Android :: Check An Incoming Caller Is A Contact In Droid?
Feb 3, 2010When an Android phone receives a call it automatically checks if the call exists in its own contact database. I was wondering if there is a simple way to access that information. I have a PhoneStateListener that performs certain actions during a ringing state, and I want to check if the incoming caller is in the contacts list.
Is there a way to do this without going through the Contacts ContentProvider?

Nov 10, 2009Suppose my application xyz stores a few contacts(just like in the address book/ telephone book). Other contacts are by-default stored in my Android address book. Suppose I receive a call on the handset with my app xyz running in the background. All I need is to fetch the Caller's name from the application xyz and display this name as" Akash Calling..." instead of "+91... calling..." assuming that caller's details are present in the application say, his name and none of his details in the actual address book. Is this feasible.

Is there a way in the OS to really block a caller/sms. I already have sent to VM but what I'd really like is a big go fuck yourself to be sent back to them.
Google Voice would work if it would actually control my other number and not just theirs.
Any ideas/suggests?

Motorola Droid X :: Caller ID Picture Too Small And Low Quality
Sep 20, 2010On the Droid X, the caller ID which is synced from my Facebook or Google account is very low quality and small in size/dimensions. Is there not a setting to show high res quality and to make it appear larger on the screen? I just switched from the Evo and know that it was a similar issue on there. just curious if there is a known work around for the Droid X. Other than that, I am very happy with this phone so far. The build quality is much much better than the Evo's.

Feb 2, 2010I set a ringdroid custom ringtone for my wife's phone calls. A few times in the last week, her call will not activate that ringtone, instead just ringing the default. Also, the last call didn't even have her Caller ID or photo... just the phone number... it's like it didn't recognize she was a contact at all? The only thing I can think of was I was using the music player when she called... is is possibly the "cut-in" that caused the disconnect? Don't know, but I've tried to duplicate it, and it reverts back to "normal" every time I try.

Mar 16, 20101st, I would like to say that for the most part, Im happy with the Moment. The extended battery life after the update was a BIG plus.But i have a question. I used a samsung m520 slider for about a year before getting into the smartphones. The m520 would "announce" incoming calls.. It was very handy being im in construction and work with my hands all day. I would hear " call from home" or "call from" Whoever was calling as long as they were in my contact list.. Now with the Moment, i get a call and have to reach into my pocket, and look to see who is calling.. Kinda defeats the purpose. with my fingers all dirty, full of liquid nail, or caulk.. hell, mud even.. kinda sucks to grab my phone to see who is calling.. at that point, i could lift it up to my ear and talk. Does anyone know how to make this phone "announce" incoming calls? I called sprint on this issue, after trying to figure it out, they referred me to Samsung, who conected me with a "level 2" tech who told me to call google! So, I did, and google does not support the phone! any one know of an app? or a way to kick this in gear?

Feb 11, 2010I just got my Droid yesterday and all of the sudden about two hours ago my girlfriend said she tried calling me for the last 40 min and my phone would ring once and go to voicemail. Earlier in the day i called Verizon to cancel my Visual Voicemail and after the rep did that for me he told me to dial *228 and select option 2 to update my roaming features....so I did.
Since then my girlfriend had the issue of her calls going to voicemail and my phone not even ringing. Can *228 cause this issue? Is this a common problem? I called Verizon back and the rep told me to dial *228 and hit option 1 to reprogram my phone. I did it and tried calling my phone from my other line and it is working fine. I can make calls no problem too. I calle my Droid about 15 times and everytime it went through. Is it possible for a specific person's phone to have an issue getting through to another phone?
Motorola Droid X :: Not Able To Answer Incoming Call
Aug 17, 2010So the other day i got a call and i pulled the phone out of my pocket and tried to slide to answer and nothing happned. I tried to slide it to drop the call and nothing happened. I then mashed a bunch of buttons in frustration and think i rebooted my phone. It did it again to me today, though after about 10 seconds it finally allowed me to answer the phone. I have weatherbug going without GPS as that killed the battery, also have pocket empires going today.

Apr 3, 2010Often my Droid will only ring one time for an incoming call. If the call is left unanswered it is auto-answered after a "normal" amount of time. But I can watch the screen of my quiet Droid after the initial ring and count the seconds until it's auto-answered with my recorded greeting. It should be ringing during that time.
It seems to do this randomly, though it's really tough to troubleshoot and tell definitively. I sat for two hours with my wife's Droid, my laptop phone program and our regular house phone and got consistently inconsistent results!
I've yanked every phone call specific app and reinstalled them systematically, rebooting each time. I've taken a look at system apps to see if there is a conflict. I've also looked at (and pulled & reinstalled) audio setting apps looking for a conflict.
I've changed ring tones to MP3 clips, and while they do play in their entirety, they usually repeat and they are not. I've even done a hack to the system/build.prop file that changes the delay before the phone rings.
I just can't seem to figure out what's going on. Anyone have any ideas?

Apr 16, 2010It seems like I am just missing something obvious. I receive an SMS or incoming call from someone's new cell. I want to update an existing contact. I long press the number click add to contacts, but when I chose a contact it doesn't include the number. I end up writing the number down and then updating it manually. Sorry if this is a repeat post but the words are just too common I wasn't able to find anything. Everyone seems to just add to contacts with those steps but I'm just not getting the numbers I inputted anywhere.

I'm not sure if the caller on the other end can hear me or not.In the meantime, I've switched my vocoder options back to the factory default to see if maybe that helps.
