I'm writing an Android application that plays back voice mails using Media Player, which are just WAV files that have been sent to the device. When I play the file, it's played on the device's speaker, or else it plays through headphones if they're plugged in. What I want to do is play the file so that it sounds to the user as if it's at the same volume level as a normal phone call. Is there a way to route playback so that the file is played through the phone's ear piece instead of out of the speaker?
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust put the latest ROM on my phone last night and rooted. I was all excited adding my apps back and setting the phone up that I neglected to test the phone.
I received a phone call today and couldn't hear anything. Like the person on the other end muted their phone. Now the kicker, if I put the phone on Speakerphone I can hear the caller just fine (as fine as pre 2.2). I looked around and haven't been able to find any reference to this.
First problem is , Video recording has much noise , I think its due to high microphone sensivity. Is there any way to calibrate o change its level?
Second problem is , Speker volume in Jelly bean is too low and it causes some problem for ringign and allarm. is there any way to change its level?
I read in some threads that there are some CSV files located at /system/etc that we can change microhpone and speaker level. but I cant find in JB.and another configuration file named asound.conf that we can specify sound level in dB , but i'm afraid that it cause high voltage , and high current subsequently and cause speaker be corrupted..
I'm looking for some way in Android to play in-memory audio in a manner analogous to the waveOutOpen family of methods in Windows programming. The waveOut... methods essentially let an application create arrays of sample values (like in-memory WAV files without the headers) and dump them into a queue for sequential playback. Windows transitions seamlessly from one array to the next, so as long as the application keeps dumping arrays into the queue ahead of playback, the program can create and play continuous audio of any arbitrary length. The Windows API also incorporates a callback mechanism that the application can use to indicate progress and load additional buffers.
As far as I can tell, the Android audio API lets an application play a file from local storage or a URL, or from a memory stream. Is there any way to get Android to "queue up" MediaPlayer.start() calls so that one player transitions (without glitches) into the next upon play completion? It appears that Jet does something like this, but only with its own internal synthesis engine. Is there any other way of accessing Android audio in a waveOutOpen way?
Is there anyway to adjust the audio level out of the Captivate? When I hooked it up to my car stereo to play Pandora, I had to max out the volume on the car stereo just to be able to hear it. I don't listen to music at outrageous levels. If I listen to a CD or the radio, the volume level is between 10 and 25. With the Captivate it is 40 and still not as loud as the radio.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI really struggle when using my phone with my bluetooth headset as the audio level is so much lower than all my previous Sony Ericsson phones. I have made sure all the volume levels are at max on the X10 itself, and on the headset itself, but still the audio level is very low. The transmitted audio is fine, and the person I am speaking to never has a problem hearing me, but I really struggle to hear them. Is this a known problem that Sony Ericsson are aware of? Are there any fixes I can apply? I have downloaded a number of different volume apps from the market place, but not found any that seem to be able to increase the volume.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to capture audio and along with the audio I also want to show the live signal strength of the audio on the screen.
Is there ant api that give me information regarding the the loudness level (or at least some information indicating whether the user is silent or speaking something) of the audio or should I implement my own signal processing using the captured buffers and determine the level.
if it was possible to route audio files from the phone to a bluetooth headset on versions of Android API Level 7 and under (so versions older than the new Froyo) If so, do you know of any sample code I could look at to figure out how to do this? Or perhaps just point me in the right direction?
View 2 Replies View Relatedthe speaker volume level for my vibrant decreased considerably even though the various volume levels in my settings haven't changed. Music and GPS instructions are barely audible. I am new to Android and hope I may be overlooking something.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to manage the audio levels through an app? Or is it more dependent on the phone's built in capabilities? Right now at work I listen to a skype audio call from my house (for security) at a very low volume and then at a higher level I listen to music or podcasts, both sources going at the same time. When my dog goes nuts, the door is knocked on, or (in theory) if someone busted down my door, I notice the change in volume and sound, turn off my local media, and focus on what I'm hearing until the drama passes.
I ask because I would like to continue this setup when not at work, like say while running, where I again have earphones in and am normally listening to audio content. I would like to be able to have two pieces of audio: music combined with a skype stream or normal phone call, going at the same time like at work. So is there a way to have two sources going at the same time, with the volume of each independently adjustable? Is this an app thing or a phone thing? Phone will be Sprint Hero.
I have a friend at work who has a cheapie smartphone running vanilla Android and whenever he has his phone playing on the dock his lockscreen displays the audio levels behind the password prompt.
Audiophiles, I don't know the correct term for it, but it's all those little lines that go up for each frequency range. The treble side is on the left, bass is on the right. The background is black, the levels thing is a light blue-ish color.
I know he uses Play Music and he has a Pattern Lock, but so far I haven't been able to replicate it on my phone. My phone is a Galaxy S4 with 4.4.2 and the latest Play Music, swipe unlock, and a static picture as the background.I see no options for the levels thing in Play Music nor in my lockscreen settings. Is this something only in vanilla Android that Samsung tossed out?I think it looks really cool; better than the square album artwork awkwardly cropped to fit a rectangular screen.
If this is something vanilla only, are there any good free equivalents in the Play Store you'd recommend? How about compatibility with Rocket Player?
I first have to say that I'm biased, 'cus I like to write music apps (like music generation apps). However, this affects games as well. It's somewhat disappointing how OpenGL has made it into the NDK now but there isn't any NDK methods to get to sound to have faster access. Over the weekend I did some more testing and if you make a "drum" app, for example, and play the sound using either SoundPool or AudioTrack, you will get about a 100ms delay buffer, which is clearly audible (gap).
I made a test app where when you touch the screen, upon the DOWN event, it would play a short sound (like a drum sound). It clearly was not real time responsive or even close - you could hear the delay. I'd be interested to know if anyone who has made a game has any trouble with sounds? It seems like they aren't going to really trigger real time enough if you use SoundPool, for example. Am I completely wrong? Seems like your game is going to perform an action, play a sound, but the sound will have latency which I would think would throw off the game a bit..................
Just purchased the Legend and there appears to be an issue with the speaker. I want to identify if it is just my phone or if other users are experiencing this problem. The speaker on the phone is producing static whenever audio is being played. It can be heard clearly when doing the following: Click on the volume button on the side (either up or down) and place the phone to your ear. Open the phone application, click on a number and place the phone to your ear. The static lasts for 5 or 6 seconds and then dies off. Would appreciate if anybody with the phone coud check this out as I'm unsure if a return is required.
View 5 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this is a GS issue or a Navigon issue...I am trying to use Navigon with a headset. But when there is audio guidance, the audio comes on both the speaker and the headset. I would expect the audio to be heard only from the headset.

