HTC Incredible :: Predict When Released In Terms Of "Official" Thread Post Count
Mar 5, 2010
The monster Official HTC Incredible Thread is already over 3,000 posts. Predict when you think the HTC Incredible will be released in terms of post count of the Official thread. The group that is closest in predicting the post count of the Official thread when the phone is released will get something special, like the praise of thousands and I don't know... be the first ones to have Nash make them a custom background imageTo make things more fun, the time and date of release of the HTC Incredible will be determined by when the first customer posts his or her pictures of the phone after getting it from the store.

Can we start an official Rom thread that has the links to the Roms so we don't have to look through a bunch of crap to find them?

Its been released. Its free and you can get it on the the market. Its decent. But I would much rather prefer a port of the iphone version. The biggest letdown was no implementation of chat.

With that said, i would like to compare with other people. Here's mine as much as i love the phone, the battery on the inc. Is pretty pathetic imo. Code...

For the people who don't know, it takes 2 seconds (approximately) to help out thousands of people and become an AndroidForums celebrity! There are thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of people waiting for the Update.zip so they can manually update and finally end their longtime wait for Froyo.But the problem is everyone is seeing the notification and going "Oh hey, wow...yeah! Froyo!" and proceeds to install! And by you doing this, you get Froyo and everyone else is still stuck in a giant circle jerk, waiting for some generous person to share the update. So here's what you do. When the update pops up on your phone. Go into Astro File Manager (if you don't have it, download it from the Market) and go into the SDcard file system. You will see a file called "Update.zip" long press on it, select edit, copy, and then paste a copy of it in a folder of your choice on your SDcard. Later, hook your phone up to your computer and go into the file system, and get that Update.zip file out of that file that you chose and upload it to any file hosting site. Megauploads, rapidshare, even Google Docs would suffice. But a lot of people are waiting for this update! If you don't want to go through the steps to upload it to a file share website, private message me, I will give u my e-mail, u can e-mail it to me, and I will upload it to a file sharing site.

Even a "beta" SDK would be helpful. There are lots of app developers who don't necessarily know how to build cupcake from the GIT. Given that HTC Magic (based on cupcake, I heard) is rolling out real soon now, wouldn't it be nice to give the app developers a chance to test if their app is compatible with cupcake?Sure, Android API is supposed to be backwards compatible. However, there are quite a few bugs in the G1 that I had to work around with ugly hacks. Now I start to worry if those hacks would break on cupcake.

So I remember reading somewhere that in froyo, when you search in the market app, it will predict apps as you type like in itunes, but mine doesn't do this. Is there a setting for this?

Are we guaranteed that Application.onCreate() runs in the UI/main thread? I want to assume so but I can't find any information to make me 100 % sure. When I receive a broadcast I want to post a message onto the UI/main thread. Currently I've added a function in my Application class to return a handler (created in it's onCreate), is this a good solution? If not, what would be a better solution?

So I thought to help the madness on the others threads that we could make one with all of the pros and cons we have seen in the new official update to help people see what they should do as far as force it or root and etc.Flash is not included so you have to find it in dumb ways and it is not in the market.No more vibrate and silent modes being separate.

I figured that since most of us will be getting the Droid X next week, Ill start up a thread for then, where we can post our pics thoughts and all that, I am not getting mine yet, I am taking summer classes so the X is an incentive, if I get excellent grades So feel free to post pics, for those that already have them, just make sure it is appropriately sized Enjoy your Droid X!Please post pictures and give a little opinion on what you felt, so others, like me, can benefit, and for those who have not quite made up thier minds, this might be all they need

I am using a DefaultHttpClient and a ThreadSafeClientConnManager to share the httpClient across threads. That part is working well. However, when I execute an HttpPost in one thread, and call httpPost.abort() from another. It does not return immediately and continues blocking until the socket timeout is reached in most cases. Am I missing something else? I've tried using: connectionManager.closeIdleConnections(30, TimeUnit.SECONDS); connectionManager.closeExpiredConnections();

I have been trawling around these forums for a long time, and firstly wanted to say thanks to all of those veterans around here passing on their knowledge - its guys like you that make this place work.I wanted to start an official screenshot thread - in part to compare, show off, and get ideas, but also in order to allow newer members to ask questions about certain home screen widgets, what does what, and how things can be made so pretty! It took me a long time and lots of research to get mine how it is, and it would be great if we can help others achieve this a little more easily. In particular, i want to thank Drakaz for his amazing work on Galaxo 1.6.3 - anyone who is using his firmware and has the means should seriously consider a small show of gratitude; he saved me oodles of cash by improving the galaxy to the point that when i was about to give up on it and buy a new phone i didnt have to as he make it usable. So without further ado, here is my overclocked Galaxo 1.6.3.1 Samsung i7500; any q's at all, feel free to shoot Btw, one last thing - i just thought it would be interesting to note that uploading these screenshots has mate me realise how truly awesome the Galaxy OLED screen is. My PC has an excellent high resolution LED backlit screen, but has no where near the contrast or vibrancy of my galaxy screen. On my PC the background and general theme does not look anywhere near as good as it does on my phone.

I'm new to this place, but how many 2.1 threads do we need here?Starting 'anticipation' threads today is pointless! Helpful people on forums naturally give out all the news as and when it comes, so.If you think, "Sod it... I'll get it when they're ready to give me it", then join me here! Pour a drink, roll a number.... and chill... maybe even talk about something else in the meantime?(Haha - sorry guys... I'm having a bit of a giggle at your expense, but it's getting a bit 2.1 crazy in here!)

I've been hearing a lot of complaints about the EVO battery. I've played around a lot with a friends Incredible, and while it's doesn't have what I'd call "excellent battery life," it's "decent" in my opinion. With the tweaks one can do on an EVO, will the EVO last as long as an Incredible? Or does the Incredible just blow it out of the water in terms of battery life?

I successfully rooted the phone. My main reason (initially) is so I can delete some of the bloatware that came with it. I've looked through some of the threads that talk about how to uninstall some of this stuff, and I'm at a loss. Is there any way someone can explain how to uninstall bloatware applications in noobtard terms? I'm at a loss. Thanks in advance from your friendly neighborhood noob. For the record, I'm technically savvy, I've just never done this before and don't really know where to begin.

I placed my order for a Droid X for me and my wife on Friday at 6pm and I got notification that I will receive them both TODAY.I am pretty excited to get rid of my iPhone 3G and her to get rid of the dreaded Sidekick. I think she might be the last person on Earth with a Sidekick. But this will be our first Android phones and I am sure there will be a learning curve but I am a pretty big computer geek so it should be fun. I am sure I will be asking plenty of questions as well.
