Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 : Setup SMS Tones / Choose What Is Used For Each Individual Contac

Newbie here - just found this forum, and have a million and one questions about my Xperia X10 that I am getting increasingly frustrated with. Hope you can help.
1st off - And I apologise if this is answered properly elsewhere, but I can't find a satisfactory answer! How the hell can I choose what SMS tone is used for each individual contact; and how can I set it to silent for some contacts?? Please - is there a definitive guide anywhere??
One would expect to go into Phonebook, select the contact, press Edit, and have an option for SMS tone - but no!!
Ideally, I would like to set the SMS tone to silent for most contacts - so I got "Tone Picker". But even using Tone Picker, Set Notifications, Complete action using Tone picker, select Silent - DOES NOT WORK!!! I still get the notification tone on all texts! And Tone picker doesn't allow me to set the SMS tone per contact.

Got my X10 this morning and I can't for the life of me find out how to delete individual texts instead of the whole thread. How can I save the important ones whilst clearing out the dead wood? I've been trawling through here all day so.

I couldn't find anything about this by doing a search, but apologies if I am being dim.
On the X10, is it possible to organize text messages so that they appear in an in box and sent items etc? Mine are showing up by each contact, which is good in a way, but I can't find a way to delete individual messages. It seems that all messages from a contact all form part of one long thread, even if I start a new message to a contact. That means that when I went to delete a message from a contact, the phone deleted all the messages from her. There wasn't anythign of special importance in them, but I'd like to be able to delete single messages.

I want to set a portrait picture of me & my gf as my wallpaper. But when i come to set it, it only allows me to choose a limited area.
How can i bypass it or fix the picture so i can have the full picture as my wallpaper?

I do not have the application "Android Market service on my Experia X10 as it was bought in Saudi Arabia, is there another application i can use to download ring tones onto my phone, frankly the ones installed by the factory wouldn't wake up a canary.

Can set different songs for ringtones and texts for different contacts. I managed to get a new song for one contact, but can not get that song or any other song for any other contact. The X10 is a great phone besides.

Does anyone know if it is possible to set default numbers in my phone for text messages and phone calls for individual contacts, please? I would like to set up the phone so it defaults to mobile phone numbers for text messages, so I don't accidentally try to send a text message to a landline.I have fiddled weith the phone for ages, but haven't yet found the option to do this.

Okay, finally did the upgrade from 1.6 to 2.1.The only problem I am having now is connecting to the Internet with the phone. On wifi, everything works, but I can't seem to setup the APN or use the appropriate information. I am on tmobile USA, can anyone provide me with their setting?I tried using the setting from tmobile forums but have no luck. Is anyone running into the same problem?

I've set up an email account on my mini pro (NOT gmail or exchange) and it all works fine updating my inbox manually , however, I cant find any settings to automatically retrieve my emails periodically ( as far I can see auto sync refers to gmail or sony sync or road sync for exchange). Is there any way to auto sync an individual email account ?

I am trying to get my Shaw mail on my Sony X10 using the Mail app that came on my phone, I know it works I have done it once before, but I had to send my phone in and get a replacement due to some issues, anyways I can get the incoming server to work witch is pop.shaw.ca but the outgoing one is where I am having problems, I have tried everything, but keep getting the same dead end.

This is driving me crazy! I got this phone to keep in touch with activity on the web forum and my e-mails for the charity I do work for (in between my normal job!!) But every time I try to set up my e-mails I get an error message stating "certificate error. Check that time and date are correct" well, I have and all is OK but am going round in circles - anyone had this problem and what did you have to do?

I have just got the x10 mini. i have set my hotmail account up on the email function and have gone into settings and set up to get notifications of new emails coming through. the problem i am having is that i only get the notifications when i physically go into the email function and refresh- which completely defeats the point of the function. Has anyone else had this problem, or have i not set it up correctly?

Well I encountered a really weird and not pleasent experience with my x10 today. I had it charging overnight like probably everyone who has one does and than I unplugged it to get started for the day. However, when I unplugged it from the usb cord, the screen got locked and flashed. So I turned it off and turned it back on. Well when it came back on, I had LOST everything that I had setup on my 3 screens! No icons, no nothing! Everything was gone except for the wallpaper or theme, which was the same I had setup. I did have ADW setup as my launcher, but all my launchers were gone as well. When I held down the center button, which would normally bring up my launcher option, it brought me to the homescreen.
So now I have to go through and resetup all of the icons and screens. Not a big ordeal, but what is troubling me is why did it even happen?

Just got the SE Xperia X10, I'm not sure what I click but it won't go to landscape anymore when I text. I really prefer texting in landscape mode. I just got the phone 3 days ago. I installed juice defender and task killer, I'm not sure if it has any thing to do with that.

I've just try to set the an email account on my X10 mini using the "Email" app.App ask for "Yahoo", "hotmail", and 2 others providers.I choose "hotmail" and enter account and password ok it's working.(my 50 messages are tagged "not read" and there is no way to tag all of them "read", but it's not the main problem now)But it was just a test, what I want is to setup my yahoo account.THE PROBLEM IS that now, when I open the "Email" app, it opens directly my hotmail account.

New to X8 and Android - was k850i user. I am trying to setup the X8 to work with my personal email, other than Gmail.My provider uses POP and SMTP servers. The POP server address is pop-server@xyz.site.com. The SMTP server address is smtp-server@xyz.site.com
I select the POP3 choice, I enter the POP server address and then the SMTP server address. At this point the "Continue" bar is present but grayed out - it cannot be selected. If I press the leftward return arrow at the bottom of the phone I am returned to email sign-in, the phone displays a spinner and then returns to the POP SMTP setup screen.

I borrowed a windows computer and updated to 2.1. Everything seemed fine until today. I noticed that the backup hadn't saved my email details so I attempted to setup it up from scratch to my isp's pop3 server (Zen Internet). I input my details over and over and kept getting server not found/ authentication wrong. Then I realised one of my password letters should have been capitalised... So, I thought that'll be it. reentered my details but this time the continue button won't work... No amount of pressing gets even an error message. So, I turned the phone on and off...Still no good and now the phone can't find the setup guide that I carefully copied over to a new 16gb mini sdcard...

I had downloaded Internet setup file from the SE site once in which the complete process is given to auto setup through the msg sent by SE site on my cell phone, where it asks your operator your cell no. then a msg will come on your cell phone from the site which u have to run in your cell phone and Internet setting will be done automatically. But now I am unable to find that section please send me the link of that section.

very new to my X10 and the Android program.
1) Please explain to me how to set up my hotmail account on the e-mail setup as i get an error message everytime i type the address and password in.
2)The Android website states I have entered my Credit Card details incorrectly everytime i try to purchase an app whether it's in dollars (eg Doodle Jump) Euro's etc
3)How can I put movies on my phone that are on my laptop?
Probably being laughed at but basic things that you don't get told unless you ask.
