So my droid just deleted about 1,000 or so text and picture messages among 5 or 6 different threads. I don't know what I could have done to cause this, as I've had "never delete messages" selected since day one.
I've seen a few more instances of this happening on other forums, but no mention of it here. Has anybody else run into this bug? It's infuriating.

My unrooted droid on 2.1 deleted all my text message threads in the stock messaging app even the locked ones. What I don't get is ALL the picture messages are gone but the dialer storage is 10.6 mb. What the heck? It should be almost zero.

What is more surprising is that a friend told me today that his complete CONTACT list was deleted from the phone! What is going on with these Droids that are making them delete information like this?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using the original Droid and use the Handcent SMS app for messaging. I am not receiving incoming texts and have the error message stating that my message memory is full. I just deleted all threads about a week ago so this was surprising, but regardless I deleted again. I double checked both messaging and handcent and both are empty. The only answer I can think of is that I have some kind of backup storage setting, but I can't find it anywhere on my phone!

View 12 Replies View RelatedI just noticed something that is quite annoying in the native gmail app. If you "reply" to an email, but change the address you are replying to, you lose the ability to see the original message of the thread on your Droid. Here is an example. A friend of mine, Jane, was organizing a ski trip and sent out and email to the 20 people that were going with the details (dates, addresses, prices, contact info, etc). I replied to the email, but changed the address to John's email, because he was going to be driving me and I didn't want to reply to all. John and I continued the thread with multiple messages back and forth to setup details of when we were leaving. In all versions of g mail (on both my desktop and my Droid), I see "Jane, Me, John (8) >> ski trip details..." for this thread. When I am in the browser version of g mail (either desktop or the Droid browser) I can click on the thread and see all 8 messages. However, in the native g mail app on the Droid, I click on the thread, see the last message, and behind that it only says "6 read messages" (there should be 7 more) and when I expand them, Jane's original message is the one missing. The thread comes up though when I search for Jane's email address or any of the text within Jane's original email. But I can't read it.

"Please help" "What do I do" titled threads that give no clue about the thread content. If you want people to take notice let them know what the thread is about. Yea, eventually I will check out a thread titled "Oh No!" (morbid curiosity) but my first pick is one with a title that catches my interest.This has been a public service announcement. The thread titles have been changed to protect the innocent.

Today I got a text, opened it up, and all I got was an empty list of all my messaging threads. Everything was erased. Does anyone know why this would happen, and if there is any way to recover the texts?
View 3 Replies View RelatedFirst of all I am very pleased with the Droid (including the keyboard) and Android OS 2.0. Have been playing with it since december 13th and I especially love the texting app. In my home, Berkeley CA, it worked great, but now in Puerto Rico there seem to be some glitches. I turned off the auto delete messages because I prefer that. Not sure if its because I disabled the auto delete or because I am in Puerto Rico, but randomly when I go to my texting app, all my threads will be gone. This has happened to me twice now within a week.

I have deleted several of my text message threads but they show up in my contact history and I cant get rid of them how do I permanently get rid of them . where they show up in contact history is if you delete a text thread and then you go to that persons contact info and swipe left 3 times the text thread is there , how do you delete this from this location ?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHad this happened last night for the first time, last time i looked at the phone it was at 66% battery, an hour or so later it was completely dead and would not charge, not even the indicator light came on. Pulled the battery, nothing, switched chargers and still nothing.
Put a call into HTC and we pulled the battery again as well as did the power and low volume toggle reset and it turned on finally, showing the orange light. Did a soft reset again after that to make sure, everything is fine again, but very very strange.
HTC said they've had some of these issues pop up recently for no apparent reason. The problem would have been if the phone didn't come back at all ...
What are the advantages/disadvantages in placing a lengthy network access code in a thread in an activity or a thread in a service? How would it affect the application? I am writing a streaming audio player and from what I've read so far putting the code in a service will still end up blocking the application so a new thread is needed, does anyone know if it makes more sense to put this piece of code in a service.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust been making some icons for my Desire, and I've noticed that I seem to have lost LOADS of my photo's, and icons on my SD Card.
All I've been doing is swapping the Card from Drive to Charge so I xcan try out the icons I've been making, and using the 3D Gallery to set/view them. I noticed that every time I opened 3D Gallery, the image, and folder count was getting less, and less. For example, my family photos of my son have gone from almost 100 images to just 7. Pissed off isn't the word.
Okay so i copied the files back from my PC to my SD card, and they're there now.
However.....
I use Turtle Photoframe as my Homepage photo widget, and it's STILL only showing the files that were'nt deleted. EVEN after I removed the widget, and set it. I also cleared all the caches, but it's still ONLY showing the few files that didn't vanish.
My android app draws a chart on a Canvas. It works fine in the simulator. On a real device the chart is clipped to the left 1/5 of the screen. I've tried:
canvas.clipRect(0, 0, canvas.getWidth(), canvas.getHeight(), Region.Op.REPLACE);
to clear the clipping. Am I missing something? Does layering have anything to do with this?
I went to try and open a message but the app kept bringing up an error and I'd have to force close it. The screen would then switch to my home screen but with no shortcuts just a background then after a second go black until I hit the home button. I restarted the phone and when I opened messaging ALL my conversations were gone. Is this a known glitch? is there a way to get all my texts back?

So I've searched through the forum and found no threads about this this has happened to me twice already
and my text message inbox just completely deleted everything on its own i have the text message maximum limit to 999 and i use the stock messaging app and my phone is not rooted its a bit annoying when all the messages get deleted. does this happen to anyone else?
I have photos still in my gallery that I have deleted already. When I try to delete them again the "delete" option is grayed out. When I do the "select all" option it says that it is deleting them but they are still there.

Well it didnt work now i have no youtube app. Can someone post a youtube.apk for me to download and install from the Droid X 2.2 leak (rooted). Sadly the designer deleted my wallpaper in the last update and in this one he deleted my ring tone and notification tones. How can I back up these choices and add them to the newest version of the ROM? The new version is much quicker and I want to use it but only with those tones.

I've had it for 2 1/2+ months and it has done it twice, leading me to believe that it happens every month, regularly, because it always happens at the beginning of the month. The last time it happened, I brought it to the Verizon store but all they do is blame the consumer for any faults with software because Android is open source. Is there a way to get my texts back and how can I solve this problem? Is there an app that deletes text messages every month or so because of a hidden setting? Is there a solution to this problem without reformatting (I have my contacts, calendar, and a bunch of other stuff on my phone and also apps and I don't wanna delete anything).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was looking through the files via ASTRO and also Files last night. I noticed several cases where folders, which I removed the app, were still in the directory. Also, the Zedge folder was full of images from browsing I presume.
I've cleared the cache via the browser and a lot of stuff was not removed. I thought I deleted an app and traces still remain.
How can I best clean things up?
So how do you make them not visible, cause the two pages of moved in the Droid section is annoying.
