HTC EVO 4G :: Speaker Blew Out - Took Phone To Sprint
Nov 24, 2010Both speakers in my phone went out...since i've had the phone for about 5 months? I maybe have a combined usage of 2 hours talk time. goto Best Buy "it's a manufacturer defect, we'd have to send it in" die in a fire guy. goto Sprint, pay 35$ to fix it. The reciept shows they only replaced the speaker(s). Both work fine now so I'm all 'wooooo', however, closer inspection, the camera glass isn't cracked like it used to be, andi had a crack in the shell on the bottom left next to the home button, it's gone. Pull off batt cover and its spotless underneath it. Should I assume i have a new/refurb phone and not my old phone with new speakers? I don't mind, phone looks MINT, also, my kickstand isn't squeaky anymore, ha.

Aug 28, 2010For the people who don't know, it takes 2 seconds (approximately) to help out thousands of people and become an AndroidForums celebrity! There are thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of people waiting for the Update.zip so they can manually update and finally end their longtime wait for Froyo.But the problem is everyone is seeing the notification and going "Oh hey, wow...yeah! Froyo!" and proceeds to install! And by you doing this, you get Froyo and everyone else is still stuck in a giant circle jerk, waiting for some generous person to share the update. So here's what you do. When the update pops up on your phone. Go into Astro File Manager (if you don't have it, download it from the Market) and go into the SDcard file system. You will see a file called "Update.zip" long press on it, select edit, copy, and then paste a copy of it in a folder of your choice on your SDcard. Later, hook your phone up to your computer and go into the file system, and get that Update.zip file out of that file that you chose and upload it to any file hosting site. Megauploads, rapidshare, even Google Docs would suffice. But a lot of people are waiting for this update! If you don't want to go through the steps to upload it to a file share website, private message me, I will give u my e-mail, u can e-mail it to me, and I will upload it to a file sharing site.

May 11, 2010I have been trawling around these forums for a long time, and firstly wanted to say thanks to all of those veterans around here passing on their knowledge - its guys like you that make this place work.I wanted to start an official screenshot thread - in part to compare, show off, and get ideas, but also in order to allow newer members to ask questions about certain home screen widgets, what does what, and how things can be made so pretty! It took me a long time and lots of research to get mine how it is, and it would be great if we can help others achieve this a little more easily. In particular, i want to thank Drakaz for his amazing work on Galaxo 1.6.3 - anyone who is using his firmware and has the means should seriously consider a small show of gratitude; he saved me oodles of cash by improving the galaxy to the point that when i was about to give up on it and buy a new phone i didnt have to as he make it usable. So without further ado, here is my overclocked Galaxo 1.6.3.1 Samsung i7500; any q's at all, feel free to shoot Btw, one last thing - i just thought it would be interesting to note that uploading these screenshots has mate me realise how truly awesome the Galaxy OLED screen is. My PC has an excellent high resolution LED backlit screen, but has no where near the contrast or vibrancy of my galaxy screen. On my PC the background and general theme does not look anywhere near as good as it does on my phone.

Jul 27, 2010I placed my order for a Droid X for me and my wife on Friday at 6pm and I got notification that I will receive them both TODAY.I am pretty excited to get rid of my iPhone 3G and her to get rid of the dreaded Sidekick. I think she might be the last person on Earth with a Sidekick. I just traded my 3gs for this phone and boy do I miss my 3gs, it was much easier to use. Just when I though this was the worst phone possible, now this weird quirk Hopefully the 2.1 update will help with the crapiness of the keyboard and how leggy the phone really is.

Jun 23, 2010I'm sure the engineers who build these phones are quite brilliant individuals, and certainly, at least one of them has figured out by now that, "Hey, if we put the speaker on the back of the phone, the sound is going to be muffled when the phone rings!"So I'm just curious if there is some logistical/technical reason why this is done? I figure it would be much better design-wise to put the speaker on the front, or maybe even on the bottom. Other than not being able to see the screen in direct sunlight, this is the only real gripe I have about the phone thus far.Also, do you guys lay the phone face down when not using it, assuming you'd otherwise sleep right through the phone ringing when sitting on its back?

Sep 20, 2010There have already been several requests for information on how to downgrade back to the official 2.2. The following process will remove root. Whether you need to return a phone or you just want to clean the slate and go back to stock, here is how to get there:
Note: Your SD card MUST be formatted to FAT32 before proceeding. The file will not be recognized otherwise. If you have yet to format, remember that formatting wipes the card. Be sure to copy/move your SD contents to a safe place (PC desktop) and replace after the formatting process. I will not go into the procedure in this thread as it is easily found with a Google search.
1.) Need to return a phone and currently have S-Off? (aka Unrevoked Forever) If so, please visit public:forever [RootWiki] where you can download the latest S-On tool and the process to load to your phone. If you want to keep S-Off and just return to the official 2.2, skip to step 2.
2.) Download the 2.2 PB31IMG.zip (extracted from the official 2.2 RUU)

Note the file size (172 MB) and the MD5 (31BB1611A0FA8197D447C0438426717E) to ensure a successful download and file integrity. If you have questions about how to verify MD5, please see post #2 of this thread.
3.) Attach phone to PC with USB debugging on and in disk drive mode.
4.) Access the SD storage and drag the PB31IMG.zip from the desktop onto the root of the SD card (any open area, do not place into a folder).
5.) Swipe down notification bar on phone and change to charge only.
6.) Unplug phone from PC and turn off phone.
7.) Hold volume down while pressing power button to enter hboot.
8.) PB31IMG.zip should be automatically recognized in hboot. Press volume up to continue with update. Do NOT interrupt.
9.) When finished, reboot to stock 2.2 and verify the following information at Menu > Settings > About Phone:
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.07.28
Software Number: 3.26.605.1
10.) Remove the PB31IMG.zip from the SD card to avoid an inadvertant reload in the future. You are now unrooted and on stock 2.2

May 24, 2010Is it just my phone, I was just on the phone with someone that was on a landline, I noticed it was a little garbly (is that a word LOL) and a little hard to understand, almost like the beginning of each word was cutting off, I decided to put him on speaker phone so I can write stuff down and the phone call was now crystal clear. Anyone else notice that their speaker phone sounds better then if they are not on speaker phone?

Thinking of taking in for a defect exchange (had since day one). And I don't listen to music/videos with the volume cranked up.
