Is there any way to actually show the address in "People"?If I enter someone's address then the contact has an option - "View home address" which opens the address in Google maps.However the only way to view the full address is to edit the contact or to look it up in google maps.Is there any way to get the address book to just show the full address?

Strange thing has happened since the upgrade. I added the people widget to a screen in the large (9x9) style. The group I choose all have photos for each contact. If I view them in the people group listing, all the photos show next to the name. If I view the individual contacts the photos are there.
But only half the photos show in the widget view - anyone know what's going on? I can't work out what the difference could be between the contacts, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.
Since updating my Desire to 2.2 my people widget no longer show me if people in my favorite group have updated their status! It use to show a green spot by the name with number within it. Has anyone else notice this since updating? This feature was really useful!

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen viewing an individual contact in People (Contacts, Address Book equiv.) the single address field contains the street, city, state and zip. (The Google Contacts, which is the source for the 'People' is also a single field for street, city ,state, zip.) The latter part of the field (zip, state and sometimes city), does not show up without clicking on the address, loading the map (with GPS running) and then clicking on the address balloon in the map.Is there an easier way that I should be doing this to read the entire address for a contact?
View 3 Replies View RelatedA problem that I'm having is that I can't jump through the address book (people) by selecting a letter, I have to manually scroll through the entire address book to get to a phone number or contact that I want. On my old phone, there was an alphabetical slide bar, so that I could jump to any letter in my contacts. Now, when I want to call someone with a name starting with the letter Z, I have to manually scroll through my entire address book to get to that name.

I've only been an Android/HTC Hero user for about a week now, and have a weird thing happening with my Hero. I've probably done something to cause this, but, I can't figure it out.
I have several contacts in my People list, and most of them have multiple phone numbers listed with them. When I choose People, and then say my sister, who has two mobile numbers, a work number and a home number, I get a small detailed card that pretty much fills the screen and allows me to choose a number to call mobile, call home, call work, then it says send message to each number, send email.
But, say when I choose my wife, I can only Call Other, Edit Contact, Delete Contact and Send Contact as vCard.
It didn't used to do this. It used to give me these choices for my wife too. My wife has a home number, a cell number, a truck number, I need to be able to text her cell, etc. Basically, I need the same options for her as I have for my sister.
I have the same issue with many of my contacts. I don't know what happened to cause this. Any help fixing this would be much appreciated. Hopefully, I won't have to do a master reset to do so!
Just getting used to my HTC Desire, after reading your forum I was comforted regarding battery life and it seems much better now than the first few days.
I see another post on this but no answer, the address book only gives one line of the address is then any way round this? Even my first pda a Psion 3 had the option of which fields to display etc. there seems very little option to format what is seen, not that I am unhappy about the rest but to have to edit to see all the address is barmy.
Another thing way back then that still is not found is search all fields of the contacts, i.e. to find a number of someone that rang on another phone.
how do i make the calendar show birthdays from all my contacts in People? it seems to only show Facebook birthdays. but some people in FB didn't enter their birthday in their profile. so i entered it manually into People but it doesn't show their birthday in HTC calendar widget.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 9 Favorites set up on my Incredible, 8 of them work perfectly (I have them fixed up so that when I choose the person, the entire address card comes up so I can choose to call, email, text or whatever), and the ninth (set up only to place a telephone call) used to work perfectly, now not so much.When I select the contact, I get a message that says "Call not sent, no valid number entered".I have looked at his address card, and all seems correct.I have not changed anything so really don't know what is going on.I thought maybe if I deleted this one contact and then re-added, it would fix it, but when I try to delete this one, the phone looks like it wants to delete the other 8 as well, and I really don't want to have to set this up again (actually, can't remember how I got them to show the whole address book entry).

1. Understand the difference between Contacts and People in the phone? What I mean by that is under the list of programs there is one called " People " if i click that I see I can add people with ( phone, email and birthdate )Yet I also see on my 2nd screen a widget called " Favourites " which says Add contacts and when I hit add contacts it already has a list of names and emails that I totally dont recall adding but I do recognize. I believe it pulled them from my gmail account, So i have deleted them in gmail as I dont need them, but is there a way to delete them all in one go in the phone?

