View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I did an update about a year ago I could no longer get mms messages. Then there was an update a few months ago and all of a sudden I was able to receive MMS again. Then I updated again 2 days ago and again, cannot see MMS from certain people.. HTC phones I think. I was on the phone w/ ATT and Samsung yesterday for about 2 hours. I finally did what they said-backup on Kies and factory reset. Not only did the reset not fix the MMS issue, Kies did NOT back up my phone. Just like that, my phone has lost everything. Because of gmail, I got my apps back... but all blank, like I had never used them. Lost my texts, contacts, etc.. and still not receiving MMS.

FF tell me there is no longer support and don't explain if that means for now or ever. Chrome has the usual flash not compatible bs they always come out with. Dolphin now seems to have joined Chrome. Puffin just shows blank screens. If this isn't temporary then android tablets are merely web browsers.

View 19 Replies View RelatedI rooted my desire about a month ago, and only used root access for backups. last week i got the OTA update to 2.2 and installed it, but now i think i no longer have root access. i was doing something (i forget what now) and it told me i need root access to do the task. i still have superuser permissions on my app list, but im not totally convinced. is there an easy way to find out if i still have root access?

View 1 Replies View RelatedLast week I received the 2.1 update on the HTC Hero. I love it, BUT, i can no longer force lock my screen. Previously I could press the 'power/end call' button once to lock my phone. I can't do this any more. Is anyone else experiencing this? My only option currently, is to let my screen time out (set to 15 secs) and then my phone locks itself, but I cannot force this manually. It's rather frustrating - a lot goes on in my pockets in 15 seconds!
View 7 Replies View RelatedI woke up this morning with about 45% battery after 2.5 days on standby and i installed the updated while charging the phone. after the update successfully installed it started charging again at 49% and its taking a lot longer to charge. im guessing this maybe a good thing..before this i got 3-4 days without charging (many emails on phone, texts, a few calls) and i had gps off and htc sense for facebook off, now im going to see how long it lasts with those two things on, since this update addressed the issue with facebook for htc sense.

I then went into the Google Mail application and can see its not showing any emails in the inbox and its not downloading any mail in "All items" either. Its only showing emails prior to the update. If I hit refresh it spins for a few moments and I see the data arrows indicate transfer but it doesnt refresh the inbox.

Additionally, once in a while when exiting a program none of the buttons are on the home screen for 3-5 seconds, and sometimes a Force Close error pertaining to the home activity will pop up ... anyone else experience anything similar, or even just notice a longer boot time?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have this phone for probably two months now. Overall I'm quite happy considering I have an old one for more than five years.
However, I have two issues that are really bugging me. I think it might have occurred after the froyo update although I'm not sure.
My first issue is the GPS. I takes much longer than before to find my location although when it does it is very accurate. Lots of time it's more than five minutes. It was much faster before. I don't know what's going on!
Second I have 4G problem. If I serf the web with 4G, I'm fine. When I turn on my tethering more than 90% of the time, it will automatically revert back to 3G even if I have good connection (two or more bars). This is quite maddening to say the least. Was wondering if anyone has any ideas. Will a factory reset.
adbd insecure no longer works on the GS3 4.3 update.
I updated to SuperSU 1.80 and CF-Autoroot worked fine, but now adbd insecure says "Binary: Insecure, USB debugging: Disabled" even though I did enable USB debugging. In Eclipse DDMS it just shows the phone as "Offline" but if I change back to "Binary: Original" it will show up normally, except of course I can't access most of the files. If I toggle the USB debugging checkbox off and back on, it will read "Binary: Original, USB Debugging: Enabled" but no combination of turning things on and off on the phone will ever get both "Binary: Insecure" and "USB Debugging: Enabled" to show up together now.
My app is downloading a file that does not need to be kept. So I was trying to put it in the directory returned by Environment.getDownloadCacheDirectory() (that returns "/cache").
But apparently it is not accessible, (a FileNotFoundException is thrown).
I updated my GS4 to android 4.4 Kitkat through Samsung Kies. It seemed to be running smoothly initially but soon it began to crash randomly. When I tried to turn it on again it would crash again. At this point it was on about 40% charge so I plugged it in and it turned on with no problems. I had no such issues using android 4.3. It now dies at around 40-50% charge and won't turn on every time until I plug it in. It had crossed my mind that it could be an issue with my device battery but seeing as I have never had any battery troubles before the update, I think that the new firmware is likely the cause of my woes.

But now the phone dialpad does not load at all the first time I touch the dialpad icon (it brings up a small white panel layout). Pressing the dialpad again second time loads up the new cool dialpad introduced in 4.4.2 kitkat update.

ok, so i just updated my HTC Hero to the new 2.1. So far i am enjoying the updated UI however, i have noticed some changes, for instance, before i could easily assign ringtones to anyone now when i try to assign tones that are saved on my sd card to specific contacts it will not allow me to do so. The phone now only lets me set a default tone which can be any tone (sd card or factory) but all contacts have this tone & i cannot assign specific tones for certain contacts.

When i search it into the android market it doesn't show up, the only place i can find it is on google play but i cant download it as it is incompatable.
Why could i download it before but not now, i have the system specification so i should be able to download it.
We are using SharedPreferences(Not default preferences.) to store our application related settings. These settings are not accessible in the background service as the application context is different from service context. It always returns the default values. We want to have our own UI to manage settings. So, we don't want to use PreferenceActivity.
Is there a way or hack to access SharedPreferences from inside a service which are created by application?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am on Three UK, and I manually searched for an update for my Galaxy Note 3 today, while on my wireless network. My phone showed that a KitKat 4.4.2 update was available which was approx. 391 MB in size. Downloaded and installed it.
The install worked fine, but after the install, my phone seems to be draining the battery at 1% every minute. I have turned off GPS, wireless, mobile data etc. but to no avail.I don't even have Skype installed on my phone (as Google asked some users to uninstall Skype)
My phone updated last night and afterwards I've been experiencing problems. I had 6 apps in the bottom bar including the apps button and I was forced to remove one so the others would fit. My main concern is that my mobile data on off switch in the notification bar is no longer there.
