I am wondering how I can get my gmail to refresh itself and notify me of emails? I have all of the gmail settings figured out (including email notifications), but I always have to manually go in and refresh to see if my inbox has been updated.

My gmail won't send emails now that I updated to di18, am I the only one with this problem? the emails come in fine, but nothing goes out. works fine from gmail in the desktop.

I only get my email to show up on my inbox on my phone ONLY when i open email. I currently have it set to to check email every 5 minutes but this is obviously not happening. and i dont get a blinking LED when i get a SMS, Text message.

View 20 Replies View RelatedI did the manual update to 2.0.1 this morning and just now realized that I wasn't getting any incoming email notifications for Gmail. I sent myself a test message from another account and it did not show up on my droid. i went into accounts and manually synced it and now all is well. So, if you notice this issue after the update, just manually sync your accounts and see if that solves it.
View 11 Replies View Relatedim not an expert on how push email works, but my understanding is that gmail messages should appear on my phone without me having to refresh or manually sync the gmail app. for a reason unknown to me, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesnt. at night, i shut down wifi and the mobile network to conserve battery and start up the mobile network when i leave for work in the morning. i get notification of new yahoo email, thru the htc widget, almost instantaneously, yet gmail doesnt come thru until i manually sync the gmail app. then during the course of the day, sometimes gmail messages get pushed right thru and other times not at all until i manually sync the app. meanwhile my yahoo mail comes thru flawlessly.
considering gmail is supposed to push and the htc widget does not, this is the opposite of what i expect. as far as settings, i have auto sync enabled for both the device and for the gmail app. while i always assume user error until proven otherwise, in this instance i think i have all the correct settings, which makes sense considering sometimes gmail does get pushed. its just erratic and unpredictable. anybody got any ideas what's going on here?
I do not seem to have any LED notifications for anything? Is there one on/off toggle for all apps for this? I have reset my phone once and never seen the LED light up?

I wanna use handcent but i get the dual notification problem.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was in an area with some not so great reception this evening and at one point my text messages wouldn't send.I decided to update my profile and prl just to see what it could do for me and the updates failed. Oddly enough, I could still access 3g data, just no text.I could make phone calls, just no outgoing texts (can't confirm incoming).Anyway, on my way home, I sent myself a text and it worked fine, but I still couldn't connect to update my prl or profile which I've never had a problem with before. I got home and did a quick search and found this thread: Samsung Moment.Can't update Firmware, Profile, or PRL.I'd follow up with a call to Sprint to see if this might hopefully be the case, but they aren't available right now. Anyone else having trouble updating their prl or profiles tonight?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI fought for quite a while trying to add custom ringtones to the epic, don't know why they make it so difficult. Anyway, create a two folders on you phone called "notifications" and "ringtones" these can either be in the root dir of your sd card or nested in another folder. Apperantly it for these it searches for folder names instead of file type. I have my nested in another folder called media. I use this for all external media I add to phone.
Also remember that the phone will find pictures by file type. So any pictures you put anywhere on your sdcard will show up in gallery. This makes it real easy to create folders for sorting pics. If you don't want a certain folder to show up in the gallery just put a "." in the beginning of the name. Then when you want it to show up in the gallery go to the folder, delete the period at the beginning of the name and there it is in gallery. So folder name "confidential pics" will show in gallery but folder name ".confidential pics" wont show up in gallery. I use Astro for changing the folder names on the phone and it works pretty good.
anyone know how to edit the type of vibrate associated with notifications? for instance for emails it uses the notification ringtone, but only has an option to vibrate and it uses the long vibrate. i want to change the vibrate to just a short one. i was able to do this on my hero. i just cant find the option anywhere.

AFIK, this option wasn't implemented yet. Is this starting to roll out now?

I was wondering if the Epic lockscreen shows any indications of unread items (particular SMS text messages)? Also, if music is being played, does it show music controls on the lockscreen so that you dont have to unlock the screen and go to the music app before being able to control music?
Is there anyway to get the notifications to be louder than the ones installed with the phone? I can't hear them when I have the phone in my pocket, any help will be deeply appreciated.
I can barely hear the ring tone much less the notifications and I downloaded songs but that doesn't increase the volume for them.
I have a few questions about how Chomp works on the Epic: If I download Chomp, will I still get notifications at the top notification pull down on the home page? Or are the only notifications given on the actual chomp icon? (I don't want to have two notifications.) I was also wondering if I would still be able to use the "speak to text" feature that the stock app has? Lastly, there is a set of permanent icons on the home screen (phone, contacts, messaging, apps). When I click messaging, would it go to chomp?

Today I received the auto-update notice on my device, but I don't want to just go ahead with it and lose root access. So I am hoping someone can tell me how I should handle this. I would like to update, but only if I can keep root access as I have overclocked and run a number of other root-only apps. Here is my device info... I'll try to provide as much as I can. I used the instructions listed HERE to root my device, and HERE to overclock. Also, will it be necessary to wipe all my data to perform this update and re-root? And if it turns out that I am not ready to update right now, is there a way to stop the automatic notifications?

Since 2.2 upgrade if I do not open or delete any email in my in box I keep receiving new notifications on every refresh. Prior to upgrade one an email was downloaded from the pop3 server there would be no subsequent notifications. What can I do.

I've set each of us up with a gmail account, and I was able to successfully import my contacts from iTunes (I had an iPod Touch). I've spent quite a bit of time in Gmail editing the contacts and adding photos, phone numbers, etc, and would like my wife to share these as well, as a starting point. So what I did was export the contacts to my desktop as a .csv file, then log into *her* account, and import the.csv file. That works great, except I don't have any of the thumbnail photos (which makes sense, 'cause there's nothing in the .csv file about photos). Is there another way to share my contacts with photos, short of going through the whole process of editing each contact from her account and adding a photo?