I have a samsung galaxy s2 on AT&T running android 4.0.4. I have the bluetooth set up to play audio through my car stereo.
Everything was working fine until a couple of days ago when I accidentally booted my phone into safe mode. I re-booted it back into normal mode, but a lot of my settings got messed up after that happened.
The odd thing is that now, when I am in my car, the phone connects to the stereo over bluetooth - I see the name of the song, artist, etc information on the car stereo, and can do things like skip to the next song using the controls in the car. However, the sound actually plays through the phone speaker instead of the car speakers!
speaker works as it supposed to work in stock rom but in ported it doesnt.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having trouble developing an app, while it works in API level 10, it does not in API level 7. I wondery why and I've been looking for a site that summarizes the differences, or the new features from one API level to another and cannot find it.

There seems to be a problem with an uncaught exception and reflection, although....why does it work on API level 10?
I was complaining that the only way to listen to a message no matter how you set it was via the speakerphone speaker. Well looky here... Guess google isn't as open as we'd thought.
View 9 Replies View RelatedDuring a video hangout, the audio randomly switches from "speakerphone" mode to handset mode. The video itself is fine. The other person's audio will get really quiet because it's coming from the handset speaker, and they will complain that they can't hear me anymore.
After this happens, I can manually hit the speaker button and choose the option to use the Speaker rather than Handset mode, and the problem fixes itself. However, the fix usually lasts less than a couple minutes. Within 1-3 minutes it will change back to handset mode. This happens even if the phone is sitting down on the table during the hangout and I'm not interacting with it and there's no chance for me to inadvertently press a button or cover up the proximity sensor.
I'm using an EVO LTE with a stock ROM w/ root if matters.
I was just wondering what eveyone sets they're brightness level's too. Thought I'd start a poll!

Strange..My phone had 15% battery. I went into adb and started deleting apps for about 20 minutes. I turn the phone back on and it says it is fully charged.

View 12 Replies View RelatedThis is me writing what will amount to about 10 pages (at least that is what I plan) on how batteries work at the basic quantum and chemical level. I have been promising it for some time, and with everything coming to a close for the summer, I have time. So within the next could of weeks (2 or so), I will be filling in posts.
EDIT: I will be adding about 15 or so posts to expand into. I apologize for the over inflation of my post count, but there is no way I am editing 4 or so huge posts. Each section will have its own post or two. If the mods have any problem with it, please take it down and tell me how to do it to your liking, as many people have asked about this thorough walk through and explanation and thus I would like to do it. I honestly have no idea how long this will be as I have no idea the maximum post size. So I am going over and will ask mods to delete unused posts.
Please use the comments to make specific requests for info, and I will be happy to add it.
EDIT 2: Darn...I seem to have done all of this in the wrong section. Mod, would you please oblige? Tips and tricks, please? Or the regular forum, if that is where you think it fits best. Table of contents
I'm sure the engineers who build these phones are quite brilliant individuals, and certainly, at least one of them has figured out by now that, "Hey, if we put the speaker on the back of the phone, the sound is going to be muffled when the phone rings!"So I'm just curious if there is some logistical/technical reason why this is done? I figure it would be much better design-wise to put the speaker on the front, or maybe even on the bottom. Other than not being able to see the screen in direct sunlight, this is the only real gripe I have about the phone thus far. Also, do you guys lay the phone face down when not using it, assuming you'd otherwise sleep right through the phone ringing when sitting on its back?
