As the title says, what has been using your battery? I charged mine this morning and have been using it pretty heavy but 5 hours later i'm at 20%....not gonna make it through the end of the day. With that said, i would like to compare with other people. Here's mine as much as i love the phone, the battery on the inc. Is pretty pathetic imo. Code...

Got the ota at about 5 am this morning, but it froze and didn't work. So when I restarted it said no update available. Wonder if there's something wrong with me phone.

View 10 Replies View RelatedFor the people who don't know, it takes 2 seconds (approximately) to help out thousands of people and become an AndroidForums celebrity! There are thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of people waiting for the Update.zip so they can manually update and finally end their longtime wait for Froyo.But the problem is everyone is seeing the notification and going "Oh hey, wow...yeah! Froyo!" and proceeds to install! And by you doing this, you get Froyo and everyone else is still stuck in a giant circle jerk, waiting for some generous person to share the update. So here's what you do. When the update pops up on your phone. Go into Astro File Manager (if you don't have it, download it from the Market) and go into the SDcard file system. You will see a file called "Update.zip" long press on it, select edit, copy, and then paste a copy of it in a folder of your choice on your SDcard. Later, hook your phone up to your computer and go into the file system, and get that Update.zip file out of that file that you chose and upload it to any file hosting site. Megauploads, rapidshare, even Google Docs would suffice. But a lot of people are waiting for this update! If you don't want to go through the steps to upload it to a file share website, private message me, I will give u my e-mail, u can e-mail it to me, and I will upload it to a file sharing site.

It took me a long time and lots of research to get mine how it is, and it would be great if we can help others achieve this a little more easily. In particular, i want to thank Drakaz for his amazing work on Galaxo 1.6.3 - anyone who is using his firmware and has the means should seriously consider a small show of gratitude; he saved me oodles of cash by improving the galaxy to the point that when i was about to give up on it and buy a new phone i didnt have to as he make it usable. So without further ado, here is my overclocked Galaxo 1.6.3.1 Samsung i7500; any q's at all, feel free to shoot Btw, one last thing - i just thought it would be interesting to note that uploading these screenshots has mate me realise how truly awesome the Galaxy OLED screen is. My PC has an excellent high resolution LED backlit screen, but has no where near the contrast or vibrancy of my galaxy screen. On my PC the background and general theme does not look anywhere near as good as it does on my phone.

I think she might be the last person on Earth with a Sidekick. But this will be our first Android phones and I am sure there will be a learning curve but I am a pretty big computer geek so it should be fun. I am sure I will be asking plenty of questions as well.

Anyways, what I would like to know is what are the "Must have" apps. What should I do with it right out of the box? Anything particular I should know/expect?
I hope this will be a pleasant experience, it's my first Android phone (first smartphone actually) although I do have an iPod Touch, so I hope that will shorten the learning curve.
I have a stock incredible and I'd like to upgrade to 2.2 (I have the prompt for the OTA update) but I'd also like to root and retain that root on my phone, which I understand I should do before the OTA update.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThere have already been several requests for information on how to downgrade back to the official 2.2. The following process will remove root. Whether you need to return a phone or you just want to clean the slate and go back to stock, here is how to get there:
Note: Your SD card MUST be formatted to FAT32 before proceeding. The file will not be recognized otherwise. If you have yet to format, remember that formatting wipes the card. Be sure to copy/move your SD contents to a safe place (PC desktop) and replace after the formatting process. I will not go into the procedure in this thread as it is easily found with a Google search.
1.) Need to return a phone and currently have S-Off? (aka Unrevoked Forever) If so, please visit public:forever [RootWiki] where you can download the latest S-On tool and the process to load to your phone. If you want to keep S-Off and just return to the official 2.2, skip to step 2.
2.) Download the 2.2 PB31IMG.zip (extracted from the official 2.2 RUU)

Note the file size (172 MB) and the MD5 (31BB1611A0FA8197D447C0438426717E) to ensure a successful download and file integrity. If you have questions about how to verify MD5, please see post #2 of this thread.
3.) Attach phone to PC with USB debugging on and in disk drive mode.
4.) Access the SD storage and drag the PB31IMG.zip from the desktop onto the root of the SD card (any open area, do not place into a folder).
5.) Swipe down notification bar on phone and change to charge only.
6.) Unplug phone from PC and turn off phone.
7.) Hold volume down while pressing power button to enter hboot.
8.) PB31IMG.zip should be automatically recognized in hboot. Press volume up to continue with update. Do NOT interrupt.
9.) When finished, reboot to stock 2.2 and verify the following information at Menu > Settings > About Phone:
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.07.28
Software Number: 3.26.605.1
10.) Remove the PB31IMG.zip from the SD card to avoid an inadvertant reload in the future. You are now unrooted and on stock 2.2

Just as the title says, I guess CM6 is officially out for download, but does not come up in Rom Manager, or searched CM's site, and doesn't have a "stable" build listed for DInc.

Alright I copied the guide that was on Droid-Life and on XDA. I have rooted with unrevoked3 and got s-off with unrevoked forever. I have already removed clockworkmod recovery and now have the stock recovery. All my settings match what the thread said and it keeps on aborting the update. Can anyone help me?

View 1 Replies View RelatedOkay, I'm running the Lite official 2.2 ROM. I'm seeing a lot more BS running in the background than I used to on 2.1 (using System Panel Lite). Another thing I noticed is that no matter how I try to exit an app, none of them go inactive. They are all still listed as active. I'm not hitting "home" to back out, I'm actually hitting the back button.
I didn't used to see this behavior on 2.1-1. If I backed out of an app (gmail, quadrant, youtube, etc) they went to "inactive". Now all are listed as active. I've had a ton of little quirks with this ROM but I've been working through it. It's almost totally up to what I want except the issues of stuff running I don't start ("Mail", BUA, etc) and stuff not going inactive when not in use. I don't use any ATKs or anything, since I know better. But I don't want to have to constantly kill un-needed apps in System Panel because they're not going inactive like they used to.
Or can I just stay rooted and wait for the official OTA? I have the stock kernel.
