Is there a way in Android to force output through the phone speaker, even if a headphone is plugged into the jack? I know there has to be a way because when you are talking on the phone, you can put someone on speaker phone, even if there is headphones plugged into the jack.

The voice call speaker on my Legend has become extremely unpleasant to use for calls. I can only describe the output as scratchy, buzzy or raspy. At first I had hoped it was a reception issue, but since the headset provided works with perfect clarity during a call, I am sure it must be a hardware issue. This issue started 2 months after I bought the phone.I contacted the nearest Bell store (Canadian mobile provider), and described the problem. I was told that 3 other similar cases with the HTC Legend had been received that the representative had heard of.Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? If you sent it away to be fixed, was the problem corrected with no further difficulties?I'm hesitant to pay for the shipping and repair costs if this is a persistent problem or hardware malfunction that is prone to happen time after time.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased the Jawbone Jambox. Very nice bit of kit and the sound is great.When I pair with my laptop, it works no problem outputting the sound from Spotify or Movies etc.
When I try and play music from my handset, it just comes out the handsets speakers even though it is paired. The same for games and video.I have an HTC Desire with Cyanogen 7 installed.
The Jambox has a built in mic and works fine when paired as a hands free setup. I hear the phone ringing from the speakers so that proves it is working.I have done a bit of reading and have found some posts talking about on the iPhone, you can set what the phone outputs the sound to. ie. The Jambox rather than the builtin speaker.
I have not been able to find anything like that for the ROM I am using or even mention of it for other Android handsets.
Is there any way to tell if an app is currently using the speaker (playing music or generating other sounds)? Specifically, I'd like to detect if an alarm clock is going off (not only the one that comes with the system, but any alarm clock), but I'll settle for simply knowing if any sounds are coming out of the speaker.

All the options are turned on accordingly and my sounds are up to full. I am not using a 3rd party keyboard either, im still using the Android one. I have rebooted, battery pulled and checked any updates, but still nothings.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've recently come to the conclusion that the sound quality on the Droid Incredible is sub-par. I'm talking about the headphone output when playing music MP3's or Pandora streaming ... not call/reception quality. The sound is just not as clear, bass is very muddy, and treble is compressed.
Anyone else make these observations? Maybe it's just my phone? Fwiw, I compared the Inc against a Creative Xen Micro MP3 player and a Nu Force USB DAC on my PC. Headphones I tested were with decent Westone UM2 and Grado SR80. Most of my audio sources were electronic / trance MP3's at high bit rate, which tend to have a very full range of bass & treble.
I'm assuming this is just HTC's electronic design ... choice of DAC's, opamps, etc.
Any app who can select output sound device ?
Like if we plug a headphone on the jack, let us choose to force audio output to external speaker ?
Actually my problem is that skype and voip app have sounds going throw external speaker and not internal speaker.
My fiance has already gone through 2 Droid eris well he is on his second one. He had to bring the first one back due to his external speaker sounded blown, and now the replacement one he got is doing the same thing. We were wondering if this is a popular problem and if the next replacement he gets Saturday is going to do the same thing all over again. He never uses the external speaker only for the message alerts. We are both stumped onto why the same thing would happen to both phones. I have the same phone and mine hasnt done it I do have mine on vibrate a lot more then his.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with the ear-speaker of my HTC Hero. It has been working great for near 4 months now then out of nowhere the ear-speaker stopped working yesterday. Whenever I try to make or receive a call I cannot hear the other person speaking. If I switch to speaker or headset then I can hear them just fine, but if I try to use the ear-speaker there's nothing. Anyone got any bright ideas on what's wrong/how to fix it?

No speaker.I can get the backside speaker to come on in a phone call, but any other apps, games, etc-- sound is only thru earpiece, not the backside. Is there some setting I've missed. Before rooting when I had my earpiece in - if I received a message or call then sound came only through the earpiece. Now it comes through the earpiece and the external speaker on the phone. I have what I thought was a flawless Epic, till this morning my speaker started sounding like static was coming out of it. Now everything that comes out the speakers sounds like static or like a blown speaker. Sucks cause now I have to take it back to bestbuy. I'm hopping somehow it fixes by its myself.

I got my phone today, but I'm having an issue with the earpiece speaker rattling. It makes a high pitched buzzing sound basically. Does anyone else have this problem? If I press on the grill covering the speaker it seems to go away. I'm planning on taking it to a Sprint store to compare.

I'm working with an ARM based development board running Android 2.3.3, that's connected to a monitor via a VGA cable. Due to a lack of a touchscreen I'm controlling the device via keyboard and mouse.
The main Android desktop displays fine, however when I open certain apps, the orientation is wrong. It thinks its in portrait mode when it should in fact be displayed in a landscape mode. Since the development board lacks gyroscopes, this has me craning my neck to navigate the app. It wouldn't be so bad but on top of that, the mouse cursor doesn't go down beyond about 75% of the screen, leaving the bottom 25% of the app inaccessible.
Is there any way I can force a system-wide landscape orientation, either via some settings, or some adb command?
I have a custom view i am writing for my drawing app but the first time i set the drawing into it i need to get the dimension for the view (using getMeasuredWidth() & getMeasuredHeight()). But until the view display these return 0. I have tried calling: requestLayout() invalidate() numDraw.measure(MeasureSpec.EXACTLY, MeasureSpec.EXACTLY); but nothing seems to force the values to update.I guess the question i am asking is : does anyone have any tips on how to get view to update its measurements off screen?
