Is anyone noticing no rhyme or reason as to when Gmail syncs? I'm getting a long delay sometimes. I am hooked up to WiFi at work, but have low cell signal in this area. I looked for a setting to change sync time but didn't find one.

I seem to remember changing the refresh rate for gmail, and now I'd like to change it back, but I can't figure out how to get to the screen that lets me select the refresh rate (5 min, 30 min, 1 hr, 2 hr, 4 hours or something like that).

View 11 Replies View Relatedim not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.
considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?
I have been using admob for three months now..i have 12 android apps requesting ads from admob...2 of them from amazon app store (added last week)..others from google play.The problem is that since about 4 or 5 days i can't make any write changes to my account...this includes
1.cant change refresh rate..
2.cant add new apps..
3.cant modify the market url for existing app(for my new apps from amazon store,which has the same package as another app from google play.For admob it should be like same app requesting 2 ads..is that a problem?)
4.cant change colour of ads.that's all I have checked until now..When I try any of these,i simply gets logged out from admob..then i will have to login once again..
There is no problem with reporting and revenue updates.I have tried from Chrome and IE.
Also,i would like to point out a change in admob login..Earlier I could login to Google with another 'Google id' while logged in to admob..But now it seems they are connected. Logging out of Google logs me out off admob too..
I know that the default is 30 minutes, however I am looking at making a game in a widget.This would require millisecond responses.... has anyone messed with the AlarmClock Timing that is described to use instead to achieve this? does it work well?I haven't finished the Software Arc for the project yet because I see a lot of complaints about this on the net, so need to know if this is feasable before I go for the adventure... but the game would consist of a large widget size of one screen... many areas to click on and interact with and multiple textured animations
Looks like I can draw to a canvas and then pop it up to the bitmap to do this... but that still confuses me a bit.but I am struggling with the concepts of this code having an ID for the canvas and how to use that so I have not been able to test this code(I am a experienced c/c++/c#/dx/opengl coder first time with android and java)
Why is it that with "Sync of WiFi" and refresh interval at never, does my Facebook app STILL update and refresh on it's own?
Anyone else notice this? I am only on WiFi at home, but this thing syncs while at work for 9 hours and not connected to WiFi.
I'm on lunch and don't have time to seach. DOes anyone else have a problem with gmail not pushing now? I have to manually refresh. I checked sync settings and google Is checked. How do I remedy this?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI can't take this stupid gmail sync issue anymore. I have been browsing web for the last 2 days and have tried everything short of throwing my phone against the wall. My MacbookPro will get the gmail and it will literally take an hour or so to get the mail on Droid (unless i refresh it myself). Isn't this a GOOGLE phone??? Of all the things gmail should be a breeze on this phone. I had a blackberry prior to Droid and email on Blackberry was never a problem. Infact I used to brag about how quick it was. Anyways I have been going through different forums and lots of people are having this similar problem. I hope we get a fix soon as this seems to be a software problem.
View 42 Replies View RelatedI've started using 2.2, and it's going great, but I've noticed that when I read and archive an email on my phone, it's not reflecting it on the computer.Previously whenever I'd run into issues like this I'd clear the cache on the Gmail Storage in the Manage Applications menu, and it'd resync, but in 2.2 there's only the Gmail app, and the Clear Cache button is grayed out.

Can droid do the same thing? Also it let her sync her contacts with facebook profile. This put the facebook picture next to the contact, and found birtday for the calander. As long as the contacts are in my contacts everything syncs fine. when I put contacts in those groups that I created they never show up on my phone. Is there a setting I am missing? View 3 Replies View RelatedI have being trying to find an app the syncs Memos on my Droid X with either my computer or with Gmail. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find the right app. So my approach is to set up a contact in Gmail and populate the "Note" field only with my Memo information. Then on my Droid X & in Gmail, I set up a contact group titled "Memos" and added these contacts to that group. This way, the "Memos" are on my handheld and sync'd with Gmail and can be viewed separately from my other contacts when I look at the "Memos" contact group.
It would be nice if we were able to automatically sync our "groups" in Gmail with the "groups" on Droid X instead of setting up the groups manually, but this is another one of the stupid deficiencies in the Droid X software.
Ideally I would lie my work meetings to pop-up in the calendar on my droid.I cannot install google calendar at work thanks to a picky IT department.So, what I have done, is forward my emails/appointments to a secondary gmail i created for work use, that i can then sync on my personal laptop.my problem is that, my phone was setup using my primary(personal)gmail and the calendar program will not let you add a different email other than the one they setup for me when i created the phone.how can I change the primary email on my phone to the one i set up for work so I can sync that one with the calendar.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHaving issues with gmail contact sync. I was using the blackberry tour which I synced regularly with outlook. When I switched to the Droid i exported the vcard into gmail and the gmail synced with my droid. The problem is some of my contacts have been merged with other contacts. For example, Nick with no last name was merged with Nick H that does have a last name. They should be two different Nicks and I dont understand why the droid is combining them. I have checked the gmail account and the two Nicks are NOT merged together, but the two Nicks ARE merged on the actual phone. My phone was syncing with facebook and gmail but i disabled the auto sync and just manually synced the gmail on its own but i still have the same problem. I also have another friend with the same problem on her droid.

I say 'deleting' loosely because when I look through my contacts none are there, however if someone sends me a text it has them saved with their number. Is there a way to restore/retrieve my contacts?
View 2 Replies View RelatedCurrently if I add/modify a contact in gmail it will sync without issue to my phone But if I happen to add a contact onto my phone or change something on my phone, that contact is not being synced to my gmail contacts (it stays on the phone, just doesn't go into gmail as well). Thoughts? I currently only sync 'My Contacts' from gmail to my phone not sure if this matters or not. I don't see an option to sync the other way as I did when using Google Sync on my blackberry.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been reading up on the concept of push email, and how it's supposed to be a huge battery saver (since in theory, the phone would only receive a notification of an e-mail, and not the actual e-mail itself). I have also been reading up on how the "Gmail" app's version of Push email is not the same as other Push e-mail software, in that it requires the phone to "Sync" whenever an e-mail hits the Gmail server. As a result, whenever I would try to turn Auto Sync off (supposedly to save battery), I would no longer be able to get my e-mail notifications in real time.
With this in mind, I attempted to find another application that would enable me to use Push email for my Gmail account, without having to "Sync" with Gmail's server. After messing around for a bit, I found that I could manually input my Gmail account info (Incoming Server, Outgoing Server, Username, Pass, Etc.) into the stock "Email" app that comes with the X. Once this was done, I was able to enable "Data Push" in the "Email" app's Settings menu (as well turning off any Polling intervals). By doing this, I was able to receive new Gmail notifications through the "E-mail" app, even when Auto Sync had been turned off. As a bonus, I received them around 15 seconds faster than I did with the "Gmail" app's version of Push.....
