i have a HTC Desire and although i used to get them at first i am no longer getting the notifications when apps are ready for update, i have the settings clicked to alert me but i have had several apps needed updates recently and none gave me the notification, has any body else had this issue and how can it be resolved, not a majot issue but just frustrating.

So if mAh is 2x higher than stock, it will last 2x as long, under same conditions. I did a mock-up of what it would be like with the "extended battery door", which is pretty close to what is pictures, and it felt easier to type using the hard keyboard.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI rooted my desire about a month ago, and only used root access for backups. last week i got the OTA update to 2.2 and installed it, but now i think i no longer have root access. i was doing something (i forget what now) and it told me i need root access to do the task. i still have superuser permissions on my app list, but im not totally convinced. is there an easy way to find out if i still have root access?

View 17 Replies View RelatedBought one of those 1A car chargers from Ebay that have been much talked about on the forums. Very happy with it, until today. Tootling along with sat nav on, and Google girl robotically jibberjabbering at me, when I noticed the phone had stopped charging. Charge was about 60% so it wasn't full. Looked at the charger socket and the charging light had gone out then looked at phone and it no longer had the charging indicator on the battery.
I unplugged the charger from the phone and lo and behold the light on the socket charger came back on indicating it was ready to charge. So I plugged it back into the phone and the light went out again! Seems as if sometimes the phone wont let itself be charged? I don't the thing the charger is at fault as it has been working fine, and looks ok when I disconnect the phone from it.
Since getting HTC's unbranded 2.2 on my Desire I'm no longer getting notifications about apps that have been updated on the Market. The notifications option is set to "Notify when items are updated" and I've tried various combinations of disabling and enabling it and rebooting the phone and still I'm not getting notifications for updates. I always got notified when I had 2.1.I've posted this a few times in the bugs thread, but it just gets lost in all the other talk, which is why I've started this thread.

I used android market to get the Gmail widget (the one where the icon has the message coming out of the envelope and it looks like a red 'M'). That was working fine and I was getting my e-mails without any problems.The other day, I was tinkering with settings and I set up the HTC Mail widget, which I (stupidly) linked to the same Gmail account. I started to receive double notifications for my e-mails. I quickly realized I preferred the Gmail widget I was using previously, so I removed my account from the HTC Mail widget.So, my problem is that I no longer receive any notifications from the original Gmail widget when I get new e-mails. In fact, I no longer receive any notifications when I get e-mails. I have gone through all the settings I could find and all notifications are set to update automatically and alert me. The only thing I have not yet done is the account reset because this says I will have to reset my phone to factory settings and I don't want to lose everything I have on it at this point.

I've gone through EVERY possible setting, in the messaging app, in K-9, and the standard phone settings, to ensure that Vibrate Notification is indeed on, and yet it does not work. It doesn't matter if my phone is on Vibrate Mode, Silent Mode, or Normal Mode, no vibration notifications.
I've tried restarting the phone, nothing works.
My Haptic Feedback works perfectly.

At the beginning of the quarter (~25 September), it had no problems informing me of my events. I tried to update my angry birds and adobe air. My htc desire was fine during the download, but then when it started installing, my phone would say update successfulness. The same thing happened when i tried to install some new apps.
I have a good ROM that I've been using for months now. The only gripe I have is not being able to update maps, gmail and other preinstalled apps. I also want to uninstall Titanium Backup but am not able to. Is there any way to do these?

View 3 Replies View RelatedGot a problem since 2.2 thats bugging me and draining battery life, in 2.1 I'd used Advanced Task Killer to kill all Apps I did'nt want which was fine, more often than not it was just Apps i'd manually started that popped up for killing. Now I find in 2.2 that theres Apps that start running without me even opening them and sometimes its 7-8 Apps at once which cant be good for battery life (and I've noticed a drop in that). Anyone else finding this? Anyway to stop apps Automatically starting once I connect to the Internet for example? as alot of them pop up after I do that, but other times the phones on idle and I select ATK and theres some appeared on it, last thing I want to do is check ATK every 10mines just to save battery.

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe last couple of days I've noticed I can't browse or update apps like Android Facebook, Android Twitter and Google Mail and can't browse the Market when I'm connected to the mobile network on 3. This happens even when the notification tray has the H or G symbol and up- and downstream icons are animating. I've checked through the Mobile Network settings and can't see that I've changed anything by accident. The strange thing is the Friend Stream updates when I'm connected to the mobile network.
Does anybody know what I might be missing?
I've had my HTC Desire for about 2 weeks. I have searched through the forums for info...but between threads getting off track or just not understanding anything, I thought it would be easier to ask basic questions about my particular issues.
1) What is root? I have the 2.2 update, I am happy enough with HTC and my carrier (Telus) and I don't need tonnes of room right now.
2) Speaking of room, I try to put my apps on my SD card with the 2.2 update but only Google Earth and Night Sky are able to do it. All of my icon packs etc. wont go to SD. I'm pretty sure I have lots of room left so I dont think this is a huge issue.
3) Battery issues. I didn't do the first full charge as I had to use the phone asap when I bought it. I don't have much going on with my phone, no active wallpapers, just weather toggle and clock, text and a few phone calls, check a couple websites, maybe a video here and there, and sometime use GPS for maps. I keep my screen on zero percent and I soft touch the power button to go black screen when i'm idle. I turn off gps and wifi when not using them. With that said, I cant keep the phone idle and off charge overnight without it going to zero. After a charge I lose 10-20% in the first hour. I have never lasted a day on a full charge.
4) After playing around with customizing my phone with icons and widgets I am done. All I need this phone to do is make phones calls, text and check my favorite websites. I use my tracks when I go running and listen to music when I run. Thats all I want it to do. Its a phone so I would love if it could keep a charge in case of an emergency. I was late for dinner the other night because my battery died and I couldn't even call to say I was late! so....
5) What do you recommend I do with my phone to keep it as basic as possible and powered up?
6) What are the key apps to make this the best user experience?
7) When in my pocket I lock screen but once I found that I had 23 unsuccessful attempts to open screen from jiggling around in my pocket lol. Is there anything to help me with that?
Just looking to sort issue since update to 2.1, i can no longer pair my x10 with ps3 headset. Any ideas?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLast week I received the 2.1 update on the HTC Hero. I love it, BUT, i can no longer force lock my screen. Previously I could press the 'power/end call' button once to lock my phone. I can't do this any more. Is anyone else experiencing this? My only option currently, is to let my screen time out (set to 15 secs) and then my phone locks itself, but I cannot force this manually. It's rather frustrating - a lot goes on in my pockets in 15 seconds!
View 7 Replies View RelatedI woke up this morning with about 45% battery after 2.5 days on standby and i installed the updated while charging the phone. after the update successfully installed it started charging again at 49% and its taking a lot longer to charge. im guessing this maybe a good thing..before this i got 3-4 days without charging (many emails on phone, texts, a few calls) and i had gps off and htc sense for facebook off, now im going to see how long it lasts with those two things on, since this update addressed the issue with facebook for htc sense.
