Media :: Phone Radio App Similar To Pocket Tunes?
Nov 30, 2009Looking for an Android radio app similar to Pocket Tunes for the Iphone/Ipod Touch that will enable me to listen to local/regional BBC stations on my Verizon Droid. Unable to launch BBC's iPlayer as a Flash Player for Android 2.x has not been released yet. Pocket Tunes' rebroadcast does not require a flash player. None of the apps I've tried in Market Place has been able to capture local BBC stations.

I have a PhoneStateListener that performs certain actions during a ringing state, and I want to check if the incoming caller is in the contacts list.
Is there a way to do this without going through the Contacts ContentProvider?

Nov 10, 2009Suppose my application xyz stores a few contacts(just like in the address book/ telephone book). Other contacts are by-default stored in my Android address book. Suppose I receive a call on the handset with my app xyz running in the background. All I need is to fetch the Caller's name from the application xyz and display this name as" Akash Calling..." instead of "+91... calling..." assuming that caller's details are present in the application say, his name and none of his details in the actual address book. Is this feasible.

Sep 16, 2010Trying to sync my i-tunes from my desktop using sync 3.Wouldn't recognise nearly any of my itunes (nearly 1600 songs) and would only sync 30 odd.Occasionally sync would identify there was 8GB of data to sync for music, but would seem to hang on certain songs and then disconnect with a 'Sync failed' notification. I've added a 16gb micro card & formatted it.After much fiddling & whatif analysis, I ended up selecting the songs directly from my 'C' drive.Painfully slow nearly 600 songs added, but nearly cooked the phone in the process eventually got a fail message on the desktop system tray.I abandoned it after that, when I have the inclination, maybe just select an album at a time to stop the phone overheating labour intensive again.

May 4, 2010Has anyone seen a codec for g729 playback. My company uses g729a for its voice mail which I get in my e-mail but can't playback without a codec for a media player. I had one of these for my old WinMo device but can't seem to find one for Android. Any thoughts? Even a different media player with built-in support would work for playing back voice mail on the go.

Jun 11, 2010So, I love that I can link all my contacts to their Facebook profiles, but here's my issue. I have a different picture of my wife that I want to use as her caller ID. I added that picture to her contact, in "People" and it shows the small thumbnail on top when I go to "Edit Contact". I save after adding the pic and save again at the bottom of the edit screen, but it always shows her Facebook profile pic in the contact list and when she calls. The only way to get the other pic is to unlink her FB from the contact. Is it always going to do this as long as it's linked to FB, or is there a way to get the other pic assigned to her caller ID?

Sep 3, 2010I just signed up with Telus and got a HTC Desire and I'm trying to avoid paying for Caller ID. I've tried saving my contacts on my sim card, my phone, and my sd card, but whenever someone calls me it always shows as unknown.Is there a setting or trick to getting Caller ID for free? By the way, all my contacts were imported from my Gmail account where I have their full name, phone numbers, emails etc. Is this enough for my phone to recognize who is calling and show it?
