Sep 20, 2010Didnt see an existing thread on this; sorry if this is a repeat.By default the SF stores 200 texts per conversation and 20 multimedias per conversion. However, that value can in both cases be adjusted up to 5000. Might be excessive but here's how if you haven't already done it: Open Messaging App>Menu>Settings>Text Message Limit>Tap the number and put in 5000>Set and you're done. **If you put in a value greater than 5000 it still ends up as 5000; must be the limit** With 5000 thats gonna be some really long threads but oh well.

Nov 16, 2010I have the Samsung Fascinate obviously but I'm annoyed with one Android feature. I managed to get only my contacts to sync what I want (not e-mails). However, when I send text messages, the message contacts seems to all the e-mail addresses I've previously sent e-mails to.
Is there any way to get rid of that? And why the heck isn't it the same as my contacts?

Nov 14, 2010My ph is only recognizing part of the ringtone i brought over from my BB can this be fixed, there are all in the same folder:/mnt/sdcard/ringtones, and if i select a ringtone in that folder i don't have a option to make it a ringtone. I cant find a way to change my text message notice either to a custom ringtone is this possible.

How do we set a text message ringtone? When we text, all we get is a goofy little chime and the phones vibrate. I'll never hear that thing in my purse.I went to settings>notifications and set a soundbite I want to use after transferring it to the media>notifications folder, and when I get e-mails, it worked. But not for texting.
Also, what forum do I use for the double time? What is rooting, and do we need to do it? We got the phones through AT&T and they work fine so far. Also, we have wifi at home- does that still count against our 3g plan when we're using that to access the market while trying to figure this out?
Motorola Droid :: Individual Text Message Tones And Ringtones?
Nov 12, 2009on my storm I was not only able to set an individual ringtone for my contacts I was also able to set an individual text message tone for them as well. Is there any way to do this on the droid or a third party program available?Also, these are very simple. Is there any way or app out there that when i plug my phone in it will make a full screen clock like it does on blackberries? (in the picture of the phone in the media dock--that I don't have it shows something similar to what I want) Next, How do I choose different ringtones for my alarms. There are not that many to choose from in the list and I don't like any of them. Oh actually and I just thought of another one:some of my contacts are not linked to my facebook contacts, some are, how do I manually add facebook to a contact. (I only know of hitting the sync button on facebook, but that doesn't have any manual select setting)

Oct 14, 2010I'm a new member; I've had my Fascinate for about 2 weeks.Last night I tried to do something that seems simple: set a song as a ringtone for a specific contact. The procedure is given on page 75 of the manual. But it doesn't work.When I try it, I get a screen that says to press Menu and touch "Get friends" or "Accounts". But pressing Menu does nothing.I've gone through and activated sync for all accounts (and run sync multiple times), and my contacts DO all show up when I select "Contacts" from the home screen, but the manual's procedure still fails as described above.

Sep 14, 2010coming from a BB Curve, you can email yourself ring tones or email them to a friend from your device. I tried to email myself a ring tone on my Fascinate and it comes through, gives you the option to preview it, but no option to save it to the sd card. Does anyone know how to do this? I ask because I have friends that swap ring tones around and it is now impossible to do this for me.

Oct 5, 2010I just got a SF about a week ago, and am loving it! I rooted within 30 mins of leaving the store, and wanted to downclock the phone when the screen is off. I've been reading a bit, and apparently the Fascinate downclocks automatically to 100MHz by itself? Can anyone confirm this for me please? I tried setting the screen off profile on SetCPU to 200MHz, but noticed my phone freezing up in standby mode. Nothing would wake it up, except a battery pull. I tried bumping up the speed to 400MHz, same effect. I noticed the problem became worse and worse since I've installed it. I had to stop using SetCPU. The problem went away after I stopped using it. I was using SetCPU 2.00 I believe.Also, another question. Is there anyway to set custom ringtones for individual contacts? I don't see the option anywhere.

I noticed that when you're in the messaging app and you see the different threads, if you swipe left to right on a person's thread you will get a "CALL" button. If you swipe from right to left you will get a "MESSAGE" button.

Sep 29, 2010I have yahoo plus. When I loaded it on my Fascinate it was successful. I went thru all the steps fine. Now when I try to open the email it says Sorry! The application email (process.com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again....force close
any insight? I would try to remove the email and start again, but the message pops up so quickly I cant even get to the setting icon.

Nov 6, 2010I don't even own a bluetooth headset, but I feel that every time (not sure it is every time) I make a call, I hear a little message indicator while the call is ringing. I look at my phone, and it says "Would you like to enable bluetooth" or something like that. NO I wouldn't, I don't use bluetooth. Anyway to turn this option off?

Jun 3, 2010Sometimes when I receive messages it makes the notification sound and will show message in notification bar but the text of the message will not appear in the text thread. Used to happen every once in a while, now doing it multiple times a day. I use Handcent but I doubt that is the problem because the messages dont show up in the regular messaging either. Just want to see if i am alone with this problem.

Sep 30, 2010So I got my fascinates just last week, and my wifes phone has been acting crazy a bit, and I am sure its one of the thousands of apps she has installed. So I went into the 'recovery menu' and cleared the cache and did a factory reset from there to just restore to factory state, and now everything stops unexpectedly. Gmail, calendar, and most of all, media message just keeps popping up every 3 seconds or so. If i remove the sd card the media message will stop, but if I launch things like gmail, calendar, car dock, video player, etc., they all stop unexpectedly. I cannot even setup the market place again due to this failing, does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

Is there a way to either:
a) set the native text appl so that there is no content preview in the notification bar, or
b) with Handcent still have the special puzzle piece show up on your lock screen when you have a new text message?
I really liked how that puzzle piece showed up but now it is gone and I suspect it is ever since I installed Handcent and I don't know how to get it back.
Follow up question -- if I go back to the native text app, is there a way to increase the font size of incoming and outgoing messages? I don't want to have to put my reading glasses on everytime I get a text.
