I put the charger in the port and didn't realize that it wasn't charging until after I completely drained the battery. And yes, I plugged it in and checked the outlet. I got it at Best Buy. Is that where I should return it or can I do it at the Verizon store?

Put my phone in my locker two hours before I went on break at work, came back and it was hot to the touch, almost too hot to hold, and was giving me warnings of it turning off. It turned itself off before I could see what was going on. Got it home, threw it on the charger, was completely drained.
I put it in my locker without anything on, had just sent a text message, went to home screen, and locked it. Set it down and that was it. I had just charged it 3 or so hours before and it was on 100%.
What killed my battery life? I checked my battery usage in settings and it was 97% Android OS and 3% something else, forget which and its off to charge up.
I was just about to try taking the battery out, when it changed from a blinking amber to a solid amber. I hope it's charging now!
I hadn't been able to charge my EVO for a little while, and just a little while ago it finally gave up the ghost. I booted back up to recovery after it shut down, where it told me I needed to change the battery.
Well, that's great! Except, it wouldn't let me shut the phone off! It sat there for a few minutes, not responding to my trying to turn the phone off, until, it seems, it completely ran out of power. I have the seidio 3500mah battery, and the cover is a royal pain to remove (usually requiring a butter knife to pry the sucker out of it's death grip!).
Now when I got back to my desk at work, I plugged it in to USB, and the charging light is just blinking amber at me, and it won't turn on yet. Does this sound like it's not charging, or just needs to charge itself up a bit before it will let me turn it back on?
I'm getting a lot of conflicting opinions. Matchup:
1. This site strongly recommends that you charge your battery before activating it.
2. Other sources have noted that you should start it up and use it until it is mostly drained before charging it.
Does anybody have any scientific evidence to support one theory over the other? What are the consequences of letting it drain before charging if you side with #1?
I did a quick search, but there are so many battery threads, I couldn't find one with the same issue. I apologize if I skipped over it.
After having the phone charging all night by my bedside, I wake up, take the phone off the charger, and immediately it drops from 100% to 90%. Sometimes higher..sometimes lower. Today it went to 88%. The phone is plugged in for 8-9 hours.
Is my battery not getting a complete charge? Does the battery stop charging at 100 and begin discharging from there even while plugged in? This happens with my by EVO battery, and the backup battery from my old Hero. Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this issue.
Curious anyone's thoughts on letting a battery completely drain, before charging VS pluggin it in every night, whether its low or not? Does it develop a "memory", and thereby cut the usable charge down?
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy battery drained all the way until the "red" and a popup came up that said "Battery is less than 5 percent. Connect to charger" So I connect to charger. An hour or so later, the battery icon is "full" and green, I disconnect my charger and it immediately shoots down to red with the popup appearing again. I have tried charging it on numerous Motorola chargers, even overnight and it still happens? Anyone have this issue?

For the past three days my battery life has been much worse and when I look in the battery usuage its always showing "Android OS" to be the highest with a percent of something like 60%.It used to be the case that "Display" and "WiFi" were the main cause of drain but now they are hovering at just 10%.When I tap on Android OS it doesnt give me any extra details. Also when I browse through the "partial wake lock" usage on the battery left up it lists "Android System" with a 1/4 bar and all the other processes have no blue bar.Any ideas what part of Android OS is taking up the battery life? How would I be able to find out whats happening inside the "Android OS" process?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was listening to music as I always do. I didn't realize it but the phone (Rezound) drained a bit faster than expected and died completely. So I went to to charge it, and left it overnight, off naturally, now when I power it on, its stuck on a boot loop.
It goes throught the startup animation, and once it gets to Sense, in the few seconds before the radios kick in and it finds the cell service, it reboots and starts all over again. Only way to get it to stop is pulling the battery out.
I started to do the hard reset, but when I got to the window for it, all I saw was Factory Reset (I guess they are the same) so I selected the option for reboot.
The light to charge does show its charging, and at one point, when I had it plugged in this morning, and managed to swipe the ring to get to my swipe lock screen, it was saying I was at 99%. then it goes all slow and then rebooted.
I used the factory wall charger, and its drained I think once or twice before, and I have done the FoxKat method of calibrating before this. Not sure if its a battery thing, since it will power up, or not.
I'm stock, non rooted, on GB.
I don't really want to do a factory reset as I'd like to have my messages saved. I did save them last week when I saw ICS was available, but i have some new since. I'm pretty sure my pictures and videos will be saved during the reset. I don't think that folder gets wiped. However I was going to try going to a VZW store to see about a new battery. The phone is new since June.
I got CL14 on the 19th after having my moment for a couple months they fixed the battery gauge! However, I got a new issue with CL14. I work at a job that is in a bomb proof area. I have always left my phone on in the area even though I usually get no service, sometimes one bar.
The reason I leave the phone on is because sometimes I am in there for 2 minutes, sometimes for 3 hours between breaks so with the long boot times it sucks turning on and off and and off (especially if I am only in there a minute). I also cant switch it off while I am in there since I would get in trouble for taking it out of my pocket.
Eveything had been fine until CL14, now when I go into that room with little service after about 1-2 hours the phone battery it totally dead. The phone is very hot to the touch as well. at first i though it was the screen was somehow on, but I have been checking it every few minutes and its not. Basically my hunch is something changed in the CPU usage when the phone is searching for service with the CL14 update that causes the battery to run out of juice (for real this time) very very fast. Any setting I can change? Most regular cells go into a "power save" mode when there is no service, the moment does not.

