I've noticed sometimes my Incredible battery indicator stops showing the charging symbol but the orange LED is still lit, and if I go to my About Battery, it says "Discharging" rather than "Charging." I don't do anything to the phone to cause this, but would love to know why it's happening if anyone knows.

I guess I have my first major problem with the phone that I can't seem to figure out. As of last night, the battery icon on the top right of the screen has been showing a "?" symbol instead of the usual colored meter.
I tried charging it and the symbol doesn't change it either. Also, it does not seem to charge. I tried turning my phone on and off...and it doesn't do anything.
I've had a Droid X2 for almost 2 years, and as phones usually do, the battery life became pretty bad. It would get to 5% and then quickly die halfway through the day.
I purchased a new battery, and found it to be just as bad (supposedly). It would be down to 5% by noon without much usage, so I thought maybe the problem was with my phone and not an old battery. I'd just turn it off or try to find a charger...
It took me a few days to realize that it lasts hours past when it gets to 5%. HOURS. It reached 5% at about 1pm EST today, I used it my whole commute home on the train, made a two 5-10 minute phone calls this evening, and now past 9pm it still hasn't died.
So, it's not the battery. It's not the worst problem to have... but it would be really nice to know how much battery I have left.
Note: I rooted my phone about 1 week before I got the new battery.
Was there no addition of a battery charging Indicator in the OTA? I only get a solid red light when my battery is below 15%, blinking green for notifications and a solid blue light for missed calls.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe Inc is my first smartphone so I don't know anything about how the LED indicators work. When I get emails and texts, I get the green LED indicator that flashes. Is the LED supposed to keep flashing until you clear the email/text from your notifications panel? I ask because I got an email last night and I didn't check it until I woke up this morning and the LED indicator wasn't flashing anymore. If this is intentional, what's the purpose of having the LED flash for only a limited amount of time?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI dunked my Moto Droid as I fell into a pool this weekend. I probably tried to boot it too soon after that happened, but now a few days later it is operational. Theres a few flecks in the screen display but otherwise I cannot notice any serious deficiencies in the interface. The one major problem I am having however is with the battery. Obviously, it got wet as well, and when the phone did become operational again, it indicated about 50% charge and went down from there as I used it. After it powered down though, when I plugged it in to charge the battery indicator showed a question mark and I can no longer charge it. The Droid will operate when plugged into a wall outlet only (not my computer). Is it possible that replacing the battery is the only necessary fix?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm the author of SystemPanel, which includes task management (killing) features. I've recently noticed a problem with my Droid X where it suddenly will stop accepting a charge. For example, the screenshot below shows that the phone plugged in overnight, yet battery continues to drain: With a bit of testing, it appears that killing the app "usb" results in this behavior occurring. Once it has been killed, the phone will never accept a charge until it the phone is rebooted.
I would greatly appreciate if a fellow Droid X owner could verify this for me. To do this, use SystemPanel (Lite version will work fine, as will ANY task killer, or the OS' own task killer) to terminate the "usb" program. The full name of the process is "com.motorola.usb". Any task manager should also reproduce the behavior if you perform a "end all" or "kill all" operation. Then unplug the device from USB/AC power (if it was plugged in) and then reconnect it. You should see no indication of a USB connection and/or charging if your device suffers the same problem. The issue can then be corrected by rebooting the phone. Here is the process as shown by SystemPanel: It appears that Motorola has incorrectly allowed this process to be user-killable and/or has failed to automatically restart it in the event that it terminates or otherwise fails. Would greatly appreciate feedback on this problem, if this is not unique to my device, I'll be modifying SytemPanel immediately to avoid ever killing this process.
So like everyone else I have to unplug my phone every morning and plug it back in until the light turns green once more to get a full charge. I'm am 99.99% positive that the incredible just stops charging once it reaches 100%.Every morning I unplug it and within 3 minutes it's down to about 89%. So I plug it back in and get ready for work and in about 20 minutes it is green and back to 100% (a real 100%). I hadn't really thought about it until I used Google navigation for the first time this weekend. My phone was at about 92% when I left for my 2 hour trip. I plugged it into my car charger, which definitely works, and was on my a way. I looked at my battery about halfway there and it said it was fully charged. So i reach my destination, unplug my phone and it drops from 100% to 58% instantly. The whole day I thought it was the charger but on my trip back home I used the navigation again and plugged the car charger in. I started at 42% and when I got home I was at 89%.So, it appears that once the incredible gets to 100% it just doesn't accept power from any charger anymore. Hopefully that can be fixed with an update. This was with the stock battery. I have no idea if it is the same with the TP2 or Seidio battery.I wish it was like every other phone I've had that still had a trickle charge even at 100%.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI added BatteryTime to one of my home screens and it asked if I wanted to display the % in the notifications to which I said OK to (it displays in the ongoing notifications and stays displayed in the top left corner of the phone). But now I'd like to remove it from there. I cant find this in the settings? I tried removing the program from the home screen, then re-adding it, but it didn't give me the options like I was displayed initially. Any ideas?

View 2 Replies View Relatedi woke up this morning to find that my inc was pretty hot (left plugged in overnight to charge), and had not charged much (it only got to ~60% starting from 30ish). it also had the overheating warning blinking lights (alternate green and amber) going. i unplugged the phone and the blinking lights stopped and it cooled back down. when it was hot BatteryLeft was reporting 45C, right now it feels normal and reports 31.5C.should i be worried? all i did was plug it in and leave it on my desk like i normally do when charging, this is the first time it's ever done this for me.

Last night same thing, whether the phone was on or off, still a yellow charge light. Today for the first time since I got the phone, the battery indicator itself turned yellow towards the end of the day.Preemptive facts:Prior to starting a new thread, I did a thorough search and found nothing related to this specific battery issue.I have the OEM, red, HTC battery, and have never charged it outside of the phone, or with any charging cable other than the one supplied with the phone.When I first received the phone, I charged it fully, unplugged, and bumped charged before turning it on. For about a week afterward I would charge to green while on, unplug, turn off, and "bump charge". I have never had trouble getting through the day on a single charge, and no, I don't think I was training a lithium ion battery, I believed I may have been training the software of the phone itself.I have tried charging the phone fully both on and off, and have not seen green for over two days. This includes continuous charging for over 10 hours.I have had the phone for roughly seven weeks.The phone does charge- just now I have gone from @25% (as measured on the aforementioned graphical display) to @40%, but at that point it seems to no longer charge, although the "Battery State" says "Charging AC" and the little battery icon shows the charging animation.Have I got a dead battery, or am I missing something? So I figured the battery was done, for whatever reason, and I ordered a replacement battery from Verizon directly. The replacement battery also only charged to 50% after a full night's charge. So...it's probably an issue with the phone itself. I have Total Equipment Coverage but getting a new phone's a hassle and I like my Incredible 2 (not guaranteed to get another I imagine). I figure it might be the phone's "charging circuitry"...is that easily repairable? I need to have a fully-charging phone in a week or so...
