HTC Incredible :: Official Diddnt Get Update Thread
May 6, 2010Got the ota at about 5 am this morning, but it froze and didn't work. So when I restarted it said no update available. Wonder if there's something wrong with me phone.

This thread is not so much a "How to" but a "What works"
For those just getting started and need to learn how to set up PSX4Droid take a look at a few of the videos on YouTube to help get going.
Now for anyone who has PSX4Droid on the Incredible could you please post what roms/games you have tried and how well they work on the system.
This will help people from putting a certain amount of hours of playtime into a title only to find there is a section they won't be able to advance from.
Games I have tried so far:
Dino Crisis: This one starts off fine but about 30 minutes into playing there is a door you have to go through and the new section won't load basically ending the game.
Dino Crisis 2: Runs fine for the first 5-10 minutes but afraid of the same problems coming up from Dino Crysis 1.
Resident Evil: Only played for 30 minutes but runs fins, also has sound issues.
Resident Evil 2: Played for 1 hour and runs GREAT, has some sound problems.
Resident Evil 3: Same as RE2, played for 1 hour game runs great but has some sound issues.
Diablo: This is a tricky one. Game starts and plays fine in the first town but after talking to everyone there is and entering the church the performance drops off. Now I have restarted this one and took my character directly into the church bypassing talking or doing anything in town and didn't have a problem so this might have a memory issue.
So far from the limited titles I played the RE series works out the best. It should be noted that every game I tried out has some sound issues you just have to live with for now.

The group that is closest in predicting the post count of the Official thread when the phone is released will get something special, like the praise of thousands and I don't know... be the first ones to have Nash make them a custom background imageTo make things more fun, the time and date of release of the HTC Incredible will be determined by when the first customer posts his or her pictures of the phone after getting it from the store.

Aug 28, 2010For the people who don't know, it takes 2 seconds (approximately) to help out thousands of people and become an AndroidForums celebrity! There are thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of people waiting for the Update.zip so they can manually update and finally end their longtime wait for Froyo.But the problem is everyone is seeing the notification and going "Oh hey, wow...yeah! Froyo!" and proceeds to install! And by you doing this, you get Froyo and everyone else is still stuck in a giant circle jerk, waiting for some generous person to share the update. So here's what you do. When the update pops up on your phone. Go into Astro File Manager (if you don't have it, download it from the Market) and go into the SDcard file system. You will see a file called "Update.zip" long press on it, select edit, copy, and then paste a copy of it in a folder of your choice on your SDcard. Later, hook your phone up to your computer and go into the file system, and get that Update.zip file out of that file that you chose and upload it to any file hosting site. Megauploads, rapidshare, even Google Docs would suffice. But a lot of people are waiting for this update! If you don't want to go through the steps to upload it to a file share website, private message me, I will give u my e-mail, u can e-mail it to me, and I will upload it to a file sharing site.

May 11, 2010I have been trawling around these forums for a long time, and firstly wanted to say thanks to all of those veterans around here passing on their knowledge - its guys like you that make this place work.I wanted to start an official screenshot thread - in part to compare, show off, and get ideas, but also in order to allow newer members to ask questions about certain home screen widgets, what does what, and how things can be made so pretty! It took me a long time and lots of research to get mine how it is, and it would be great if we can help others achieve this a little more easily. In particular, i want to thank Drakaz for his amazing work on Galaxo 1.6.3 - anyone who is using his firmware and has the means should seriously consider a small show of gratitude; he saved me oodles of cash by improving the galaxy to the point that when i was about to give up on it and buy a new phone i didnt have to as he make it usable. So without further ado, here is my overclocked Galaxo 1.6.3.1 Samsung i7500; any q's at all, feel free to shoot Btw, one last thing - i just thought it would be interesting to note that uploading these screenshots has mate me realise how truly awesome the Galaxy OLED screen is. My PC has an excellent high resolution LED backlit screen, but has no where near the contrast or vibrancy of my galaxy screen. On my PC the background and general theme does not look anywhere near as good as it does on my phone.

