i just got the moto droid and cannot figure out how to set different sounds for texts and email alerts if anyone knows how to do this or if you can do this.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI tried using home switcher to make calls but the same problem occurs. I can make a call, If I try to make a call after, the phone will lag on dialing then if it does connect I can't hear. If I receive a call it will answer but no sound. This happened after 2.1. I even did a factory reset and followed the upgrading instructions, everything else is fine except for this.

Is it possible to use your own sounds for incoming messages and alerts?I know you can assign individual ring tones to people in your address book and change the default ring tone, however I would like to know if there is a way to do that for incoming message sounds and so on.Any help or insight?Also Crossposted due to their being 2 areas of interest
Just wondering if there is a way to have a different sound for each alert, similar to a blackberry. Eg. A sound for alarm, text, email, each different. I don't want my calendar using my quiet sms ringtone.

When I detect it, I have the fun going through setting the noises back to what I want. This is annoying. I thought when I set the sounds they were "saved" somewhere. View 7 Replies View RelatedI want to move an ogg notification to the Epic's internal memory so it will play when the SD card is mounted, but I can't move it to the /system/media/audio/notifications folder. I think it's due to NAND not being unlocked? I have root access. tried creating a /media/audio/notifications folder in internal memory and I could move the file to that folder, but neither rings extended nor ringdroid will see it in that location. Is there someway that this is possible, or do we have to wait for NAND unlock? Surely this is an issue that lots of other people have had.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I was cycling home from work listening to some music on my Desire through the headphones via Meridian music player. During the trip home the music muted for 10 seconds or so and then re-started. I checked the phone and noticed that I had a missed call. My phone was set to vibrate only. I didn't feel it vibrate in my pocket whilst cycling. When I've listened to music before I've always heard some notification through the headphones when a call, text or email has come through but I can't be sure that the phone was on vibrate on these occasions.
Can anyone confirm that when using the headphones with the phone on vibrate you will not get an audible notification when a call, text or email comes through? If this is the case its a bit annoying because if its an email I am happy to wait till I get home but if its a call I want to take it straight away. With no audible notification you have no way of knowing whats come through.
I'm looking for an App that repeats (audibly) that I have a text message or email.

Switching over from a storm and with the storm i could set contact alerts for text messages and separate ringtones for when they call with the droid i have found there is only one text message alert and you cannot set individual alerts for text messages.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA couple days ago i noticed my phone was silent, which is pretty unusual.I decided to check and see if i had any messages, hit the power button, and saw no little message icon waiting for me. I figured no one had texted me so i moved on. About a half hour later i checked again only this time went in to the messages app thingie and had three unread messages, all of which had come up within the last thirty minutes.Ive been checking it more often now and it does vibrate, but the little icon doesnt stay up long/at all. Any idea what im doing wrong? Its getting kinda annoying not knowing if i have a message or something.

The regular I want notifications the other not. I have downloaded the yahoo app. Is there anyway to have two yahoo apps. The gmail is being used for important emails and the HTC mail is being used for work exchange mail so neither is available.

The phone will vibrate for calls... Rooted, running the latest Lithium Mod ROM with Chevy's ulv 1.2 kernel. I am coming from BB Storm 2 where i could have every email, sms, mms, whatever from any contact display a different LED light/pattern and make a different noise depending on who it is coming from. Here on my Droid X i have one alert noise, for EVERYTHING. And no LED tweaking.
I DL'd Blink...which was useless, didn't display 3/4 of the colors it was supposed to do. Uninstalled. I had heard HandcentSMS lets you customize stuff...kinda. I could finally make my SMS make a differnt noise then any other alert. But still can't customize it per person/sender. I could tweak the LED thankfully. But this only affects SMS. Not email. And it too didn't display all the colors it had listed
Ringdroid lets me make every caller have a differnt ringtone (cool), and i can save alerts, but not custom per person. Are there any apps out there that let me customize alerts for email/mms/sms and so forth. So i can have it blink the LED a differnt color from certain people and make a noise when said email, mms, sms is from certain people? Or am i just SOL and need to deal with the fact that i can't do that on a Droid?
In so many ways this phone is lightyears ahead of my Storm 2...but in so many other ways it is far more basic and simplistic in many things and doesn't allow the customization.
I installed the Advanced Task Killer because there wasn't a logout function for the Yahoo Mail App and the alerts were going like crazy; however, I needed the alerts for my work email due to oncall. However, now I'm not getting any sound alerts or vibrate, etc for my new email messages and this is very important.
Does anyone know how I can enable the alerts and get them working again. I have uninstalled the Advanced Task Killer and powered off the phone, but the email alert notifications unfortunately are still not working.

What would be the best for yahoo & hotmail? I'd like to have it push the emails instantly, but I'm okay with it being like a 5-10 minute delay. I noticed that when I set my yahoo address up on their given email program, it doesn't always show the HTML pictures in the message so I don't always get the email the way I'd like it to. Some come up, others don't, its weird.
So I was just wondering what the best email program would be to use to get what I want?
I would like the phone to alert me approx every 5 minutes that there is an unread text. My phone alerts that I have a new text but I also want it to alert me again if I don't hear the first alert. Is there a way to do this?

Also, is there a spell check on this thing? I saw a setting under 'qwerty' but it requires predictive text to be on, which is a no go for me.
