Sprint HTC Hero :: Cracking Sound In Speaker

Sprint HTC Hero :: Volume High Speaker Sound
Mar 15, 2010I could not find a specific thread about my question so i thought i would start one. is anyone else having the issue on their speaker that it gets distorted when the volume is high. plus i think the sound is not even that loud when its high. is this how the sprint htc hero is or do i need to get a new one?

Feb 16, 2010I'm having problems with the ear-speaker of my HTC Hero. It has been working great for near 4 months now then out of nowhere the ear-speaker stopped working yesterday. Whenever I try to make or receive a call I cannot hear the other person speaking. If I switch to speaker or headset then I can hear them just fine, but if I try to use the ear-speaker there's nothing. Anyone got any bright ideas on what's wrong/how to fix it?

Jun 7, 2010I was one of the first in Nashville to receive my phone after preordering at bestbuy. Got it Friday morning and spent all day Friday and most of Saturday playing around with it. Saturday night i was fiddling with the front facing camera to see what sort of photos it took, and i hit the shutter button and then it happened!
Literally - a flash of smoke and a spark with this unforgettable sound of cracking glass. Some sort of short has caused my main speaker (the earpiece) to completely fail, the front facing camera no longer works, and there is a diagonal crack from the Sprint logo at the top right down about 1/3 of the way down the screen on the left side.
Called Best Buy, and they're going to replace it, as soon as they get more in. Oh well. Everything else works, so i'll be using a lot of speakerphone until the replacements arrive.
Sprint HTC Hero : Notification Sound Change - Different Sound Than The Other
Apr 28, 2010Right now my phone makes the same sound whether I get a email or a text message. Can I make one have a different sound than the other? If so please tell me in detail how. I only see one notification sound area.

Aug 1, 2010I did a wipe and clean install for Fresh 2.1.1 and have no speak phone on phone calls. I have nothing from the speaker.Tested it a few times, never works with a phone call.Speaker works for media - MP3 and custom ringers etc.Is the a known issue and or fix for this ?

Jan 7, 2010I have been looking everywhere for a compatible dock/cradle for the HTC Sprint Hero that has the ability to charge the phone while also including external speakers for music playback while at work and/or home. Something similar to one of the ipod style speaker docks would be phenomenal. I even thought of buying of those styles and then getting an ipod to mini usb adapter for the Hero to plug into. I just don't know if it would work properly. It sounds like a good idea. Has anyone else found an alternative or tried something similar to this?

Oct 28, 2009this is mu 2nd hero phone and both will now not allow sound to come through headphone. At 1st the sound comes through great then np sound at all through headphones.
Today at lunch, I am walking outside aneto into 7-11 andfeel my phon3 vibrare and then no sound throuth the headphones. It's like the headphones are muted. When headphones are plugged in there is no symbol showing heaephones are plugged in.

Jul 29, 2010I finally changed the voicemail system on my Hero from Sprint's "visual voicemail" (which is misleading because it doesn't transcribe voicemails) to Google Voice. It's nice to see my transcribed voicemails now. However, when I actually want to hear them (if the transcription didn't work well), it only comes through the external speaker; the speaker on the back of the phone. I went into Google Voice settings and under "Voicemail Playback" I tried the only two options: "Play via Handset" and "Play via Speaker." Unfortunately, both play through the speaker phone speaker. How do I change it to the phone speaker? I also can't adjust the volume, so the whole world hears my voicemails through the external speaker.

Jan 21, 2010My fiance has already gone through 2 Droid eris well he is on his second one. He had to bring the first one back due to his external speaker sounded blown, and now the replacement one he got is doing the same thing. We were wondering if this is a popular problem and if the next replacement he gets Saturday is going to do the same thing all over again. He never uses the external speaker only for the message alerts. We are both stumped onto why the same thing would happen to both phones. I have the same phone and mine hasnt done it I do have mine on vibrate a lot more then his.
