I'm having a problem with my Driod Eris. It's moving on its own, if I unlock the screen it starts to move to the left and stays there. I try to scroll over it moves back I press the home button and it does the same thing. I've tried powering down taking the battery put nothing seem to work.

So through a weird assortment of events i managed to crack the screen on my Eris. But this is the trippy part, I didnt break the glass but the touch sensors underneath. So now i am unable to use the menu or home buttons and the entire left part of my screen and more. I am unable to unlock my device in anyway that i know(menu button, the slider). Is there any other way to unlock it? I now have 11 unread texts and 4 voicemails that I desperately want to view. Oh and I know some of you won't be happy about what I'm about to say but.... I took the leap to the moto droid. I had the chance to get it on a 1 year because I didnt get insurance and I went for it. I will really miss my Eris but the keyboard lag was just killing me.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have been reading a lot on this issue since my 3 week old Eris has started moving the home screens and cursors to the far left but only when charging. Is there a fix to this I can do myself? I know if I go to Verizon (corp store) they will offer to replace it with a FRU model (refurb) and I will not have that since this phone is brand new. Since being a Verizon customer for 4 years I have had FRU replacements all resulting in a replacement phone that has even more issue's than the one it replaced which then resulted in a multi model FRU to a new phone (Samsung Gleam (2 replacements) to a new Env2 (3 Env's) then to an new LG voyager that lasted 2 years.What worries me is that Verizon has dropped the Eris and if I cant get a new Eris replacement I know they are going to throw the cinder block sized Moto Droid at me.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe gap between the screen and housing, particularly at the bottom, seems to be pretty wide on my phone. i notice at night that light shines through that gap. Can't tell if the gap has gotten any wider. Just wondering if anyone else notices something similar. Seems like a great place for dust to enter the screen. Especially if light can come through there. Doesn't mean it's not sealed, but obviously it's not a super tight fit.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWell, I've been noticing a few more problems with my eris as of late (if you want to know the others look at my post history)I've been unable to get past the lock screen to display sometimes. I just got off the phone with a friend, it was a long call as the phone/battery had heated up a bit. Now, everything with the phone seemed to be okay, I went and pulled up the HTC battery widget and was around 34C. I've seen it get this high before and had no problems. Now, I locked the phone and a few minutes later I tried to unlock it. The unlock screen would display but the touch screen wouldn't not receive any of my input. The Menu button did not work either. I could push the end button time and again and the display wound turn on and off, but no touch input ever worked. I just had to do a battery pull to get into my phone.
I've also been noticing inside TaskPanel that the amount of available memory steadily declines even if no programs are running. I have mostly sense programs ignored and I've included timerriffic and beautiful widgets as they are always running and need to be so they will function. (beautiful widgets I just purchased yesterday and I've had this problem for a week or two) If I do successfully get past the lock screen the phone will be extremely slow and TaskPanel will report something like 20 megs of available memory, with no applications running. If I restart the phone I'm usually fine. I think it is happening around the 13-14 hour mark of my phone being turned on.
I'm assuming something is hogging up my phone and I just can't tell what it is. I don't have very many 3rd party applications installed. They are closed immediately after I'm done with them except for beautiful widgets and timerriffic. I've had timerrific since the 2nd day I've owned my Eris and it's never been a problem (not to say an update didn't hose it)Anyone have similar problems? Anyone think of anything that could be causing this? [side note: I did notice a few weeks back my exchange calendar was freaking out and draining my battery, but deleting and resetting up my exchange email fixed that and it doesn't seem to be a problem now]
I personally own the Motorola Droid, But one one my customers has the eris. Here is the question. He claims that whenever he call a contact, the actual contact is no longer available in the contact list but is instead moved over to the recent calls list. I told him that I believe that the recent call list only shows recent call and that the contact should to be found in proper order on the Contact list. Having no actual experience with this phone, I'm just looking for clarification. Does a recently called contact have to be found in the recent call list? If not, what may my customer be confused by? Is there a free application to make this any easier for him?

