I guess I have my first major problem with the phone that I can't seem to figure out. As of last night, the battery icon on the top right of the screen has been showing a "?" symbol instead of the usual colored meter.
I tried charging it and the symbol doesn't change it either. Also, it does not seem to charge. I tried turning my phone on and off...and it doesn't do anything.

I've noticed sometimes my Incredible battery indicator stops showing the charging symbol but the orange LED is still lit, and if I go to my About Battery, it says "Discharging" rather than "Charging." I don't do anything to the phone to cause this, but would love to know why it's happening if anyone knows.

View 37 Replies View RelatedI just bought the Droid today and am having problems with the charger/battery? I used it all today after purchasing it until the battery ran down. The entire time the battery icon had a question mark instead of the actual status (which I thought was odd at the time). I plugged in my Droid after it died and it turned on, but it doesn't seem to recognize the charger.
I've had it charging for the past few hours, but I still cannot unplug it without it immediately turning off and the battery level is stuck at 5% (the battery and question mark is still in the corner too). For clarification, when its plugged in to the charger, the phone will turn on and function. As soon as I unplug it, the phone turns off.
Is there an app that puts the battery percentage in our battery icon?

I did away with all the motoblur stuff but I've been having problems with my battery life still.... I've been running a bunch of apps, IMing, emails, wifi etc.... and it's been lasting about 6 hours.
Today I cut everything back using "advanced task manager free" and after about 6 or 7 hours I still only had like 40% left...... no where near anything like the specs.
Six hours continuous talk time? 325 hours standby? Certainly not the way it comes out of the box! Who are they trying to kid? Is anyone getting anything near this? Is there even any way to get close to that? WTF? Does anyone find these specifications deceptive?
My battery might not be the best but it seems to be at least average from what I hear. Please tell me what setting I need to get this kid of battery life!
Some people here have said deep cycling the battery helps but that's supposed to be bad for lipo batteries
Some people also say you need to charge the battery fully before first use or you can ruin it but no other sites mention that.
I want to be able to use gps and apps and wifi and email and IM during the day w/o being tied to a charger all day. I was a dedicated sidekick user but now love the cliq.... except for the battery life.
I thought of getting a spare battery but don't want to lug an extra battery around...... I've seen apps (APNdroid) that shut off the data to conserve battery life but I want to use the features of the phone... that's why I have it....... what's the answer?
Btw: "battery graph" and "spare parts" are great apps to monitor battery usage.
Also, in some places it says the bp6x battery is rated at 1300 mAh and in other is says 1420 mAh but it's the same battery! What's up with that?
Question: What kind of battery life do you experience with "normal" usage? Does anyone know what settings to use to approximate the times noted in the Cliq specifications?
Just got my cliq and honestly love it but when in use my battery gets real warm. And the battery life is okay. But I haven't got to have a full days use yet and is there a way to get rid of the apps that come on the phone? Like shazam imeem mobile and junk? I don't need it and I feel its taking up space and any suggestions on apps for my cliq?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI've read that BLUR refreshes all the info it needs for it's social widgets every 15 minutes even if you don't have any widgets placed on your home screen. I'm thinking about buying a Cliq but the fact that BLUR is a battery killer turns me off since the main reason I want to upgrade from my G1 is to have a phone with a keyboard that has better battery life. Is there any way to turn this "Auto refresh" feature off or at least make it longer than every 15 minutes? Even better are there any BLURless roms out there? has any1 tried deleting the BLUR widgets apk? would that make it so it doesnt have to "refresh"? having more memory available from being BLURless is just icing on the cake what really matters to me is battery life.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Motorola Droid, the original.I got this phone back in May or June, my battery life has always been normal, i.e. 12+ hours on normal use throughout the day.I have a non-OEM charger, I have since I got the phone, and it has never affected the phone or the battery life. Recently in the past few weeks I've noticed that my phone's battery has been draining much more frequently, i'm now getting 8+ hours on normal use. Also I have noticed when I plug my phone in to the charger it says it's charging, but when I wake up it's only at 50-60% and I have to unplug it and plug it back in for it to go to full 100%. I've been trying to research why it is doing this, but i'm coming up with no answers.

