I want to play/Stream asf files on android. I tried using android media player but i am getting unsupported file type exception. Does any one have experience with asf file formats with android.

Is there anything the Dalvik VM supports (in terms of bytecode) which is not used currently because the .class files don't have it?
As an example, if people would write their own Source-to-DX converter for their functional language XYZ, would they be able to implement e. g. full tail calls although the .class file does support tail calls only under certain circumstances?
I am using a Samsung Galaxy 3 with android 2.2 and I want to install some application what is downloadad from many different sources. So now here is my problem:
1. I copy the choosen .apk file on my SD card.
2. I have downloaded ASTRO file manager.
3. I have ticked the option installing non-android applications.
4. I want to open the apk file from there but when I click on app installer I onyle get a blank screen and under the details I receive the following error message:
Could not open xy.apk as APK file.
In the meantime I have also copied some music files on my mobile, these are all MP3, works fine on my comp however when I wanted to play it on my mobile with several music players it said the file format is not supported...
The phone used to have 2.1 and I made the update manually but after the update...

The company I work for produces allot of video and we want to target as many devices as possible, but the question came up of what does the Android do? I personally own an Android based phone running 2.1, but I can't seem to get the HTML 5 tag to work. Even when I can trigger the browser to playback the video it just throws a notification error that it can't.Are there guidelines to producing Android/HTML 5 compatible videos? Is it truly supported?

Somebody sent me a video (from new samsung fascinate) and when I tried to watch it I only got audio. I have the arcmedia app, which allows me to watch the video, but I think the audio is messed up. No jumping and clear, in sync sound. 720p resolution so the HDMI out should work once the cables are available. h.264 at Level 3.1, 3 reference frames and baseline profile. 1280 x 720 AAC stereo audio at 44100Hz, 128kbps Bit rate does not seem to be all that important as long as the video file is less than 2GB.Muxed to an mp4 container in IMSA standard format and optimized for streaming.

I already escalated a lot of issues but they were not able to fix all of it and they just replaced my phone with new Xperia X2 phone not just once but twice. Unfortunately, some issues are still open and haven't fixed yet. See issues and recreational steps below.
1. Backlight is ON even the phone is turned OFF. Keep open any media file (i.e. picture, video, so on) >> Turn the phone off >> Backlight is still on
2. Battery is drained when the battery is removed and inserted it again. Turn the phone on >> Turn it off >> Remove battery >> Insert battery >> Turn the phone on >> Battery is drained..................
the media provider cleans the media files, if files didn't get read since last two month. does it cleans(delete) the private application media file stored on sdcard, too if didn't get read from last two month? or Appl Private media file does not come under media file?
View 2 Replies View RelatedSamsung Galaxy S getting "Unsupported file format" on .mp3s in AllShare (DLNA). Want to stream music from Windows 7 computer to Android device. Connected AllShare to Windows Media Player 12 over WiFi G network to "Play file from server on my phone". I can browse PC media folders from the Galaxy S. In AllShare, I click an .MP3 from my PC library, add it to the AllShare playlist, then the circle spins for about 10 seconds and I finally get the pop-up error "Unsupported file format." All .mp3's are DRM-free unprotected files. They play fine directly from the MicroSD card through the standard Android Music app. Disconnected/reconnected WiFi, same results. Read a few other posts on various forums, a few people have the same issue. Looks like fewer are even trying to use DLNA like this. Heard plenty of "hypothetical" troubleshooting steps but still searching for someone who's actually tried the steps & got it to work. Some had success with other DLNA media servers or by using different software altogether. I want to specifically stream music from a PC to my SGS using DLNA & WMP. Great for portability. Any "dittos"? Resolutions? By the way this device is AWESOME (Sprint Epic 4G) Also I realize this post is verbose; I want it to easily appear for others' search results. The file type has .emx extension and is in an xml format (the top of the files have <?xml version='1.0' encoding="UTF-8"?> ). I have used various programs from HandBrake to Sony and I can get audio with no video (mp4). I can get audio with still image video (wmv). I had one of these for my old WinMo device but can't seem to find one for Android. Any thoughts? Even a different media player with built-in support would work for playing back voice mail on the go.