I am having a pretty annoying issue that just started tonight. My phone died on me due to the awesome battery life of the hero, upon recharging it and turning it back on as soon as it starts to boot up it gives me the HTC sense force close error and won't let me go any farther. That's all it will do, I've tried turning it off and pulling the battery but to no avail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince few weeks my battery life get drained by my screen. My screen brightness is on his lowest and still draining like 20-30% battery life each hour. Sometimes my screen even drain in stand-by mode... Every other draining apps/things are off.
And then we have random reboots... My nexus 4 just reboot without any reason. Sometimes its reboot in stand-by mode and sometimes when I use my phone. But both without any reason to reboot...?
i woke up this morning to find that my inc was pretty hot (left plugged in overnight to charge), and had not charged much (it only got to ~60% starting from 30ish). it also had the overheating warning blinking lights (alternate green and amber) going. i unplugged the phone and the blinking lights stopped and it cooled back down. when it was hot BatteryLeft was reporting 45C, right now it feels normal and reports 31.5C.should i be worried? all i did was plug it in and leave it on my desk like i normally do when charging, this is the first time it's ever done this for me.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI had been using IMEasy for its multiple-account capability, I found my phone running warm when multiple accounts were connected though, and the battery drained fast; down to 70% in 3 hours in a poor signal area. I thought it was the poor signal. Installed Trillian yesterday, it's connected to 3 IM accounts and after 5 hours I'm only down to 90%, in the same area. I've been a happy Trillian user on the PC, I already had an Astra account from that so setup was SIMPLE. I HIGHLY suggest this app, though it's still in Beta and it IS missing a couple options I would like they're not critical issues to me, and I'm sure they'll fix them.

The 2 missing items (maybe one really) are the ability to set the notification tone in the app and the ability to change the notification LED color in the app.
Strange..My phone had 15% battery. I went into adb and started deleting apps for about 20 minutes. I turn the phone back on and it says it is fully charged.

Even after leaving it plugged in overnight, the next morning I was still at less than half charge, going only by the Settings>About Phone>Battery>Battery Level graphical display. Last night same thing, whether the phone was on or off, still a yellow charge light. Today for the first time since I got the phone, the battery indicator itself turned yellow towards the end of the day.Preemptive facts:Prior to starting a new thread, I did a thorough search and found nothing related to this specific battery issue.I have the OEM, red, HTC battery, and have never charged it outside of the phone, or with any charging cable other than the one supplied with the phone.When I first received the phone, I charged it fully, unplugged, and bumped charged before turning it on. For about a week afterward I would charge to green while on, unplug, turn off, and "bump charge". I have never had trouble getting through the day on a single charge, and no, I don't think I was training a lithium ion battery, I believed I may have been training the software of the phone itself.I have tried charging the phone fully both on and off, and have not seen green for over two days. This includes continuous charging for over 10 hours.I have had the phone for roughly seven weeks.The phone does charge- just now I have gone from @25% (as measured on the aforementioned graphical display) to @40%, but at that point it seems to no longer charge, although the "Battery State" says "Charging AC" and the little battery icon shows the charging animation.Have I got a dead battery, or am I missing something? View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently noticed my Incredible 2 was only showing the battery life to be 50% after charging it overnight. I switched AC chargers and the problem continued. So I figured the battery was done, for whatever reason, and I ordered a replacement battery from Verizon directly. The replacement battery also only charged to 50% after a full night's charge. So...it's probably an issue with the phone itself. I have Total Equipment Coverage but getting a new phone's a hassle and I like my Incredible 2 (not guaranteed to get another I imagine). I figure it might be the phone's "charging circuitry"...is that easily repairable? I need to have a fully-charging phone in a week or so...
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Nexus 7's (2013) battery was low so I decided to charge it. I plugged it in to a AC adapter and it showed that it was charging. The tablet's battery was decreasing! I decided to turn it off and charge it. I've been trying to fix the tablet for a while. It showed empty battery icon, LED light above the usb port was flickering 5 times. Then it showed no more sign of life. I've tried many things including holding power button for 1 minute, tried different chargers, plugged in a different outlet, used original charger. The tablet is still under warranty but I don't want to go through all the trouble to get a new one. My tablet is not rooted.

Put it this way if my phone is unplugged for 10 minutes even having killed all tasks my battery will be at 80%. Friday night I went out about 9pm at barclose my phone was completely dead. View 49 Replies View RelatedI'm sure there are over a thousand topics on this....but when I first got my Desire (3-4 weeks ago), despite poor battery life, it would alway at least receive full charge by indication of the green LED, via the wall charger.
I've noticed in the last week or so, that even after 8-10 hours on the wall charger, the LED stays amber never goes green, and never receives a full charge (settings, about phone, battery).
Also, while on the wall charger, it would suddenly stop charging and "USB Debugging" would start flashing at the top. I disabled that in the mean time.Anyone have any suggestions?