I think it's getting confusing w/ all these releases. Let's summarize:Original root: Filename PB00IMG.zip. An "unofficial official" ROM that provides you with initial root. Can only be flashed from a phone running 1.5. Not to be confused with any of the "unofficial official" 2.1 leaks that don't have root.
2.1 leak: Filename PB00IMG.zip. Also an "unofficial official" ROM that upgrades your 1.5 phone to a 2.1 un-rooted OS. New 2.1 leak: Filename PB00IMG.zip. Another "unofficial official" ROM that upgrades your 1.2 or "2.1 leak" phone to the most recently available un-rooted version of Android 2.1.
** By "unofficial official" I mean that the ROM's are signed by HTC and must be installed from the phone's bootloader. We cannot edit and repack files to be loaded using the phone's stock bootloader, as we cannot sign these ROM's ourselves...........
Android :: Possible To Start Surface View With Game Thread
Aug 7, 2010I've read several example programs and tutorials to try and solve my problem but they all seem to go the same way. I've used a couple Activities and xml documents to create a menu that loads when my game starts.When the user clicks the "Start The Game" button, it loads a new Activity that sets the view with my game thread and all of the game properties.I know this activity works because I've run it alone as its own project, but every way I've tried to start it after the Menu,I get a nullPointerException and it force closes.I read the SurfaceViewOverlay tutorial and attempted to use that implementation, but I'm using a SurfaceView, not a GLSurfaceView.I'm debating rewriting my entire program to use OpenGL but I figured I would see if anyone else knows what I'm doing wrong here.If you need the code snippets I can paste some here, but it's not really the specific code that's wrong.

Aug 1, 2009The following code leads to "java.lang.IllegalThreadStateException: Thread already started." the second time it is run through on the program This happens the second time updateUI.start() is called. I've stepped through it multiple times and the thread is called and completely runs to completion before hitting updateUI.start(). Calling updateUI.run() avoids the error but causes the thread to run in the UI thread (the calling thread, as mentioned in other posts on SO), which is not what I want. Can a Thread be started only once? If so than what do I do if I want to run the thread again? This particular thread is doing some calculation in the background, if I don't do it in the thread than it's done in the UI thread and the user has an unreasonably long wait.

Apr 8, 2010I have a main class activity that does the task of sending control to other activities on click of a button. I am also starting a thread in the main class. This thread basically sets up a connection with the server and is active throughout the lifetime of the application.I have two functions in the thread class, send and receive data from server.Therefore, when the other activities need to send/receive data from server, they use those particular functions.First of all please let me know if what I am trying to do is fine as per the architecture of the operating system. If its fine, when I try to run the code, the app crashes and i see a NullPointerException and a RuntimeException in the DDMS log.Could some one please help me out in this or suggest a better way to implement the concept.Also, please be assured that, the other functionality of the code works perfectly fine.

Dec 9, 2009I have little doubt that the battery problems would be solved by bumping out of cupcake. I actually like Touchwiz, but it seems to be causing a ton of problems. Once we get 2.0 from Samsung, I don't think we can rely on it to fix the little things. It's time to bump it up to stock ourselves. I'm no ROM cooker, but I'm willing to try. Now that we have persistent root, what next? How do we start making ROMs for this thing?

Jul 27, 2010So PSX4Droid finally got released from the clutches of Google Market about an hour ago. Only problem now is I can't seem to get any roms to work. I set up a PSXROMS folder on my SD card, and my first d/l was Metal Gear Solid disc 1 and 2. I got them from here PSX ISO Download Section. So I downloaded the .rar, unzipped to get the .bin (says it's compatible), open the emulator, the emulator sees the files in the folder, I click it, it refreshes the rom screen. The emulator doesn't start. Am I doing something wrong? Wrong file type?
