I'm having problems receiving my email especially my gmail unless I use the refresh button. Also I have weatherbug and it doesn't refresh by itsself either.

im not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.
considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?
I'm having some trouble with my gmail app. Sometimes it just does not receive email. I tell it to manually refresh but still non of my new emails appear. When this problem occurs however, the app does still display the number of new emails in brackets at the top next to 'inbox'. Strange. Even stranger is the fact that sometimes this app works fine. I have done all the obvious things (restart, task killers, wi-fi check) but I am yet to find a solution. I know I could just use the HTC mail app, but I don't like it as much.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I first setup my Incredible, I signed on to Gmail. Whenever I receive an e-mail, I get two, one Gmail and one HTC. I dragged the HTC mail widget to the recycle bin. Than I went to manage applications and forced stop the HTC mail. This works until I power off the phone. Each time I boot it back up, I need to go to applications and choose forced stop. It is a small pain but still a pain. One is this happening to anyone else and second does anyone have a solution?

Here's another - When my phone is asleep (at least I THINK that's what it is), I don't appear to get the notification for an email or a text message. For example, I pressed the button to wake up the phone and all of a sudden I received a text message. The message was time stamped 4:45 but the actual time that I received it was after 5pm.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI wanted to see if anyone else was having this problem. I have my work e-mail setup to work as an exchange activesync. Everything was great up until about 3 days ago. I noticed that i was not receiving emails unless i manually updated the email. So i looked in settings/Send & Receive and under the Set download frequency it was set to "manual". I think to myself that weird since it was set up to "as items arrive" before. I then switch it back and after an hour still no emails but i am getting them on my computer. They use to actually get to my phone before my computer. Anyways i go back and try again but it seems it keeps defaulting back to "manual". I really want to avoid calling verizon since the last tech support called i made took 45mins to resolve the problem.

All of a sudden, when I do the same thing, it opens up the G mail In box and I have to click the email itself to open it. Am I delusional and this is how it's always been?

Is this normal or is there automatic feature that i must enable to have it alert me once an email is received?
Secondly, is it possible to set-up a third party email account, ex: Yahoo? I went through the notion of manually enter email account, but was unsucessful. It give me a msg that mailbox access is not supported for some tpes of yahoo mail accounts. Could this be an interference with gmail email, thus causing the problem? Even, using the manually setup option, it still fails to connect to my yahoo account.
the email app being the the white envelope, yellow insert icon app. so for example, when i hit one specific inbox, i can either hit "refresh", or pull down for it to retrieve emails. But when i go into "all accounts" I don't see an option.

In Gmail online, I can send all messages as being sent from the Pop3 account. I cannot figure out how to do this with the HTC mail account, which makes it pretty useless. View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got the weirdest problem ever with my HTC Hero.The gmail application does not refresh automatically so as to fetch incoming e-mail. Even worse, it doesn't even do that when I manually do that (menu --> refresh)There is one situation: If I change one of the settings for Labels ("description = select which labels are syncronised") it does fetch e-mail from my inbox, but only if I manually refresh. It doesn't make any sense that my gmail application can only fetch new mails after a (random) modifcation in my settings. I would like my gmail to refresh .... well.. as often as possible and automatically, since I will not know beforehand when someone has sent me a mail.
For the moment my label settings are as follows:days for syncronisation: 1 day
labels
inbox: syncronise for all items
with star: syncronise for all items
eehh. well actually all my folders are "syncronise for all items"
The droid as two email apps built in that I see. One is for gmail only and the other for any other email out there (excluding yahoo). The other one also one can be setup to use as a gmail account. What is the benefit to setting up the gmail app to only gmail and not just putting gmail on the other one so all you email accounts are displayed in one location? Do both of the settings push the gmail to your phone or does your phone have to fetch on one of the settings? Also, is there a way to set up your email to only fetch once every 12 or 24 hours? I think the only options I see is up to 1 hr or manually.

I have downloaded 17 apps (or widgets, whichever you prefer). Now I don't get any email at all unless I refresh my inbox on my Eris. They have been up to a day old when I decide to try refreshing my inbox and, what do you know, they all pop up! My oh-so-famous "enable always-on mobile data" box is checked.
Is there any way to search for a program by typing in its name?
What is the icon in the Android Power Control that looks like a refresh button? I can toggle on/off, but not sure what it does.
