Motorola Droid :: Individual Text Message Tones And Ringtones?
Nov 12, 2009
on my storm I was not only able to set an individual ringtone for my contacts I was also able to set an individual text message tone for them as well. Is there any way to do this on the droid or a third party program available? Also, these are very simple. Is there any way or app out there that when i plug my phone in it will make a full screen clock like it does on blackberries? (in the picture of the phone in the media dock--that I don't have it shows something similar to what I want) Next, How do I choose different ringtones for my alarms. There are not that many to choose from in the list and I don't like any of them. Oh actually and I just thought of another one:some of my contacts are not linked to my facebook contacts, some are, how do I manually add facebook to a contact. (I only know of hitting the sync button on facebook, but that doesn't have any manual select setting)

In the root of your SD card create the following folders
Notifications
Ringtones
Alarms
In these folders put your favourite MP3 files. You can now use these MP3 files as per the topic.
Notifications - Message tones and Notification tones
Ringtones - Your phone ringtones
Alarms - Your alarm mp3s
Using these folders there is no need to play the MP3 files first in Music Player.

I normally don't like making new threads to ask questions about stuff if the info is already out there, but unfortunately, I can't seem to find the info I'm looking for anywhere. I've googled and done searches and manually looked through the threads here on AF I even checked the documentation the X came with. My Fiancee just got the X and was setting it up and she was looking for a way to set up individual ringtones for certain contacts the way she had them set up on her Droid but there doesn't seem to be an option to do it on the X. Does anyone happen to know anything about this?

Picked up my Droid this morning and cannot figure out how to set a ringtone for calls received from a contact. I can set the general ringtone, but not any contact-specific ringtones. The manual (page 21) says it is doable: "Tip: When editing a contact, you can set a ringtone, address, and other details that will be saved on your phone."but I find nothing in the edit contact screen that lets me select a ringtone for it.Can anyone give me the steps?

I have been looking to try to choose one of my ringtones for notification confirmations as well as received calls. All that I have found are the OS ringtones for those 2 operations. (ringtone: DROID)
I have found how to choose from my custom ringtones only for individual contact. how I can get my ringtones to be seen or where to place them so that the Droid sees them?

I need to have each individual message show up in its own thread not connected to others from same sender. I get fire department texts that need to be read and replied to in non thread format. Otherwise I will be responding to the entire group of messages that could be sent from different users using the same name.

I currently have my gmail set to play a tone called "green tunnel" as its notification and my sms to play "life mushroom." Under the main settings tab, the default notification tone is "silent." For some reason when I get a text message, I'm hearing "green tunnel" and "life mushroom" at the same time.

Newbie here - just found this forum, and have a million and one questions about my Xperia X10 that I am getting increasingly frustrated with. Hope you can help.
1st off - And I apologise if this is answered properly elsewhere, but I can't find a satisfactory answer! How the hell can I choose what SMS tone is used for each individual contact; and how can I set it to silent for some contacts?? Please - is there a definitive guide anywhere??
One would expect to go into Phonebook, select the contact, press Edit, and have an option for SMS tone - but no!!
Ideally, I would like to set the SMS tone to silent for most contacts - so I got "Tone Picker". But even using Tone Picker, Set Notifications, Complete action using Tone picker, select Silent - DOES NOT WORK!!! I still get the notification tone on all texts! And Tone picker doesn't allow me to set the SMS tone per contact.

Samsung double time and Motorola.
How do we set a text message ringtone? When we text, all we get is a goofy little chime and the phones vibrate. I'll never hear that thing in my purse.I went to settings>notifications and set a soundbite I want to use after transferring it to the media>notifications folder, and when I get e-mails, it worked. But not for texting.
Also, what forum do I use for the double time? What is rooting, and do we need to do it? We got the phones through AT&T and they work fine so far. Also, we have wifi at home- does that still count against our 3g plan when we're using that to access the market while trying to figure this out?

One for calls, one for texts.Iand so on for everyone. All my contacts had 2 or 3 different ringtones for each of them depending on what was cominng through.

I have multiple songs/ringtones/notifications that I would like to use. I want a single person within my contacts to have two different ringtones; one for when they call and one for when they send a message.
I can set the individual's ringtone within my people settings, I can set the default notification tone within my SMS program (still debating between ChompSMS and HandCent, suggestions?) Is it possible (as anyone knows) to set a notification for an individual within a SMS app while having it leave the default application notification alone as well as the custom ringtone within the phonebook settings I have set for individual people?
