If I receive an email (use gmail) from someone that's not already in my contacts in people, is there a way to copy and paste or to add the address to my contacts in people without doing it manually?

I am using the HTC mail app, to get emails from a Gmail account, which gets messages from a POP3 account. In Gmail online, I can send all messages as being sent from the Pop3 account. I cannot figure out how to do this with the HTC mail account, which makes it pretty useless. Anyone else using HTC mail and receiving and sending from different accounts? I've tried changing the outgoing server stuff, but I keep getting failed message sent errors.

I have my own @mydomain.com that is a gmail domain so my mail looks and acts just like gmail. My issue is that if I use the other android mail client I loose all of the gmail funtionality. How can I use the gmail app with another email address?

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen viewing an individual contact in People (Contacts, Address Book equiv.) the single address field contains the street, city, state and zip. (The Google Contacts, which is the source for the 'People' is also a single field for street, city ,state, zip.) The latter part of the field (zip, state and sometimes city), does not show up without clicking on the address, loading the map (with GPS running) and then clicking on the address balloon in the map.Is there an easier way that I should be doing this to read the entire address for a contact?

All of a sudden, when I do the same thing, it opens up the G mail In box and I have to click the email itself to open it. Am I delusional and this is how it's always been?

On my old phone, there was an alphabetical slide bar, so that I could jump to any letter in my contacts. Now, when I want to call someone with a name starting with the letter Z, I have to manually scroll through my entire address book to get to that name.

I have set up email accounts connecting to a google-hosted email account via IMAP. I am finding that when replying to a received email, my reply goes out with redundant repetitions of the email address on the "to" line. Example: Email from soandso@gmail.com arrives. I click "reply" on the phone and the reply goes out to soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com; soandso@gmail.com etc etc *10 times*, instead of just once. It also copies me about 10 times! Is anybody else seeing this? I use this for work emails, so it looks very unprofessional like I am trying to spam my clients! I have another couple of days before my 30-day return period is up, so hopefully someone else know how to fix this. Is there some setting I am overlooking?

I have no trouble revieving email through the email setup not Gmail but there is no provision for an address book or contacts list for sending emails. I Googled around and found K-9 Email and went to Google Apps to download it and upon tapping the download button a message came up stating "no devices found". The Nexus7 is running Jellybeen 4.2.1.

I've only been an Android/HTC Hero user for about a week now, and have a weird thing happening with my Hero. I've probably done something to cause this, but, I can't figure it out.
I have several contacts in my People list, and most of them have multiple phone numbers listed with them. When I choose People, and then say my sister, who has two mobile numbers, a work number and a home number, I get a small detailed card that pretty much fills the screen and allows me to choose a number to call mobile, call home, call work, then it says send message to each number, send email.
But, say when I choose my wife, I can only Call Other, Edit Contact, Delete Contact and Send Contact as vCard.
It didn't used to do this. It used to give me these choices for my wife too. My wife has a home number, a cell number, a truck number, I need to be able to text her cell, etc. Basically, I need the same options for her as I have for my sister.
I have the same issue with many of my contacts. I don't know what happened to cause this. Any help fixing this would be much appreciated. Hopefully, I won't have to do a master reset to do so!
My school email address runs through gmail but is not an @gmail.com address.Is there a way to set up this email with the stock gmail app?If not how do I do it with the stock mail app because I couldn't figure that out either.

One of the missing contacts only appeared after selecting 'Show auto gmail contacts' and when I unchecked this option the contact still appears on the phone.This problem also manifests itself when pulling in gmail contacts to Mozilla Thunderbird on the PC so presumably there is gmail setting I have missed - could this be 'display random contacts'

View 4 Replies View RelatedSprint guy told me that when I added a Gmail account, that all my contacts would sync to that, etc. Problem - LOTS (ok - most) of the info I have on my phone for my contacts/People is NOT synced to my GMail contact info. My phone went funky the other day so I went to the laptop to grab a friends phone number and realized it wasn't there - only her email address. I haven noticed this with most everyone else, too.I have read (and was told at Sprint) that at some point I'll likely have to do a master re-set and with the update coming next week, I want to make SURE all my info is stored somewhere.