View 10 Replies View RelatedOn one of the home screens or scenes, whatever, i had put the 30 day month view HTC calendar widget. it synced with the Google calendar just fine and there was a little triangle in the upper left corner of the box for the days that had an event. however, they only stay once i reload the widget. and after a little while they go away, but if i pick a day, my events are still there. i really like that the little triangle. how do i make it stay? is there another app or widget that will allow a full month view with the little triangle or similar mark for days with events?
View 9 Replies View RelatedTried doing a search to no avail as I thought I had saw something on this a week or so ago. I am new here and keep having issues with my Eris. I stopped using a task killer as different ones I have tried tend to eat my battery. At any rate things were fine until today when I noticed that when I click on manage apps and view running apps things like Ebay and MP3 music store are running after reboot. I have forced closed them and when I go back into view the running apps they are still showing up. Why aren't they closing? They used to before today.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is my work issued HTC Droid Eris. 100% bone stock factory everything, no root, no flashing, nothing (not even really sure what all that stuff is anyway). Yesterday got the phone off the charger, hit the power button to start up. Phone vibrated and the three skateboarding droids came up as usual and there the phone stayed. Pulled the battery, tried again and same thing, locking up on the three skating droids.
Next I did power+vol down. It goes right to the fastboot, recovery, clear storage, simlock menu. I selected recovery and hit power. Phone vibrates and the three skating droids pop back up for about 5-10 seconds and the I get a picture of a Droid Eris with a red triangle and exclamation mark over it. From this screen I hit power+vol up. This gets me the Android System Recovery menu with Reboot System Now, Apply sdcard: update.zip, Wipe Data / Factory Reset, Wipe cache partition. Down at the bottom, in yellow letters it says "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command" So I select Wipe Data / Factory Reset and hit power. "confirm wipe of all user data?" Yes, does it's thing for a couple minutes. "Data wipe complete" and Android System Recovery menu comes back up. Select Reboot System Now and hit power.
Now the phone reboots, white screen with three skating droids still locked up on that screen. After noticing the "Apply sdcard:update.zip" menu option I downloaded the July 2010 OTA from here. I put it in the root folder of my sd card and the selected "Apply sdcard:update.zip". It started the install from sd card and after just a couple seconds pops up and says "E:signature verification failed Installation aborted." So my phone is still locked up on the skating droids.
i am having an issue that just recently started.when i get a text message with an image attached i can open and view the pict but it only stays open for a few seconds then disappears.this is very frustrating.I never had this problem before it just started recently.I really like my phone, but my patience is running thin.

My phone was plugged in, and I fell asleep on top of it.Now most of the time my phone will automatically scroll to the left.I have reset my phone and tried other ROMs and it's all the same. I read in the forums that there is no fix but that was as of 5-xx-10.So i was wondering.... Is there a fix now or am I going to have to get a new phone?And if i do have to get a new phone... View 2 Replies View RelatedThere is a spec of dust along the left side of the screen about 1" up. Its definatly under the glass and annoying as shit. Also the metal on the frame is so dense that it has 3 small and i mean SMALL pits in the metal.... How is this even possible? I use my iPhone as a coaster for the Droid and it sits in my pocket glass out... They are definatly pitted indentions in the metal as you can run your fingernail across them and feel it. Any ideas if I can go into verizon store to get a replacement for the spec under the glass? I bought it online launch day and have only had it since monday.

The newest version of Android Froyo, as in frozen yogurt was officially announced, despite the fact that we�ve known about it and its features for some time know. The big take-aways are that it is scary fast (2-5x faster than Android 2.1 for CPU-bound activity), browser Javascript performance is 2-3x faster than 2.1, there is a new data backup API, Android is more enterprise-friendly than ever, and app errors are now reported back to developers for better tracking and improving their apps in the future. The SDK was updated and devices get WiFi tethering as well. All told, its a big step forward for Android.Google I/O has revealed what looks to be the final list of handsets getting Froyo, they include:

HTC has also suggested that all HTC phones launched in 2010 would get Android 2.2, and that launch dates for the updates would be released on a per phone basis. I'm not familiar with the normal operation temperature so I don't know if this is off the charts or just above normal.

View 17 Replies View RelatedHopefully someone has had this problem. My phone has just recently started to have this problem. When I am at the home screen, my phone will begin to swipe to the left by itself even when my finger is nowhere near the screen. When tilting the phone or aggravating the accelerometer, it begins to do it more. Also, some of the icons are selected green by itself (but not actually selecting the icon if that makes sense).
Argh, I really don't want to hard reset (not even sure if that'll fix it).
