gmail accounts as primary calender/email??
it looks like its an Android bug, but my alarm & my calendar alerts are not working correctly, as well as CalWidget. My Google Cal & the Cal on the phone are correct. I had to reboot to get the time updated to what it should be today.

View 16 Replies View RelatedMy wife has a new EPIC upgraded in the past week or so from a Samsung Moment.It appears that the stock EPIC calendar app has only ONE alarm/reminder.I have an EVO and use Jorte but the stock calendar app on my EVO and Jorte allow MULTIPLE reminders for a single calendar event (e.g., a 10 minute alarm, a 3 hour alarm and a 1 day alarm).Apart from her installing and using Jorte, does the EPIC stock calendar app have ONLY ONE alarm for a calendar event?

A couple days ago i noticed my phone was silent, which is pretty unusual.I decided to check and see if i had any messages, hit the power button, and saw no little message icon waiting for me. I figured no one had texted me so i moved on. About a half hour later i checked again only this time went in to the messages app thingie and had three unread messages, all of which had come up within the last thirty minutes.Ive been checking it more often now and it does vibrate, but the little icon doesnt stay up long/at all. Any idea what im doing wrong? Its getting kinda annoying not knowing if i have a message or something.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI work in IT at my company and support mobile devices and their connection to our exchange server.One of our employees got the Epic 4g and she continues to have issues with ActiveSync not downloading emails right away. For example, this morning she had about 25 emails come in and on her Epic it showed the last email being from yesterday. I tried to manually refresh the email on the phone and it did not download any new emails. I rebooted the phone and it started downloading all her emails. This is not the first time this has happened. This is a normal occurrence for her. It will not download anything for a few hours to a few days then download everything at once.I know it is not an issue on our side as we have about 20 iPhones and about 15 Android devices working fine including my Evo. So far, she is the only one in our company with an Epic however we have about 3 employees that are about to leave their Blackberries and iPhones for the Epic and I have told them to hold of until we resolve this issue.

Is there a way to show a list of my contacts when forwarding or at least a way to forward to a group? I have groups set up, but there doesnt seem to be a way to access them when forwarding. I have tried every option and every menu and cant find out how to do this on the Epic?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI do have a few questions about the phone. i was wondering if there is a way to make text messages alerts show up on my screen. i have an app that shows if i have one unread but it is pretty small. every other phone i've had had a pretty big notification for texts. also is there a way to have the screen light up when you get a text? there is a sound that plays when i get a text, but the screen does not light up. not sure if im just missing something, but is there a way to set different tones for different notification? right now the same thing plays when i plug my phone in, that plays when i get a text. none of these are huge issues, but i am just curious if there is a way to make some changes on the phone. im sure ill figure it out or just get used to it.

Is there a way to remove "my calendar" or at least make my google account calendar the default one? Why is this redundant "my calendar" even in the picture? It is a useless pos.
