I placed my order for a Droid X for me and my wife on Friday at 6pm and I got notification that I will receive them both TODAY.I am pretty excited to get rid of my iPhone 3G and her to get rid of the dreaded Sidekick. I think she might be the last person on Earth with a Sidekick. But this will be our first Android phones and I am sure there will be a learning curve but I am a pretty big computer geek so it should be fun. I am sure I will be asking plenty of questions as well.

Being that its now 12:01 A.M. here I went to Menu->about phone->System Updates and checked for updates.. Its currently pulling down an update as we speak! It looks like our update has finally arrived! I am non-rooted so Im not sure how you root users are doing!

So I thought to help the madness on the others threads that we could make one with all of the pros and cons we have seen in the new official update to help people see what they should do as far as force it or root and etc.Flash is not included so you have to find it in dumb ways and it is not in the market.No more vibrate and silent modes being separate.

I figured that since most of us will be getting the Droid X next week, I�ll start up a thread for then, where we can post our pics thoughts and all that, I am not getting mine yet, I am taking summer classes so the X is an incentive, if I get excellent grades� So feel free to post pics, for those that already have them, just make sure it is appropriately sized� Enjoy your Droid X!Please post pictures and give a little opinion on what you felt, so others, like me, can benefit, and for those who have not quite made up thier minds, this might be all they need

I just can't help but wonder if the Droid X is going to be released with 2.1 deliberately. I mean, of course its deliberate but I believe it can be considered a Vanilla class device, so it kinda makes sense. Look at it like just another way to beat out the iPhone 4, since there will undoubtedly be a root for the X within days. The fact that it has 2.1 upon shipping makes it that much easier I would think. I know it has some degree of Moto's custom tweaks but there should be much demand to root this phone I would think. Then again maybe for most people the addition of wifi tethering the legit way on 2.2 would deter people especially since its clocked at 1ghz.

"Given that I am in the process of switching from my Sprint HTC Hero over to a Verizon HTC DROID Eris I have been paying more attention lately to accessories for the Eris, one of which was extended batteries. Personally I am not really sure that I need one, but at the same time, a little extra juice is always a welcomed option for a smartphone especially when you are a heavy user.That said, it seems that Seidio has two options available, a 1750mAh and a 3500mAh which are selling for $49.95 and $69.95 respectively.The main difference here, aside from the 3500 offering more juice (and being more expensive) is that the 1750 model was designed to fit with the original battery cover. And that means no extra thickness. The 3500mAh battery on the other hand will add some extra thickness, though its said to only be 3-4mm. The nice part here is that this battery does come with the replacement back cover.

Got the ota at about 5 am this morning, but it froze and didn't work. So when I restarted it said no update available. Wonder if there's something wrong with me phone.

i'm sure this has been asked before but, with 2.01 and 2.1 things may have changed and as these are/have *just* come out I felt it was worth asking:I'm looking at either a driod or HD2. Now I really like the HD2 BUT it has the usual HTC BS issues with a buggy frontend and generaly, like all HTC stuff, being excellent in principle but rushed out and becomes major fail. So, this brings me to a Milestone (i'm in the UK).I'm very tempted by this as its similar in form factor to my current Acer M900 - large screen and slide keyboard. But before I do, i'm a little confused by some stuff and was hoping you guys can help me please?
- I'm looking at a Milestone being a UK person, can I use ROM's for a Droid and still retain the multi-touch feature?
- I have read over the past few days that some Droids can auto-reboot. Does this also affect Milestones and have the new 2.01 updates fixed it? Do we know if the 2.1 will defo fix?
- I am a hardcore Office user on my WinMobs, can I get full office functionality on the Droid? I need full outlook sync including tasks. I need to be able to edit Excel and Word and at least look at PowerPoint presentations.
- I also need OneNote or something VERY similar on Android that will sync to my PC as well, can this be done
- I have read that the keyboard can be akward, sadly I have no idea where to try one in the UK so, honestly, is it useable or too cramped
- Battery life - i'd need full push email for 7am to 10pm, can the phone battery handle this
- The HTC HD2 has the usual issue where when locked it will require a reboot to "wake it up" again, does anything like this happen with the Milestone? Its highly embarrasing and VERY frustrating to go to take notes in a meeting only to find I need to reboot before I can....

If i factory reset from the recovery screen, what will i lose? And will i have to re-activate? Im wondering because i like doing the setup and also i have a bunch of stuff im to lazy to delete and would like a clean start. And also, i just upgraded to new froyo leak, how do i go back to 2.1 for the official OTA?

I have been trawling around these forums for a long time, and firstly wanted to say thanks to all of those veterans around here passing on their knowledge - its guys like you that make this place work.I wanted to start an official screenshot thread - in part to compare, show off, and get ideas, but also in order to allow newer members to ask questions about certain home screen widgets, what does what, and how things can be made so pretty! It took me a long time and lots of research to get mine how it is, and it would be great if we can help others achieve this a little more easily. In particular, i want to thank Drakaz for his amazing work on Galaxo 1.6.3 - anyone who is using his firmware and has the means should seriously consider a small show of gratitude; he saved me oodles of cash by improving the galaxy to the point that when i was about to give up on it and buy a new phone i didnt have to as he make it usable. So without further ado, here is my overclocked Galaxo 1.6.3.1 Samsung i7500; any q's at all, feel free to shoot Btw, one last thing - i just thought it would be interesting to note that uploading these screenshots has mate me realise how truly awesome the Galaxy OLED screen is. My PC has an excellent high resolution LED backlit screen, but has no where near the contrast or vibrancy of my galaxy screen. On my PC the background and general theme does not look anywhere near as good as it does on my phone.

Helpful people on forums naturally give out all the news as and when it comes, so.If you think, "Sod it... I'll get it when they're ready to give me it", then join me here! Pour a drink, roll a number.... and chill... maybe even talk about something else in the meantime?(Haha - sorry guys... Here is the reason for my confusion. There were a lot of back and forth between UD team and Koush with UD 9.8. Ultimately UD withdrew from ROM manager and Koush put up an "unofficial" version of it on ROM manager. Today the UD 10 is now listed on the ROM manager. Is it official? There was a thread about this on DF but the mods closed it with statement" in light of today's events the thread is closed and all comments deleted". So what is going on if anyone knows?

I've never modded/rooted my Droid X, right. I do the manual update Settings - About - Update or whatever and it updates. It supposedly finishes and after it reboots I get stuck @ the Motorola "M" screen indefinitely. After that it wouldn't start up @ all and wouldn't respond to anything. So now I'm attempting an SBF root. Is this the right thing to do?

I couldn't find the answer to my question even though this thread seems to dance around it.
There is pretty much only ONE reason i want root on my droid x: to rename all VZW bloatware. That's it. I don't want to overclock. I don't want to get rid of blur. I don't want to custom theme or anything. All i want is to rename the bloatware apk's to bak's.
So my question is, if i root my original 2.1 droid x and change the bloatware app names, when the OTA is getting pushed, will i receive it and be able to upgrade just fine? I realize that if i get the official 2.2 it should break my root and i'm ok with that because right now for me official 2.2 > official 2.1 with bloatware renamed. Mainly since i am confident 2.2 will be rooted soon after it comes out.
Lastly, is the universal and root still the simplest way to root droid x 2.1?

I am able to access my photos, friends etc but when I click on News Feed, I get "No Content. An error has occurred while fetching data. MalformedJSON" Deleted/re-installed and made no difference.