Got a Desire last week, and it's my first smartphone so am on a bit of a learning curve, but the phone does rock.
Anyway, I'm a little confused with regards to the People Widget.
I have it configured on one of my home screens and its linked to my Gmail contacts account. I have set my favourites (grouped as 'Starred in Android')
and synched the favourites to go to that group when you first set it up.
Now, the phone also has 3 duplicate contacts in the list - all of the duplicates look like they've come from Facebook, but I can't get rid of them from the list.
At first I thought that the phone was trying to synch my gmail contacts with my facebook contacts, but then it hasn't done all of my Facebook contacts that match the contacts in my Gmail.
I'm a bit confused as to how they've got in there.
I've tried resysnching Gmail and Facebook, removed the People widget and re-added it, I've checked everything in my Gmail contacts but can't see anything un-toward, I've tried having background data sync enabled and disabled whilst trying to remove these to no avail.
I still can't seem to remove these 3 duplicate entries.
I'm really interested in buying a Desire although, unlike some, I intend to buy the phone outright with no contract as I already have a contract I am happy with.However, despite people saying this phone is cheaper than the iPhone, average prices are about 400 which is about the same price you can pick up a 16gb 3Gs. So, am I missing something? Whilst here, am I correct in thinking HTC offer a 2 year Warranty? For 400 I would like at least some safety in case it breaks through no fault of my own.

Is their anyway I can rectify this? When I try to edit the contact it does not give me the option to unlink said contact from facebook. My wife has been playing with her new phone and needs some help with contact management.1, How can she keep the telephone contacts separated from her facebook contacts. Currently when she presses the phone button from her home page it seems to show all contacts. However when she goes to HTC People it is set to only show phone contacts not facebook contacts. 2, When you have facebook contacts how do you delete them? Do you have to remove them as a friend?I've changed my phone number on my facebook profile but it still shows on my wife's desire as my old number. She's tried removing me as a friend and re-adding me and it's still wrong.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running 2.1 on a HTC Desire and I have a wierd problem with my contacts.Prior to purchasing my Desire I used a Nokia N96, all my contacts were stored on the SIM card which I just popped into my new Desire.If I go into Phone I see all my contacts with their numbers displayed underneath, however if I go to "People" I only see the contact with no number associated with it, if I go to edit a contact it does not show any number at all.Also if I send a text from another number (which is stored in "People") the text delivers and show only the number it was sent from, it does not link to the stored contact.I copied all SIM contacts to the Phone to see if this made any difference, alas it did not!

When someone calls me from that land line, caller ID always shows that it's my sister's boyfriend calling me, when 90% of the time it'll be my sister. In the People list, the phone doesn't remember some of the settings I've put for people.
As in, for those that I have linked with their Facebook accounts, only few show the name taken from their Facebook profile instead of all.
It's allways the same people it forgets, no matter how many times I enter the contact and choose the name from Facebook for it - the accounts stay always linked perfectly, and it started remember the setting on couple it had forgotten earlier, but still the many same ones just forget it
Here's example of what happened (made up names)
Names:
Phone: Jane, Facebook: Jane Doe
Phone: John, Facebook: John Doe
Phone: Joe, Facebook: Joe Sixpack
Phone: Fred, Facebook: Fred Bloggs
The way I set them up to show in People:

The way the actually show up after a minute or two of phone idling:

After re-setuping the missing ones, couple minutes idling:

So it starts remembering one or few after I've re-setuped them to show the facebook name again, but it still resets to showing only the phone contact's name on some of them, no matter how many times I re-setup them to show facebook name instead
I don't know how it's happened, but my Xbox Live gamertag is listed in the list of contacts when I go to "All People". There's no phone number of email address or anything attached to it, so it's a completely pointless entry. How can I delete it? There's no option to delete it when I press the Menu key and "All People" is the only place the gamertag appears.
