there was any way to get the LED to flash longer after receiving a text/email/etc. It seems to only go for maybe 10 minutes after the notification is received. Also, did anyone else have any trouble setting up the email on the phone? I have tried to set it and it won't recognize my account.

This is my 3rd post today of trying to understand the ins and outs of the DINC. Here's another - When my phone is asleep (at least I THINK that's what it is), I don't appear to get the notification for an email or a text message. For example, I pressed the button to wake up the phone and all of a sudden I received a text message. The message was time stamped 4:45 but the actual time that I received it was after 5pm.

Getting an alert "The email is no longer available on the server." On personal POP account. Has been working fine but the last day or so this has been happening and I'm not receiving emails. I can send from it though. All settings are the same, no changes. Gmail is working fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI seem to in almost all instances not be receiving text messages. This is definitely hit or miss. I've determined it's not service related as it's only happening to me, and it's not location related. It's not related to the services of the people texting me. It's definitely not every single time, but it's a lot. My messages seem to be going out without a problem. After extensive testing I seem to have narrowed down this problem somewhat. There seems to be a problem with the messaging app on my phone. I determined this by downloading Handcent SMS. The moment I did this, I started receiving text messages again consistently and without problem. Uninstalling the program put me int he same place I was before. Can anyone determine what the problem may be with this additional information. Perhaps I have done something ill-advised to my phone so here is as much information about it that I can think of:

I am running a 2.1 rooted phone with (as far as I know) the stock ROM that came with the Incredible (prior to 2.2). I purchased the phone with 2.1 and it did an OTA update to 2.2. However there were so many problems with the update that I decided to go back to 2.1. I did this and rooted which seems to prevent the OTA update even though I don't have a custom ROM. In addition to Rooting, I disabled (using the method of moving the files to a disabled folder)

Aside from this and installing some apps, I haven't done anything that I can think of to the phone that may have caused this problem. There are only a few apps that I've installed that I didn't have before downgrading and rooting my phone.

I do occasionally receive a text message but it seems more "miss" than hit. As far as I know, I was not having this problem before I went to 2.2 (and then downgraded back to 2.1). Since I'm back at 2.1, I don't see how it should be any different from before unless I did something. Seeing as how it doesn't look like anyone else has had this problem after rooting (as far as I've been able to see in the forum). I'm hoping I've missed something. I've tried *228 option 2 (and option 1). Nothing else seems affected, not call quality or email or any data services that I can tell. I'm of course perfectly willing to completely reset my phone but only want to do that if it will actually do some good.
My phone will not vibrate when I receive and SMS text message. I have checked and unchecked the vibrate box multiple times and nothing changes. It is not a big deal unless I have my phone on vibrate mode because I am in a meeting or something. During those times, I have no way of knowing if I received a message outside of pulling out my phone and checking it every few minutes. Anyone else having this problem or have any suggestions?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI wanted to see if anyone else was having this problem. I have my work e-mail setup to work as an exchange activesync. Everything was great up until about 3 days ago. I noticed that i was not receiving emails unless i manually updated the email. So i looked in settings/Send & Receive and under the Set download frequency it was set to "manual". I think to myself that weird since it was set up to "as items arrive" before. I then switch it back and after an hour still no emails but i am getting them on my computer. They use to actually get to my phone before my computer. Anyways i go back and try again but it seems it keeps defaulting back to "manual". I really want to avoid calling verizon since the last tech support called i made took 45mins to resolve the problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have uninstalled all my sms messaging apps except for the default HTC messaging app. Every time I receive a text message, I get 2 audio notifications, and there are two icons on the notification bar. When I pull it down, one of the notifications sends me directly to the message, and extinguishes one of the icons. The other icon simply says "you have an unread message", and when I click on it nothing happens, and the icon never goes away (unless you hit clear) on the notification pull down menu.It seems to me like I have two messaging programs installed, but I have gone over the list of apps for an hour and can't seem to find it.If it helps, the icon looks like a postcard, with a vertical line down the middle., black and white.

The messages looked like this: 4756://BREW:0108f3d4:GCD. After a while I stopped receiving them. Now tonight I received another one. I used android market to get the Gmail widget (the one where the icon has the message coming out of the envelope and it looks like a red 'M'). That was working fine and I was getting my e-mails without any problems.The other day, I was tinkering with settings and I set up the HTC Mail widget, which I (stupidly) linked to the same Gmail account. I started to receive double notifications for my e-mails. I quickly realized I preferred the Gmail widget I was using previously, so I removed my account from the HTC Mail widget.So, my problem is that I no longer receive any notifications from the original Gmail widget when I get new e-mails. In fact, I no longer receive any notifications when I get e-mails. I have gone through all the settings I could find and all notifications are set to update automatically and alert me. The only thing I have not yet done is the account reset because this says I will have to reset my phone to factory settings and I don't want to lose everything I have on it at this point.

FF tell me there is no longer support and don't explain if that means for now or ever. Chrome has the usual flash not compatible bs they always come out with. Dolphin now seems to have joined Chrome. Puffin just shows blank screens. If this isn't temporary then android tablets are merely web browsers.

Also, is there a spell check on this thing? I saw a setting under 'qwerty' but it requires predictive text to be on, which is a no go for me.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen the INC is sleeping I can feel the vibrate or hear the notification sound, however, it won't wake up or let me know that I have something waiting for me just by glancing at it from a distance if it's sleeping. This isn't an issue if I am in a quiet environment, but otherwise it is. I have checked all the settings and there doesn't seem to be a way to make this happen.

I was taking pictures last night with my flash, and I noticed that even though the LED comes on, it turns off again the instant before the shutter closes. This problem is reproducible 100% of the time, and happens whether the picture is taken with the shutter button or the new touch button. This has basically rendered the flash useless.

This has been working for me for weeks now but suddenly it is giving me "incorrect username or password" error.
How do I make the "new email" flashing green LED continue to flash forever or until I mess with the phone? It works fine, but stops flashing after a while so if I'm not staring at my phone, I could miss the LED indicator and not realize I got a new email. Using the Gmail application (not the HTC email program).
What causes the LED to stop flashing after a while? Is it because the phone is going into a deeper sleep mode that I could configure, or is it because the flashing LED indications stop and there is nothing you can do about it? I checked under notifications and didn't see any setting for "duration" of the flashing LED indicator for emails.
I'm having some trouble with my gmail app. Sometimes it just does not receive email. I tell it to manually refresh but still non of my new emails appear. When this problem occurs however, the app does still display the number of new emails in brackets at the top next to 'inbox'. Strange. Even stranger is the fact that sometimes this app works fine. I have done all the obvious things (restart, task killers, wi-fi check) but I am yet to find a solution. I know I could just use the HTC mail app, but I don't like it as much.
