HTC EVO 4G :: Turning Off Email Alerts
Aug 6, 2010Since the upgrade I get email alerts (gmail and yahoo) everytime I get an email. I have looked and looked and cant' find where to turn it off at.

Sprint HTC Hero :: Volume Control For Turning Off Sound Alerts
Nov 9, 2009Does anyone else find it annoying when your in a meeting or lecture or church and someone tries to turn down the volume on their phone, only to have the phone beep with every change in volume? Is there any way to turn off this volume response when using the volume controls on the side of the Sprint Hero? Likewise, any way to turn off the sound when turning the phone on/off?

Jul 23, 2010Are there any good apps out there for Customized SMS/Email alerts? I am coming from BB Storm 2 where i could have every email, sms, mms, whatever from any contact display a different LED light/pattern and make a different noise depending on who it is coming from. Here on my Droid X i have one alert noise, for EVERYTHING. And no LED tweaking.
I DL'd Blink...which was useless, didn't display 3/4 of the colors it was supposed to do. Uninstalled. I had heard HandcentSMS lets you customize stuff...kinda. I could finally make my SMS make a differnt noise then any other alert. But still can't customize it per person/sender. I could tweak the LED thankfully. But this only affects SMS. Not email. And it too didn't display all the colors it had listed
Ringdroid lets me make every caller have a differnt ringtone (cool), and i can save alerts, but not custom per person. Are there any apps out there that let me customize alerts for email/mms/sms and so forth. So i can have it blink the LED a differnt color from certain people and make a noise when said email, mms, sms is from certain people? Or am i just SOL and need to deal with the fact that i can't do that on a Droid?
In so many ways this phone is lightyears ahead of my Storm 2...but in so many other ways it is far more basic and simplistic in many things and doesn't allow the customization.
Android :: No Email Or Message Alerts
May 6, 2010I have stopped receiving email and message alerts. No sound, no vibrate, no icon on the status bar at the top of the phone, no blinking green light when the screen is off. It is as if the phone does not know I have email or messages.

Oct 4, 2010I installed the Advanced Task Killer because there wasn't a logout function for the Yahoo Mail App and the alerts were going like crazy; however, I needed the alerts for my work email due to oncall. However, now I'm not getting any sound alerts or vibrate, etc for my new email messages and this is very important.
Does anyone know how I can enable the alerts and get them working again. I have uninstalled the Advanced Task Killer and powered off the phone, but the email alert notifications unfortunately are still not working.

Apr 30, 2010I figured out how to add custom ringtones for alerts and calls but I cant for the life of me figure out how to set one for text, a different one for gmail, a different one exchange and so on. any ideas? Also, is there a spell check on this thing? I saw a setting under 'qwerty' but it requires predictive text to be on, which is a no go for me.

Nov 17, 2009I see another thread on Locale, but it seems to be focused on it technical shortcomings. I thought a thread about how people are using this app would be helpful.
Now... I use Locale for the following:
- Turning the ringer down when I get to work (obviouse one)
- Turning GPS/Bluetooth/wifi on when I plug it in the phone (think car dock)
- Turn on Wifi when I get near my known hot spots.
- Turn off GPS/Bluetooth/wifi off and turn down brightness when my battery is low.
And the last one is a good one for me...
- I have a GV number. When I call my phone from that number, it turns the ringer volume all the way up and it turns on wifi and GPS. This is my "lost phone aid". It turns on the locating features so I can see where the phone is using iGoogle and Latitude, and I can hear the phone if it is "in the cushions" on vibrate.
Anyone else get creative with Locale?

Jun 1, 2010When I trun my phone on, the scene changes from the scene I had chosen (the waving grass) to "current (unsaved)".If I change it to the one I prefer (saved with my name) I am asked to "save or cancel" the incorrect one.I click cancel, and all is well.But why does it change and how do I keep the scene selected that I want?I just want it to stick on the scene that I have chosen.

Jan 18, 2010I've had my Hero just over a month now and yesterday for the first time i received a facebook notification on my Hero. Since i have had my phone I've never seen this. I normally get a notification telling me that i have a new email which sometimes is an email from facebook telling me i have a new invite or what ever. But this notification was a facebook specific one, it had an icon of an 'F' (of Facebook). Does anyone know what option needs to be turned on so that you get Facebook notifications on your Hero? I obviously switched something on which is no longer running cause im no longer getting this notifications.
