HTC EVO 4G :: Speaker Blew Out - Took Phone To Sprint

Both speakers in my phone went out...since i've had the phone for about 5 months? I maybe have a combined usage of 2 hours talk time. goto Best Buy "it's a manufacturer defect, we'd have to send it in" die in a fire guy. goto Sprint, pay 35$ to fix it. The reciept shows they only replaced the speaker(s). Both work fine now so I'm all 'wooooo', however, closer inspection, the camera glass isn't cracked like it used to be, andi had a crack in the shell on the bottom left next to the home button, it's gone. Pull off batt cover and its spotless underneath it. Should I assume i have a new/refurb phone and not my old phone with new speakers? I don't mind, phone looks MINT, also, my kickstand isn't squeaky anymore, ha.

Yes. You read it correctly. So somehow its blown, I can't set it too high or it cracks. Any remedies? Help? Explain your story and offer any tips!

I did a wipe and clean install for Fresh 2.1.1 and have no speak phone on phone calls. I have nothing from the speaker.Tested it a few times, never works with a phone call.Speaker works for media - MP3 and custom ringers etc.Is the a known issue and or fix for this ?

I finally changed the voicemail system on my Hero from Sprint's "visual voicemail" (which is misleading because it doesn't transcribe voicemails) to Google Voice. It's nice to see my transcribed voicemails now. However, when I actually want to hear them (if the transcription didn't work well), it only comes through the external speaker; the speaker on the back of the phone. I went into Google Voice settings and under "Voicemail Playback" I tried the only two options: "Play via Handset" and "Play via Speaker." Unfortunately, both play through the speaker phone speaker. How do I change it to the phone speaker? I also can't adjust the volume, so the whole world hears my voicemails through the external speaker.

So I was blowing on my screen to blow off an eye lash and my messages widget was activated Anybody else experience this? I just traded my 3gs for this phone and boy do I miss my 3gs, it was much easier to use. Just when I though this was the worst phone possible, now this weird quirk Hopefully the 2.1 update will help with the crapiness of the keyboard and how leggy the phone really is.

I have been looking everywhere for a compatible dock/cradle for the HTC Sprint Hero that has the ability to charge the phone while also including external speakers for music playback while at work and/or home. Something similar to one of the ipod style speaker docks would be phenomenal. I even thought of buying of those styles and then getting an ipod to mini usb adapter for the Hero to plug into. I just don't know if it would work properly. It sounds like a good idea. Has anyone else found an alternative or tried something similar to this?

I could not find a specific thread about my question so i thought i would start one. is anyone else having the issue on their speaker that it gets distorted when the volume is high. plus i think the sound is not even that loud when its high. is this how the sprint htc hero is or do i need to get a new one?

Sometime I like speakerphone. I hate having to turn it on everytime. Is the a setting that automatically turns it on when you dial? So when I hit call it defaults to speaker.

I really want those characters people use on Facebook: hearts, smiley face, sun, etc. My best friend has a BB and says I can gwt them if i have auto text. I've Google the info and it there was one page that said to get the smart keyboard pro app. I have no idea in how to use it or get those cute little symbols. Please, anyine, HELP!!

I'm sure the engineers who build these phones are quite brilliant individuals, and certainly, at least one of them has figured out by now that, "Hey, if we put the speaker on the back of the phone, the sound is going to be muffled when the phone rings!"So I'm just curious if there is some logistical/technical reason why this is done? I figure it would be much better design-wise to put the speaker on the front, or maybe even on the bottom. Other than not being able to see the screen in direct sunlight, this is the only real gripe I have about the phone thus far.Also, do you guys lay the phone face down when not using it, assuming you'd otherwise sleep right through the phone ringing when sitting on its back?

First, whenever I make or receive a call the speaker on message appears and my phone calls all are on speaker. I can't seem to fix that, I looked in settings but can't figure out what happened and how to fix.
Secondly, for some reason when I am in a program and hit the "home" icon my Evo no longer opens the home menu and allows me to go to other programs on my home screen. I am forced to hit the back arrow on the phone which is annoying. So if I am browsing like 10 web pages I have to go back to the first page to the first page I opened of the internet , then it allows me to press the "home" icon. very inconvenient...
Please tell me what I did wrong, i don't recall hitting any buttons to change these settings.

The metal bar at the top of the speaker hurts my ear when I talk on my phone. Its mostly when I have to press the phone against my ear like if some talks quietly and the volume is all the way up. I fixed this by putting a case on my phone but I have an extended battery and door on the way so I won't be able to use my case anymore. My question is does this bother anyone else and is there any way I can fix this?

50% of the time when I answer my phone it automaticlly goes to speaker.Has anyone else had this problem? And if you did how did you fix it, I haven't found a setting that applies to the speaker to turn it on/off when the phone is answered.

I am able play a media using MediaPlayer. The media played via the ear piece. But how can I play the media with speaker phone? I have tried: AudioManager audio Manager = (AudioManager) mActivity.getSystemService(Context.AUDIO_SERVICE); audio Manager.setSpeakerphoneOn(true); but that does not work. And I have added this to my Manifest file <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.MODIFY_AUDIO_SETTINGS" /> Can someone please tell me what am i missing?

Is it just my phone, I was just on the phone with someone that was on a landline, I noticed it was a little garbly (is that a word LOL) and a little hard to understand, almost like the beginning of each word was cutting off, I decided to put him on speaker phone so I can write stuff down and the phone call was now crystal clear. Anyone else notice that their speaker phone sounds better then if they are not on speaker phone?

I was just talking to a friend on my phone and for some reason the speaker started to kind of vibrate/buzz like when frquencies match and it makes something vibrate. Is it just that; there's a certain frequency and it matches that of my speaker? Or is it a hardware(?) problem?

People cannot hear me on speaker phone. I'm not sure if it's because I SBF'ed back to stock, which may be different than when I first got the phone? Other than that, my phone is perfect. I would hate to have to go through a refurb. I was wondering if it was possibly a software issue.

Does anyone else get bad quality at medium to higher volumes through normal calls (not speakerphone). Anything over two notches from muted gives me a wierd vibrating noise when the other end is talking semi high pitched and consistently. It sounds almost robotic or like paper. I didnt know if this was just my phone, the majority, or all epics suffer from this problem.

I have a car stereo with bluetooth.I don't want to start a debate about sound quality of the music through Bluetooth.What I would like to know is if anyone has figured out how to get the music to go through the bluetooth speaker WHILE having the navigation go through the phone speaker.For me that is the optimal situation and would hopefully not have the Navigation interrupt the music instead allow them to both be going on at once.
