Ever since I have received the 2.1 update. I can't seem to find how I select a ringtone for a particular contact. I don't see the option in the contact list anymore where you add a new contact. Anyone know how to do this?

I normally don't like making new threads to ask questions about stuff if the info is already out there, but unfortunately, I can't seem to find the info I'm looking for anywhere. I've googled and done searches and manually looked through the threads here on AF I even checked the documentation the X came with. My Fiancee just got the X and was setting it up and she was looking for a way to set up individual ringtones for certain contacts the way she had them set up on her Droid but there doesn't seem to be an option to do it on the X. Does anyone happen to know anything about this?

I can set the general ringtone, but not any contact-specific ringtones.The manual (page 21) says it is doable: "Tip: When editing a contact, you can set a ringtone, address, and other details that will be saved on your phone."but I find nothing in the edit contact screen that lets me select a ringtone for it.Can anyone give me the steps?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got a SF about a week ago, and am loving it! I rooted within 30 mins of leaving the store, and wanted to downclock the phone when the screen is off. I've been reading a bit, and apparently the Fascinate downclocks automatically to 100MHz by itself? Can anyone confirm this for me please? I tried setting the screen off profile on SetCPU to 200MHz, but noticed my phone freezing up in standby mode. Nothing would wake it up, except a battery pull. I tried bumping up the speed to 400MHz, same effect. I noticed the problem became worse and worse since I've installed it. I had to stop using SetCPU. The problem went away after I stopped using it. I was using SetCPU 2.00 I believe.Also, another question. Is there anyway to set custom ringtones for individual contacts? I don't see the option anywhere.

I have found how to choose from my custom ringtones only for individual contact. how I can get my ringtones to be seen or where to place them so that the Droid sees them?
on my storm I was not only able to set an individual ringtone for my contacts I was also able to set an individual text message tone for them as well. Is there any way to do this on the droid or a third party program available?Also, these are very simple. Is there any way or app out there that when i plug my phone in it will make a full screen clock like it does on blackberries? (in the picture of the phone in the media dock--that I don't have it shows something similar to what I want) Next, How do I choose different ringtones for my alarms. There are not that many to choose from in the list and I don't like any of them. Oh actually and I just thought of another one:some of my contacts are not linked to my facebook contacts, some are, how do I manually add facebook to a contact. (I only know of hitting the sync button on facebook, but that doesn't have any manual select setting)

Just the default ringtone every time.Any ideas/thoughts? Doesn't seem to be a big enough issue to cause a stir yet, thus I haven't seen any helpful threads on the subject.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have multiple songs/ringtones/notifications that I would like to use. I want a single person within my contacts to have two different ringtones; one for when they call and one for when they send a message.
I can set the individual's ringtone within my people settings, I can set the default notification tone within my SMS program (still debating between ChompSMS and HandCent, suggestions?) Is it possible (as anyone knows) to set a notification for an individual within a SMS app while having it leave the default application notification alone as well as the custom ringtone within the phonebook settings I have set for individual people?
I searched around and couldn't find any answers, and all the threads for moto droid were ages old. I'm rooted and running a sapphire rom but that's not important. I can run anything. I'm just looking for a way to individually sync facebook contacts to existing phone contacts. I don't need all 1000 of my fb friends on my phone. But the contacts I DO have on my phone, it'd be cool to have synced up to fb. Is there any way to avoid the "all or nothing" mentality of fb sync?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am very new to Android (using non-rooted LG Nexus 5) and am having a great problem finding a feature that I depended on regularly with my Blackberry.
I occasionally receive an email from an automated server that indicates an emergency with one of the systems I manage. In Blackberry, I had setup a custom notification based on the email source address, and it would play a custom ringtone (Star Trek Red Alert) at top volume whenever a email from that contact was received. Android only allows custom "ringtones" on a per-contact basis, but these ringtones are only used for phone calls. There is no similar setting for SMS/MMS or Email messages that I can find on Android. I think it is strange that it is not part of the base functionality -- I am beginning to suspect it is a patent issue and it never will be added.
I can't find a good third-party application to provide this additional feature for email.I have tried several and found none adequate (for example, they fail with "Unfortunately has stopped.", they create separate connections to email servers and suck the battery dry, or they are built for SMS/MMS only).
i know how to set a ringer problem is that its only showing the ones that came with the phone.yet if i go into gtalk, ringtones, or text it has all of them.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI logged in to my gmail and needed to send email and it wouldn't suggest contacts anymore. I went into contacts and all of them gone except the ones that only had email field filled in. The groups that i created are there but no contacts.
I went into my phone and google contacts are there but they won't sync, errors out with "sync is temporary down".
All this creates another problem for me, I have phone contacts and google contacts in my Eris. Phone contact are synced to PC and all is good but I need my google contact in my gmail so I can email people and I have no way of putting them back to gmail and don't even know how to back them up.
In my previous phone I could set different ringtones for those in my contacts list and then another ringtone for those numbers not in my contacts list so I could tell by the ringtone if someone was calling that was in my contacts list or not.On the Hero there doesn't seem to be any way to do this.I was also able to set different volume levels for various notifications (ie, louder for phone calls and quieter for email and sms notifications).Does anyone know if this is possible on the hero?

Any ideas on a workaround, or how to use the qcp as a ringtone instead?

Does anyone know if it is possible to set default numbers in my phone for text messages and phone calls for individual contacts, please? I would like to set up the phone so it defaults to mobile phone numbers for text messages, so I don't accidentally try to send a text message to a landline.I have fiddled weith the phone for ages, but haven't yet found the option to do this.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Droid Eris. I have Zedge. I have a certain notification sound that I downloaded from Zedge. It shows up on the list, but there is apparently no sound associated with the item in the list. I manually downloaded the notification to my phone to see if it would play on the phone at all...and yes, it does. But I can't select it from the music player to be a notification sound...all that lets you set is the main phone ringtone...and I don't want it for that.
I hooked up the phone to my PC and made sure all the files were in their correct and happy places...notifications in notifications folder, ringtones in ringtones folder, zedge in zedge.
How do I set different folders for my ringtones and mp3's? I put some ringtones as well as mp3's on my phone. When I open up the music player app, it shows my ringtones and mp3's all together. How do I keep them separate? I don't want my ringtones playing in my music app. The same issue applies to my pictures. I have some small pics that I'm using as my caller ID contact pics, I have some camera pics, and then a few wallpaper pics. I"d like to have them separated when I open up the Albums app. How do I do this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAm I forgetting something? I used chompSMS to set custom notifications for specific people texting and it works. I used Ringdroid to assign custom ringtones to people and all that comes through is the default when they call.
