Has anyone noticed a slight rattle sound at the top of the phone? I first noticed this when the volume was turned up on calls. But tapping on the back near the camera lens also produces the noise. Trying to decide if I need to exchange.

How amazing is the desire I absolutely love it, best phone ever. Had to get that off my chest to fellow desire owners. Anyways when I put my phone down it makes a slight rattle, after inspecting closer I noticed that when I tap around the camera area it also makes a slight rattle. I have looked around and found that people are having the same problem with the Nexus one and Hero and apparently its the auto focus.
View 14 Replies View RelatedNoticed since I work in a rather quiet environment. During office hours I need to keep it on vibrate mode. When the phone vibrates during a call, it causes a severe rattling noise when the phone is in my hands or if the bottom is not resting against a hard object. Removing the battery compartment cover and repeat, and the rattle is non existent. With the battery cover on, the rattle can be diminished by pressing firmly on the top section of the cover.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFirstly just wanted to say how useful this forum has been in keeping up to date with all the latest goings on for my HTC Hero (well, T-Mobile G2 in my case). Anyway. I'm having some problems with the speaker on my phone, the one you hold to your ear, rather than the one that plays music, loud speaker etc. I think I've found a solution, so wanted to share that with you guys, but also find out if anyone else has had a similar problem.
My phone has started crackling a lot when making calls. Other people can hear me fine, but their voice seems to crackle and fizz if it gets too loud. If I turn the volume up on my phone it gets even worse. At first I thought it was a blown speaker or something, but looking at the sim card holder, it seems to be that that's causing a rattle, it gets vibrated when the sound comes through the speaker. When I tap the back of my phone, gently!, it makes a slight rattling sound. I can eliminate the problem entirely by taking the back off the phone and firmly holding the top of the battery, thus stopping the sim card holder rattling around. However this isn't an ideal solution for everyday use!
the speaker on my hero is only playing sound from the left side of the camera. is this how its supposed to be or do i have a faulty device?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI don't know if any of you guys are having this problem, but i hear a really annoying rattle around the camera area of the phone. every time i set my phone down somewhere i hear a rattle, and it is very annoying. i wanted to know where it was coming from so i shook the phone next to my ear, it is definitely coming from the camera area. anyone else having this problem? is there an easy fix?
View 6 Replies View RelatedMine feels a little loose, and it make a rattle sound, am i the only one with this? its like the plastic isnt tight or something, but when you press it its nice and firm to "click" up or down.
also the bottom of the screen/whole left side where the KB is kind of dips down about a hundreth or tenth of an inch wen you press something on the screen on that side, im guessing thats normal for a slider.
I have what I thought was a flawless Epic, till this morning my speaker started sounding like static was coming out of it. Now everything that comes out the speakers sounds like static or like a blown speaker. Sucks cause now I have to take it back to bestbuy. I'm hopping somehow it fixes by its myself.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI got my phone today, but I'm having an issue with the earpiece speaker rattling. It makes a high pitched buzzing sound basically. Does anyone else have this problem? If I press on the grill covering the speaker it seems to go away. I'm planning on taking it to a Sprint store to compare.
Let me know if you have any thoughts.
Anyone else getting nasty dust on the the areas above the speaker and under the home buttons? It's looking really disgusting to me.
View 14 Replies View RelatedHow exactly is the speaker on the Samsung Captivate? I'm with an iPhone 2G and I think things sound louder with headsphones+max volume than the iPhone's speaker. Like, the only way I can hear a song outloud with a few others is if we're not near anyone or anywhere outside or making any noise. I mean, it's the most fail I've probably seen on phone in terms of a speaker. That being said, I'm hoping the Captivate has a decent speaker?
Also, durability? I've dropped my iPhone 2G at least, with no exaggeration, 30 times, and yeah, it's holding up. Backs filled with more scratches than anything, the bottom plastic is starting to tear up a little, but other than that, it's working and not broken. Will I survive with the Captivate?
I'm going to be trialing the iPhone 4 for a month or so via my dad and his workplace's offer, and yeah, within the next month, I'm going Captivate or i4...Hopefully, works well, since I've only stayed a year with almost all of my phones (except the iPhone 2G, which was three years =0...gotta love that app store). I'm really hoping Samsung comes out with some GPS fix, too, because my directions fail and I'm hoping to substitute my phone for a GPS...I've managed to work with it on the iPhone 2G via cell tower positioning/wi-fi+google maps for now, but yeah, I don't think I'd like a phone that shows me on the wrong street.
I'm really not crazy about this phone after playing with it the other day at the at&t store. The earpiece speaker volume is VERY low. Reception drops like a cinder block, from holding it pretty much anywhere. Its pretty chuggy, and i'm not very confident about support from the community. that being said, there are a lot of nice things about the phone. Howerver, one thing it HAS to have, is HSUPA. I tried to do an upload test, but i couldnt find any sites that worked. And i didnt know if here was an app i could get, plus the market wasnt set up.

The notification sound comes through both my headphones and the rear speaker. What's up with that, I'd like for all sound to come through the headphones when they're plugged in.

On my second one the sound was much less apparent but it was still kind of there. Its been about a week now and I believe it is now just as bad as the first one I had. They almost look like LEDs (although I realize they aren't, or shouldnt be). You can see them in the owners manual pics but they arent labeled on their diagram, and I can't figure out what they are.

Shouldn't the phone's external speaker not be playing music while I'm using my headphones? Sometimes the external speaker will remain silent while my headphones are working (as I would imagine should be the case) until I receive a text message, and then the external speaker will play music along with the headphones. When my jawbone is connected, it works fine for phone calls, but the sound for turn by turn comes out of the phone speaker...on the music player it also doesn't "see" my jawbone when asking to use BT..but it will see my Moto S9 headset...seems a little strange..

Whenever I try to make or receive a call I cannot hear the other person speaking. If I switch to speaker or headset then I can hear them just fine, but if I try to use the ear-speaker there's nothing. Anyone got any bright ideas on what's wrong/how to fix it?

I'm not sure if it's a bug or missing feature but I can't seem to play movies that are encoded in 5.1 sound. The Captivate will play high bitrate video fine and that is awesome, but it would be silly to expect someone to encode a movie in a high bitrate and only use a stereo track.
