I figured out how to add custom ringtones for alerts and calls but I cant for the life of me figure out how to set one for text, a different one for gmail, a different one exchange and so on. any ideas? Also, is there a spell check on this thing? I saw a setting under 'qwerty' but it requires predictive text to be on, which is a no go for me.

I have an HTC Hero. Is there a way to set different sounds. 1 for messages, 1 for email, 1 for weather alerts Etc. I have caller ID rings but all my notifications are the same sound. My Blackberry did this. To think my HERO could not would be unthinkable.

I'm trying to se up both my hotmail and yahoomail email accounts so as I can view my messages on my Desire but I'm not having any luck. When I go into Messages and enter my email and correct password I keep getting the message: 'Cannot connect to the mail server to verify your account information. Your server is not responding'.What do I have to do to sort this out? The HTC Desire online manual is very vague and brief with anything regarding troubleshooting.

I notice its going to grab all the new emails and it doesn't let you view your old ones, you would have to go into the Internet and into the email account to see those old ones. Also I want to prevent it from syncing with my email too often and only want to manually pull in my email.

I only ask as i wish to connect to my Uni email address and the IMAP settings are restricted on undergraduate accounts, so cant sync in the usual way via IMAP. However, people who have BB's at uni have no issue in connecting to their emails. On asking the IT guys why this is they explained "The reason people are able to use Blackberry?s is due to the fact that they provide there password to an external company to access there mail on behalf of them which is strongly against the terms and conditions of there university account, and as a result should not be doing this at all." Essentially i need an app that mimics this. his new HTC desire?
I have multiple gmail accounts. Anything besides my main account. I have trouble pulling up the content on my phone. Should I set it from IMAP to POP to resolve this? It is very frustrating because it just spins and spins and nothing comes up. What email handler works best on the Captivate?

Therefore I have to use exchange active sync to sync my work calendar whilst I am at work.
To access emails outside of work with have a email route setup and a external email host.
The short is I have to add 2 accounts under the same email address. One which will connect to the work network locally over wifi and the other that will just allow me to view work emails externally.
This has worked fine previously but since my phone has been updated to 4.4 kitkat when adding the second account it pops up with a error message about duplicate accounts.
How can i bypass this message and add the second account?
I have my Incredible set up to synchronize with my work's exchange server. I have a ton of meetings, and I rely upon the phone's 10-minute reminder to play an alert sound before each meeting. This is very handy. What I don't like is that there is no way to set the frequency (i.e., the repeat) for the audible calendar event reminders. It seems like they will just keep going off forever every 5 or 10 minutes, even after the meeting has started, until I hunt my phone down, turn it on, slide the screen lock down, slide the notification area down, select the reminder, and select "Dismiss". And then when my next meeting comes up again, same issue. It was driving me crazy, to the point that I simply turned off the reminder notifications entirely. Is there any way I can tell this phone, "When there is a meeting in ten minutes, please play exactly 3 audible reminder alerts: 10 minutes before, 5 minutes before, and when the meeting time has started.

Is there a setting that I am missing?
Is there any way to separate alerts for text messages and email? I've called Verizon Support and looked for apps without success. I don't care when I get an email but I have missed several texts because the alert tone is the same and I just ignored it thinking it was more unimportant email.

So far, everything is going well and I'm getting used to the software and functionality. I do have one thing that has me stumped though. I setup my personal hotmail email and my work email on the phone and they are both under the "mail" icon on the main screen. I'm wondering if there is a way to separate them so that I will basically have 2 "mail" icons on the main screen.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a setting or an app to better control what sound goes to my Bluetooth headset? I've got a Jabra Extreme, but I've not been able to find a method to have just voice go out.
Frequently I'll be in the car, and even when I have the Incredible plugged into my car stereo, it still puts music out through my Bluetooth connection and not the headphone jack. Under Bluetooth settings it says "Jabra Extreme Connected to phone and media audio", but there doesnt seem to be a way to say no no bad droid, phone only.

When I go into both individual settings for text and email it allows me to change the sound notification but it wont save it. I can change it and then back out of it and if I go right back into it, it keeps defaulting back. It wont save the sound I am changing it to?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy SII. I updated to the stock ICS last week, and ever since the update, my text notifications and email notifications will periodically mute themselves. Screen still lights up, notification is still in the notification bar, but no sound.
I've changed the settings to ensure I have them correct several times. I did a master reset as well. Doing a hard reset will fix the issue temporarily, but it always goes back to not working.
I've had this happen to me twice now over the past week. It seems that periodically my notification sounds will stop. I will see that I have new emails but never heard the sound. I will then go send myself a test text message and it will vibrate but make no sound. I've made sure all my volumes are up, and even went in to pick a notification sound and it will work fine in the sound chooser when I pick it.
I also noticed both times that it did this if I go in to Spare Parts or Battery History and look my phone is staying awake and Android Usage is the one with the partial wake lock. Generally I don't have any sleep issues, it only happens when my notification sounds have also quit working. The only way to fix it is power off and back on and then all is good again.
Is it possible to put my own sound for sms alerts if so how do i do it?

It still plays a sound AND vibrates, and that's driving me nuts. 2) Is there a way for the "native" alert sound management software to recognize imported files for alerts?
