I'm on lunch and don't have time to seach. DOes anyone else have a problem with gmail not pushing now? I have to manually refresh. I checked sync settings and google Is checked. How do I remedy this?

im not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.
considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?
Has anyone else experienced this since MR2? I would receive alerts to new gmails instantly before MR2, and now I'm lucky if I even get them at all without going into the app and hitting refresh. I checked all my settings and it does appear to be set to automatically sync.

I did a reboot just to see and it still didnt fix. is there anyway to fix this?
Not sure why but yesterday, my gmail stopped pushing through. If I hit refresh it will come through. Any ideas as to why this has happened?

So I just figured nobody e-mailed me today, which is weird. So I just went to my gmail account on my laptop and I have 14 unread e-mails that were sent to my gmail account today. So I went to my gmail app on my phone and clicked refresh and the e-mails did not show up on my phone. Its like its not even recognizing my gmail. Any help. I powered down and turned it back up and still nothing. Usually powering down then back up helps little issues like this. what gives.

I never had this problem before with gmail even with "Always On Mobile Data" disabled, but now it seems like the as soon as the 3G radio goes to sleep, I don't get anything until it wakes back up. I am using the Gmail app and whenever I get new mail I have to go into the ALL MAIL label to see it even though the mail has a Inbox tag on it. By doing this I don't get any notifications of new mail and must check it manually. I've tried clearing out Gmail app and Gmail storage but it will only sync once and stop again. I have downloaded 17 apps (or widgets, whichever you prefer). Now I don't get any email at all unless I refresh my inbox on my Eris. They have been up to a day old when I decide to try refreshing my inbox and, what do you know, they all pop up! My oh-so-famous "enable always-on mobile data" box is checked.

So I am a total newbie not only to the boards but also to the Eris. So I would like to thank all of you in advance for not flaming me if this is a super simple fix. I have had my eris for about 3 weeks now. Everything works perfectly but over the last few days I can no longer hit the red end call button in order to manually lock my phone. When I press it, my phone does NOTHING. It will however still lock after it is idle for 1 one and it will also open back up when I hit the red button (so I know its not a problem with the physical button). I have restarted it, removed the battery, and deleted apps that were downloaded around the same time this started. I have also checked every setting I can possible think of but can't figure this out.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got the weirdest problem ever with my HTC Hero.The gmail application does not refresh automatically so as to fetch incoming e-mail. Even worse, it doesn't even do that when I manually do that (menu --> refresh)There is one situation: If I change one of the settings for Labels ("description = select which labels are syncronised") it does fetch e-mail from my inbox, but only if I manually refresh. It doesn't make any sense that my gmail application can only fetch new mails after a (random) modifcation in my settings. I would like my gmail to refresh .... well.. as often as possible and automatically, since I will not know beforehand when someone has sent me a mail.
For the moment my label settings are as follows:days for syncronisation: 1 day

inbox: syncronise for all items
with star: syncronise for all items
eehh. well actually all my folders are "syncronise for all items"
I'm running White Widow 4.6 with Google Apps installed and JIT on. Not all of my FB contacts are syncing with my phone contacts. For example, my sister is not linked to any FB profile when she should be. The names match up. Most of the people are, but some aren't. I can't find a way to link it manually to her FB profile. All of my contacts sync'd fine with the stock OS. Anybody else have this issue? Do you have a solution? I had the same problem in KaosFroyo v23 and never found a solution.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI don't want to beat a dead horse, but I have searched around and i have not found a good explanation as to why those with the 2.1v3 leak cannot manually install the official OTA file that was posted here.
Anyone have an explanation for this? I read that it has something to do with a different HBOOT, but I'm not really understanding it. Do you think we will every be able to get the OTA so that we can go root? I quickly jumped to the 2.1v3 leak without fully understanding the benefits of root and now, after more research, I really want to go root.
Is there a way to download the new OTA update for the Eris and do it manually?
