Motorola Droid :: On 2.2 : Why Can Some Apps Be Moved To SD But Not Others?
Aug 19, 2010I'm not understanding why some apps (even those that haven't been run or aren't running) can't be moved to the SD, while others can. Of the 50 or so apps on my phone, it seemed that 80% of them had the "Move to SD" grayed out. Anyone know why?

Aug 16, 2010Of all the apps on my Droid, I only found 15 that could be moved. For testing I moved 1.. but where did it go? I expected to find it in a new directory or as an apk at the root of the SD card. No such luck. Any ideas?

Oct 1, 2010So with the last few ROMs I've had installed, I've tried moving apps to the sdcard. I figured it would be a good thing, even if I wasn't running out of room. Every time I move more than just a few apps to the sdcard, my whole phone starts getting laggy. I just moved all of my apps back to phone and the "lagginess" is gone. I currently have UD8.0 installed, but it has behaved this way with LFY and Pete's BB ROMs as well. So it doesn't seem to be a ROM related.

Jul 19, 2010I'm having problems trying to use files after moving them.
Example:
I took a bunch of pictures at an event, the created a folder for that event and moved the pictures into it. I can still open the pictures one at a tiem by navigsting too them, but the galleary app still shows the thumbs, but cannot find them.
Example 2:
I downloaded an mp3 for a ring tone, and while in the downloads folder the music player found it and I was able to set it at a ring tone. But I tried to create a ringtones folder, and then music could not find it, and just playing it by opening the file would not allow me to set a ring tone.
So how does this work? I have seen references here to folders called Media and ring tones, but I see nothing like that in the file system on my phone. Where does one put music if they want to actually use the music player?
Is the DCIM folder the ONLY one that works with the photo gallery? Is the Downloads folder the ONLY one that works with the music player?
Motorola Droid : All SMS Threads Mysteriously Deleted
Dec 14, 2009So my droid just deleted about 1,000 or so text and picture messages among 5 or 6 different threads. I don't know what I could have done to cause this, as I've had "never delete messages" selected since day one.
I've seen a few more instances of this happening on other forums, but no mention of it here. Has anybody else run into this bug? It's infuriating.

May 13, 2010My unrooted droid on 2.1 deleted all my text message threads in the stock messaging app even the locked ones. What I don't get is ALL the picture messages are gone but the dialer storage is 10.6 mb. What the heck? It should be almost zero.

Feb 11, 2010I just noticed something that is quite annoying in the native gmail app. If you "reply" to an email, but change the address you are replying to, you lose the ability to see the original message of the thread on your Droid. Here is an example. A friend of mine, Jane, was organizing a ski trip and sent out and email to the 20 people that were going with the details (dates, addresses, prices, contact info, etc). I replied to the email, but changed the address to John's email, because he was going to be driving me and I didn't want to reply to all. John and I continued the thread with multiple messages back and forth to setup details of when we were leaving. In all versions of g mail (on both my desktop and my Droid), I see "Jane, Me, John (8) >> ski trip details..." for this thread. When I am in the browser version of g mail (either desktop or the Droid browser) I can click on the thread and see all 8 messages. However, in the native g mail app on the Droid, I click on the thread, see the last message, and behind that it only says "6 read messages" (there should be 7 more) and when I expand them, Jane's original message is the one missing. The thread comes up though when I search for Jane's email address or any of the text within Jane's original email. But I can't read it.

If you want people to take notice let them know what the thread is about. Yea, eventually I will check out a thread titled "Oh No!" (morbid curiosity) but my first pick is one with a title that catches my interest.This has been a public service announcement. The thread titles have been changed to protect the innocent.

Aug 1, 2010Last week I noticed all my text message threads were gone from my phone! I have heard people complaining about this in the past and it happened to me. What is more surprising is that a friend told me today that his complete CONTACT list was deleted from the phone! What is going on with these Droids that are making them delete information like this?

Dec 26, 2009First of all I am very pleased with the Droid (including the keyboard) and Android OS 2.0. Have been playing with it since december 13th and I especially love the texting app. In my home, Berkeley CA, it worked great, but now in Puerto Rico there seem to be some glitches. I turned off the auto delete messages because I prefer that. Not sure if its because I disabled the auto delete or because I am in Puerto Rico, but randomly when I go to my texting app, all my threads will be gone. This has happened to me twice now within a week.

May 11, 2010I'm having a problem with my Driod Eris. It's moving on its own, if I unlock the screen it starts to move to the left and stays there. He claims that whenever he call a contact, the actual contact is no longer available in the contact list but is instead moved over to the recent calls list. I told him that I believe that the recent call list only shows recent call and that the contact should to be found in proper order on the Contact list. Having no actual experience with this phone, I'm just looking for clarification. Does a recently called contact have to be found in the recent call list? If not, what may my customer be confused by? Is there a free application to make this any easier for him?

Feb 10, 2010How the message threads work? I create a new message and it logs it in what ever thread was last. If I reply using messages sometimes it sends to wrong person.
Example:
I txtd person#1. then person #2 txtd me. opening messages I replied to person #2. but it went to person #1. my only guess is it goes to whom ever created the thread. very bad app. still trying to figure this out?
Like how to reply to the correct person and whom its going to. in threads?

Apr 23, 2010I was trying to employ a tip I found on here which stated I could type my question in the "new thread" box and a quick search would be done to see if my question had already been answered. Must not be doing it right. As long as I have a thread made, I guess I will ask: Is there a fast way to scroll besides swiping your finger on the page? It takes a long time to get from the bottom to the top of one of these threads on my phone if I swipe it. Seems like there might be a way but I haven't run across it.

Nov 12, 2009I'm trying to figure out why my text message 'conversations' are merging so that they get lumped under one main 'person'?
I've only had the phone a couple days, so not a ton of messages yet. But a couple of times now, all messages have gotten 'lumped' together under one user, regardless of who they are received from or sent to.
The first time it happened, I cleared the entire thread. But now it's happening again. Even forwarding a message to someone else gets included in the same thread.
But it seems as if the messages are going to the right people, not sure. The problem is hitting 'reply'. Not sure who will get it.
Last night I downloaded the Handcent SMS client, and am using that now (disabled the notifications, etc., in the default SMS client). The HTC SMS widget seems to work OK with the Handcent client thankfully, but it is only showing the last 'conversation' of a long thread. So not sure if it's a default message app issue or not.
HTC Droid Eris :: App To Auto-delete Message Threads
Dec 2, 2009I have been searching but so far have not found the answer to this question: is there an app to automatically delete threads when they get to a certain length or if they have been inactive past a certain date?
My old phone just autodeleted the oldest text once you got past 100, and while it is nice to have more memory than that I do not want to go through my threads and manually delete them to stop them from taking up too much memory. anyone know/use such an app?
HTC Droid Eris :: Deleting Large Message Threads
Dec 14, 2009I'm having trouble deleting a message thread that is over 1500 messages.. Using the stock Message Delete just results in a force close after a few minutes, and using the app called SMS Quick Delete results in nothing at all, even after running for almost half an hour. Is there an easier way to do this? Is it possible to connect to my computer via usb and browse to manually delete the messages?
