I have been looking to try to choose one of my ringtones for notification confirmations as well as received calls. All that I have found are the OS ringtones for those 2 operations. (ringtone: DROID)
I have found how to choose from my custom ringtones only for individual contact. how I can get my ringtones to be seen or where to place them so that the Droid sees them?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an unlocked Hero that I'm using on the AT&T network. I have my contacts synced via Exchange. I set up a few to have different ringtones, but none seem to work. The default ringtone is the only ringtone I ever hear. Am I missing something?

I've googled and done searches and manually looked through the threads here on AF I even checked the documentation the X came with. My Fiancee just got the X and was setting it up and she was looking for a way to set up individual ringtones for certain contacts the way she had them set up on her Droid but there doesn't seem to be an option to do it on the X. Does anyone happen to know anything about this?

I can set the general ringtone, but not any contact-specific ringtones.The manual (page 21) says it is doable: "Tip: When editing a contact, you can set a ringtone, address, and other details that will be saved on your phone."but I find nothing in the edit contact screen that lets me select a ringtone for it.Can anyone give me the steps?

Is there any way to do this on the droid or a third party program available?Also, these are very simple. Is there any way or app out there that when i plug my phone in it will make a full screen clock like it does on blackberries? (in the picture of the phone in the media dock--that I don't have it shows something similar to what I want) Next, How do I choose different ringtones for my alarms. There are not that many to choose from in the list and I don't like any of them. View 27 Replies View RelatedI have some mp3s that I have used for ringtones on past phones (KRazr, Blackberry), and from what I've found, to add them to my Droid 2, I put them in the media/audio/ringtones folder on my SD card. I've done that, but they don't show up in my list. I've also tried restarting the phone (aks the Microsoft approach), but they're still not available. Is there somewhere else I'm supposed to put the files?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI looked around and couldn't seem to find the information I was seeking in one place but found it on various forums. I thought I would put it here in case others need it or are looking for it. I was trying to add custom mp3 tones to my alarm clock, gmail, sms, etc., but I couldn't get the phone to recognize anything. In the end this is what I did to make it work:
I plugged the phone into my PC using the "usb storage device" option upon connection. I created a folder in the root directory called Tones (probably anything will work as a name) and then created 3 folders inside called Ringtones, Notifications, and Alarms. Anything in those folders will show up only in that app.
In other words, if you want a custom Alarm, you will need an Alarms folder and an mp3 or two. If you have a custom ringtone, you will need to put it in the Ringtones folder and so on. I got a bunch from the Zedge website but I've made a few of my own such as Halo Chant among others.
I have a couple dozen ringtones that I made a while back and had them on my RAZR, then on my Rival. When I transferred them over to the Droid, then using the app Android and Rings Extended (no longer working - now coming up as 3rd party app) all my ringtones got significantly shortened.
I had them all set up as MP3 and small (220kb or less). Each one was 30 seconds long or less. Both applications hacked them off between 10 and 20 seconds. Anybody else having this issue?
How would one go about doing this with a Droid 2? I'm trying to add them so I can set ringtones for individual contacts, so when they call, I know who is calling me. I have tones already picked out and saved to my Gmail account. I thought I would be able to set them from there, but it turns out that's not possible. I used to be able to do this on my LG Chocolate.I had sent the tones I wanted using a service called Mobile17.

I can set the individual's ringtone within my people settings, I can set the default notification tone within my SMS program (still debating between ChompSMS and HandCent, suggestions?) Is it possible (as anyone knows) to set a notification for an individual within a SMS app while having it leave the default application notification alone as well as the custom ringtone within the phonebook settings I have set for individual people?
I just got a SF about a week ago, and am loving it! I rooted within 30 mins of leaving the store, and wanted to downclock the phone when the screen is off. I've been reading a bit, and apparently the Fascinate downclocks automatically to 100MHz by itself? Can anyone confirm this for me please? I tried setting the screen off profile on SetCPU to 200MHz, but noticed my phone freezing up in standby mode. Nothing would wake it up, except a battery pull. I tried bumping up the speed to 400MHz, same effect. I noticed the problem became worse and worse since I've installed it. I had to stop using SetCPU. The problem went away after I stopped using it. I was using SetCPU 2.00 I believe.Also, another question. Is there anyway to set custom ringtones for individual contacts? I don't see the option anywhere.
View 21 Replies View RelatedI switched to a Droid X from a BlackBerry. On the BlackBerry, not only could you set phone and SMS custom alerts and ringtones (in addition to custom ring profiles for certain contacts), you could also set email alerts.
So for example, if my husband emailed me, it would ring a custom alert for his email, not just for an email to that particular account. That meant I didn't need to look at my phone every time got an email to see who it was from. (I have a web-based business and I get literally hundreds of emails every day.)
On the BlackBerry, not only were there custom inboxes for each email account, there was a "universal" inbox. There doesn't seem to be a function exactly like that for the Android (I tried adding my Gmail accounts to the one there, but it keeps defaulting me back to each Gmail box).
Is there an app for this?
I have Ringo Pro for my custom sms and call alerts, but an email alert would be a lifesaver. There are a lot of BB converts to Android (and I'm sure more to come) who would gladly pay for an app to handle this. So far, it's the only thing I can see where the Droid X doesn't beat the BB.
I have Nonsensikal ROM installed on this Eris and occasionally make my own mp3 ringtones. But they never show up in the default list of available ringtones. Is this by Eris design?I know how to add a custom ringtone but was just curious as to why I cant include it in the default listing area rather than having to go to my music gallery.

My question is this (I have searched everywhere and No answer), When you sync your phone, does it also Save the Ringers for the Individual Contacts? I remember with all my Windows phones before, when I would Hard Reset etc. it would automatically bring back saved Pictures and Ringers on each individual contact. If not, is there a way of doing it? Does the Evo back itself up as a say an iPod Touch does. (I like that just to be Safe in case of Hard Resets).

She wants a very quick way to access calling/texting her favorites. Is there a Contact Manger program that could have individual icons for each person that I could place on an empty home screen? So, wouldn't have to open the app, just go to the home screen where there would be multiple favorite people icons. I wonder if Launcher Pro Plus has this feature? I'm going to try Contapps as this looks like it might work. Not sure if I have to first open the app and then select favorites. She's trying to minimize the number of hits before dialing/texting.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had this problem in 2.1v2, I installed v3, and it first, all was well, then yesterday I noticed the same thing...none of my custom set ring tones are being used. phone always rings with the system default.
I can change that, and it rings that tone, but any I assign to a contact don't work.
I haven't installed any ring tone managers or anything, I can't think of what would be messing with it, but it is friggin annoying!
