Motorola Droid X :: DX Ringtones For Individual Contacts
Jul 16, 2010I normally don't like making new threads to ask questions about stuff if the info is already out there, but unfortunately, I can't seem to find the info I'm looking for anywhere. I've googled and done searches and manually looked through the threads here on AF I even checked the documentation the X came with. My Fiancee just got the X and was setting it up and she was looking for a way to set up individual ringtones for certain contacts the way she had them set up on her Droid but there doesn't seem to be an option to do it on the X. Does anyone happen to know anything about this?

Nov 6, 2009Picked up my Droid this morning and cannot figure out how to set a ringtone for calls received from a contact. I can set the general ringtone, but not any contact-specific ringtones.The manual (page 21) says it is doable: "Tip: When editing a contact, you can set a ringtone, address, and other details that will be saved on your phone."but I find nothing in the edit contact screen that lets me select a ringtone for it.Can anyone give me the steps?

Sep 12, 2010Totally new to "smart phones" and feeling pretty dumb right now I have managed to download a bunch of sounds (mpga) and saved them in my "sounds" folder on my Captivate. And following advice, have gone into my Contacts, scrolled down, and assigned a file as ringtone, then hit "Save". When viewing the contact, it shows the file as being assigned as their ringtone. And then when the call comes in.... Rings as default. Whats going on? Do the sounds have to be in the Ringtone folder? If yes, how do I do that? If no, what am I doing wrong?

Nov 12, 2009on my storm I was not only able to set an individual ringtone for my contacts I was also able to set an individual text message tone for them as well. Is there any way to do this on the droid or a third party program available?Also, these are very simple. Is there any way or app out there that when i plug my phone in it will make a full screen clock like it does on blackberries? (in the picture of the phone in the media dock--that I don't have it shows something similar to what I want) Next, How do I choose different ringtones for my alarms. There are not that many to choose from in the list and I don't like any of them. Oh actually and I just thought of another one:some of my contacts are not linked to my facebook contacts, some are, how do I manually add facebook to a contact. (I only know of hitting the sync button on facebook, but that doesn't have any manual select setting)

Oct 5, 2010I just got a SF about a week ago, and am loving it! I rooted within 30 mins of leaving the store, and wanted to downclock the phone when the screen is off. I've been reading a bit, and apparently the Fascinate downclocks automatically to 100MHz by itself? Can anyone confirm this for me please? I tried setting the screen off profile on SetCPU to 200MHz, but noticed my phone freezing up in standby mode. Nothing would wake it up, except a battery pull. I tried bumping up the speed to 400MHz, same effect. I noticed the problem became worse and worse since I've installed it. I had to stop using SetCPU. The problem went away after I stopped using it. I was using SetCPU 2.00 I believe.Also, another question. Is there anyway to set custom ringtones for individual contacts? I don't see the option anywhere.

I'm just looking for a way to individually sync facebook contacts to existing phone contacts. I don't need all 1000 of my fb friends on my phone. But the contacts I DO have on my phone, it'd be cool to have synced up to fb. Is there any way to avoid the "all or nothing" mentality of fb sync?

HTC Droid Eris : Ringtones Assign To A Contact Don't Work
May 7, 2010I had this problem in 2.1v2, I installed v3, and it first, all was well, then yesterday I noticed the same thing...none of my custom set ring tones are being used. phone always rings with the system default.
I can change that, and it rings that tone, but any I assign to a contact don't work.
I haven't installed any ring tone managers or anything, I can't think of what would be messing with it, but it is friggin annoying!

I can set the individual's ringtone within my people settings, I can set the default notification tone within my SMS program (still debating between ChompSMS and HandCent, suggestions?) Jan 14, 2014I am very new to Android (using non-rooted LG Nexus 5) and am having a great problem finding a feature that I depended on regularly with my Blackberry.
I occasionally receive an email from an automated server that indicates an emergency with one of the systems I manage. In Blackberry, I had setup a custom notification based on the email source address, and it would play a custom ringtone (Star Trek Red Alert) at top volume whenever a email from that contact was received. Android only allows custom "ringtones" on a per-contact basis, but these ringtones are only used for phone calls. There is no similar setting for SMS/MMS or Email messages that I can find on Android. I think it is strange that it is not part of the base functionality -- I am beginning to suspect it is a patent issue and it never will be added.
I can't find a good third-party application to provide this additional feature for email.I have tried several and found none adequate (for example, they fail with "Unfortunately has stopped.", they create separate connections to email servers and suck the battery dry, or they are built for SMS/MMS only).
