I updated radio, rooted with unrevoked 3 and installed syraider vanilla. Now i have external speaker issue. Sound crackly like its blown. Anyone have a similiar issue?Dont know if its software related or not.Was fine before I updated.

I have what I thought was a flawless Epic, till this morning my speaker started sounding like static was coming out of it. Now everything that comes out the speakers sounds like static or like a blown speaker. Sucks cause now I have to take it back to bestbuy. I'm hopping somehow it fixes by its myself.

He had to bring the first one back due to his external speaker sounded blown, and now the replacement one he got is doing the same thing. We were wondering if this is a popular problem and if the next replacement he gets Saturday is going to do the same thing all over again. He never uses the external speaker only for the message alerts. We are both stumped onto why the same thing would happen to both phones. I have the same phone and mine hasnt done it I do have mine on vibrate a lot more then his.

Before rooting when I had my earpiece in - if I received a message or call then sound came only through the earpiece. Now it comes through the earpiece and the external speaker on the phone. You can still hear but there's like a vibration or ratling sound kind of like how a car speaker sounds if you crank it to bits. I was thinking this would either get fixed or replaced (don't care either way), but will verizon have a problem if I have 2.1 V2 on there? Void warranty or no?

Laying on my desk or in my hand it seems fine. Almost like the speaker doesn't like the upward vertical position or something.

On my second one the sound was much less apparent but it was still kind of there. Its been about a week now and I believe it is now just as bad as the first one I had. View 3 Replies View Relatedjust received my X about two weeks ago. I love it. It is way better than my old BB Storm. So far I have only found one issue that I can't seem to resolve. It seems that from time to time my external speaker just stops working for media files. The ringer will still work as will any alerts, but if I try to play a YouTube file there is no sound. A reboot of the unit will fix this, but I am wondering if this is a know glitch or if I might have an app that is causing this. I tried searching for this topic but the only thing that comes up is a thousand threads complaining about the sound level.

Is there a way to get the ring/notification only through the headphones? I really don't want to have to turn my phone on silent mode and just have a pause when the phone rings while I'm listening to music. so far i have been unable to find a setting or app for this issue.

I never noticed it before today, but my Eris is definitely not disabling music playback through the eternal speaker when I plug headphones (or an adapter, or anything) into the headphone jack. Sound still comes through the earbuds or headphones nice and crisp, just the speaker is ALSO playing the same sound, at the same volume.
This sort of defeats the purpose of one of the main reasons I use headphones- to mute sound for everyone but me. I tried different music players, different headphones, made sure the phone knew they were non-mic headphones, everything. I can't find a setting to tell the speaker to disable when headphones are in- isn't it supposed to be automatic?
Ok so this is the first problem I've had with my evo so far. In the last two days my external speakerhas stopped working but only after I change the profile to vib or silent then go back to normal. To get sound again I have to do a battery pull then it works again. So I have a feeling its a software issue. I wanted to know 1st if any one else has had this 2nd what do I want to use to back up to do a reset. And 3rd how do I do a reset.

Whenever I try to make or receive a call I cannot hear the other person speaking. If I switch to speaker or headset then I can hear them just fine, but if I try to use the ear-speaker there's nothing. Anyone got any bright ideas on what's wrong/how to fix it?

has anybody noticed there speaker being not as clear sounding and distorted after the 2.1 update? mine sucks ever since i updated probably nothing can be done to fix??
