I keep trying to set individual Text message sounds for my contact but i can't. When i try to set a notification sound its only for email and not texts. How can i change this? My phone is not rooted.

I have 20 sec mp3's that I can assign to individual contacts for their ringtone. I also have 07 sec mp3's that I want to assign to their notification sound such as incoming texts. How can I do that? Do I need a 3rd party app?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI absolutely cannot get text message notification sounds to work. At all. It stays on the stock sound. I can change it to any of the preloaded stock sounds and click ok but when I get a text it still plays the stock sound. I also tried using custom and that didnt work either. I have searched and searched and found nothing. And I am using the proper folder structure on the sd card for the customs. Does anyone have any ideas at all? Im getting very frustrated.

Switching over from a storm and with the storm i could set contact alerts for text messages and separate ringtones for when they call with the droid i have found there is only one text message alert and you cannot set individual alerts for text messages.

Is there any way to do this on the droid or a third party program available?Also, these are very simple. Is there any way or app out there that when i plug my phone in it will make a full screen clock like it does on blackberries? (in the picture of the phone in the media dock--that I don't have it shows something similar to what I want) Next, How do I choose different ringtones for my alarms. There are not that many to choose from in the list and I don't like any of them. Oh actually and I just thought of another one:some of my contacts are not linked to my facebook contacts, some are, how do I manually add facebook to a contact. (I only know of hitting the sync button on facebook, but that doesn't have any manual select setting)

View 7 Replies View Relatedanyone know how to turn it off? after the update to 2.1, this feature seems to be gone. seems the only way to turn off vibration when receiving an incoming text message is to put the phone on silent. but then you miss incoming calls. also, my htc weather widget doesn't work either. keeps saying "no weather data available", no matter if I have the mobile network on or Wi-fi. anyone else having this issue?

Recently, I have been facing some issues with not hearing or feeling text messages because I miss the tone or buzz of the phone, even with the max volume on. Is there a setting where I can make the phone repeatedly give me an alert and/or vibrate when I get a text message? I have searched both the sound and display option in the phone settings and the messages settings.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I have a very weird yet unique case with my stock text messaging app. Just this past weekend I started noticing that one of my contacts text messages were consistently showing up 3 minutes earlier from my text to them. So every time I send a text their response shows up above it which is very annoying. This case is only occurring for this contact, everyone else shows up just fine.
Now, this is what I have determined so far...
1) It's only happening when I receive a text from someone using a DROID on Verizon. I had a another friend who I had not recently text with sent me a text message to test my theory. The issue still occurs...
2) I had my sister who is on Verizon text me on her Blackberry Tour and the timing of her text shows up correctly. So it can't be the network right?
3) 3rd party apps (Handcent/ChompSMS) don't have this issue at all, the timing is perfect for everyone so my guess is that there is something wrong with the stock messaging app?
I have a whole bunch of other text from other contacts and I don't have this issue, it's just happening to the one contact that I have...actually, now two, which both have a DROID.
I may have to commit to using Handcent but I've been testing out the stock messaging app lately to evaluate the wake time after the firmware update and just noticed this problem occurring this past weekend only. I was using the stock messaging app even before this weekend and didn't notice this problem.
How do you get the ringtone to play all the way through when you get a text message? Right now it only plays for about 5 seconds and then notification sound plays even though ive set it to silent.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi upgraded my phone to 2.1 and now it sucks. it takes 40 seconds after i pushed call for my phone to finally start calling. it really sucks. just moving around the menus is very very slow. text msg are very very slow now. everything on my phone just got slower! i want to go back to 1.5 is that possible? i am very tempted to just throw my phone on the floor!

Handcent would autosize the pic so I could send. So my question is can I change the setting in the native app or just revert back to handcent.

On the iPhone, there was an option to select different text notification sounds for different contacts. Bob has sound A, Carol has sound B, etc. I haven't found that option in the S3. Do I need to create Groups and then assign the Group a specific sound for text messages? With over 1200 contacts, I would like to choose one text sound for friends, another for clients, etc.
My messages threads have been taking about 10 seconds to load - no matter how many messages are in the thread. The initial list of message threads loads fine, but when I select one I get "loading" for a very long time. This has never happened to me before, and I have been running 2.1 since it was released. I tried restarting my phone... nothing.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy sprint HTC hero for some reason will all the sudden stop allowing me to get text messages and mine that I send don't seem to reach the phone I am sending it to. It will stop working out of the blue and start back up. The only reason I know that it stops is because the person I am texting shows me that they never received a message from me and I never got one from them. My phone does not tell me I cant receive or send it just stops and I never know. When it starts working again it does not ever send the messages I didn't receive.

Is there a way to make your phones screen light up when you receive a text message? Also is there a way to set a reminder like every few minutes that you have a text message? Say if you receive a text message while you're away from the phone then two minutes later the phone vibrates or sounds to remind you that you have a new text.

My ringtone works as my new one. My notification sound plays my preference (Clapton's Layla) when I have an email and such, however, when I get a text message, it still plays the default sound. Is there somewhere you change this other than notification sounds?

1) Whenever I power my phone off for the night then plug it in to charge, it keeps turning on. Is this normal? Is there any way to stop this from happening? Will this have an impact on my battery life?
2) Is there any way to change the sounds for text message, emails, and other notifications? I am coming from a Blackberry where EVERYTHING has its own sound.
3) I've been looking through the "Most Popular App" threads and, of course, am open to your suggestions. Is there anywhere online where I can easily look at all of the available apps/programs?