Now, whenever I dock my phone, it'll get charged, but I'm hardly ever in my car long enough for the phone to get fully charged, so I end up taking the phone off the dock before a full charge. Sorry for the lenght but I thought I'd cover all bases.Anyway here's what happens when I charge my phone overnight. Let's say my battery is at 80%:
1. Turn off Wifi
2. All tasks killed except for Alarm Clock. Sometimes I run the Music Player but it doesn't make a difference with the battery drain issue whether I use it or not.
3. Background data is not enabled
4. The "Stay Awake" (Screen will never sleep while charging) option in the "Applications" menu is NOT CHECKED
5. Auto-brightness is not selected, and brightness is set at the lowest level.
6. Data Roaming (connect to data services when roaming) is not selected
7. Bluetooth not on
8. Charge the phone - I see the animated lightning bolt icon
9. Press the "sleep" button for the screen, or, allow it to naturally go dark after 30s

I was wondering if anyone was able to get their T-Mobile/Motorola Cliq to work on T-Mobile's basic data plan? They now have a specific Android data plan. I can't believe that they raised the data and unlimited text message plan to cost $45/mo. in total for Android phones! I'm using the $19.99 unlimited data/messaging plan now and would like to continue to use it. If anyone has successfully done this, please let me know how you did it.

I was getting about the same battery life as everybody else, about 6-7 hours with moderate usage. Which is what all the beta testers were getting pre release. I thought I would give something a try. First of all, when I picked up the phone it was about 75% charged. I charged it to 100%, and let it go down to about 30% that first day and then charged it. I followed this everyday for the first week, and was still getting the same battery life out of it. I never allowed the device to completely drain and shut off. Well I gave that a shot, and what did I find, My battery is lasting much longer, like doubled. So give this a try. I let the phone die, completely die so it shuts off. Then charge it 100% overnight. Worked for me, don't know if it will work for you, but give it a shot.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm the author of SystemPanel, which includes task management (killing) features. I've recently noticed a problem with my Droid X where it suddenly will stop accepting a charge. For example, the screenshot below shows that the phone plugged in overnight, yet battery continues to drain: With a bit of testing, it appears that killing the app "usb" results in this behavior occurring. Once it has been killed, the phone will never accept a charge until it the phone is rebooted.
I would greatly appreciate if a fellow Droid X owner could verify this for me. To do this, use SystemPanel (Lite version will work fine, as will ANY task killer, or the OS' own task killer) to terminate the "usb" program. The full name of the process is "com.motorola.usb". Any task manager should also reproduce the behavior if you perform a "end all" or "kill all" operation. Then unplug the device from USB/AC power (if it was plugged in) and then reconnect it. You should see no indication of a USB connection and/or charging if your device suffers the same problem. The issue can then be corrected by rebooting the phone. Here is the process as shown by SystemPanel: It appears that Motorola has incorrectly allowed this process to be user-killable and/or has failed to automatically restart it in the event that it terminates or otherwise fails. Would greatly appreciate feedback on this problem, if this is not unique to my device, I'll be modifying SytemPanel immediately to avoid ever killing this process.
Don't know if this has been discussed, but I turn my phone off. Then plug it in and a unique floating battery level appears while charging and it's off.

I see a lot of conflicting things online, and from what I gather...you shouldn't be charging overnight, and you shouldn't frequently do full cycle discharge. So, what is the best practice? Charging semi frequently and shutting it off at night? I dislike this because I use the phone as an alarm, and don't want to wake up with the battery starting at 90 for the day.
Also, if you're not supposed to charge overnight (which i've done with many other phones and they were fine), then if I do get the media dock...it would charge overnight every night as my alarm clock.... isn't that bad for the battery? I'm just concerned about ruining my battery, what have you guys heard, and what effects have you seen?
Friend of mine said he activated a Droid today, brand new, and the battery meter is showing a "?". No meter just the empty battery meter with a question mark inside of it.Anyone have that issue or ever heard such a thing?
