All of my contacts are currently tied to the "Phone" category.I'm interested in changing the category to "Gmail" to be able to sync my contacts back to Gmail.Is there an option to change the category of my contact after the fact? I see that you select when inputting them but I imported my entire db and can seem to change them!

Sprint guy told me that when I added a Gmail account, that all my contacts would sync to that, etc. Problem - LOTS (ok - most) of the info I have on my phone for my contacts/People is NOT synced to my GMail contact info. My phone went funky the other day so I went to the laptop to grab a friends phone number and realized it wasn't there - only her email address. I haven noticed this with most everyone else, too.I have read (and was told at Sprint) that at some point I'll likely have to do a master re-set and with the update coming next week, I want to make SURE all my info is stored somewhere.

Old craigslist ads are now in my contact list.I would like to have a contact with their mobile, home, emails, etc as one contact not 3,4 or 5.Also, I selected which ones I wanted before the link and I ended up will all of them.Finally, the people widget would be great if you didnt have to select a default action. I might text the same person alot but how do I call or email them from the widget if they have a default command?

But, when I tap "phone" I get all those people PLUS everyone on my dang facebook. I didn't set it up like that so I'm assuming it has to do with either friendstream or facebook syncing. I don't necessarily want ALL those people in my contacts. Is there a way to change that?

But that seems lucky in this case.How could I do the equivalent of the above statement in general if the implementer of the content provider hadn't been so nice as to join for me?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have all of my contacts linked to their respective facebook accounts, but the pictures that show up when I go to my People never update with the facebook pictures, they have stayed the same since the day I linked the two regardless of how many times the person has changed their default picture since then. Is there any way for me to change this so the pictures in my People update with facebook? Since they are linked I assume they should be able to do this.

I do not want all my FB friends showing up in the 'Phone' contacts and there does not appear to be a way to delete them. In other words, there are "friends" I have on FB that I have no desire to call and I just don't want them in my phone. Is there any way to make the 'Phone' contacts match the 'People' widget?

Is anyone aware of another app which replaces that app and does the same thing? How hard is it to pull that app as well and have it function on a vanilla rom for purely personal use as im sure theres some sort of liability involved there legally if distributed.

I had a Samsung Infuse before this and have never had a problem. I've had the S4 for about 3 weeks now and this hasn't happened until yesterday. And since yesterday it has happened 3x's. At first I thought it was a Trulia app (realestate app) that I was using to try to call some realtors. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence but the first 2 times I was on the app and my contacts disappeared. How I recovered them was through the contacts recovery feature on Gmail. I would be SOL if I were out and needed to call someone on my contacts list immediately and without access to my laptop.
View 5 Replies View RelatedGF picked up LG Ally, verizon rep transferred her contacts from her previous phone to the Ally - all was fine. A day later she needed to change her gmail password, which she did - the phone complained about a sync error, asked for her new password and gmail sync worked again. (So far the same as my Inc). After changing the password, she noticed that on the Contacts tab, only one person, herself, is displayed. Looking in the call log and performing searches, we see that all of the previous contacts are, in fact, still stored in the phone somewhere. I have tried changing which groups of contacts sync with the phone, pretty much everything with the exception of a factory reset.

When my girlfriend got her Eris about 4-5 months ago Verizon was kind enough to copy her contacts from her Razor phone to her new Eris. However she now needs to return the phone for service (silent call bug) and she went to G mail to ensure all her contacts was backed up... they are not. I have a Droid 3. My Accounts include my main Gmail acct, a gmail acct I hardly ever use (no contacts issues there), a pop3 account and a Touchdown-Exchange account which I dont need because Im not connected to that Exchange server any longer. Some time ago, since I wasnt on the Exchange server any more, I deleted the Touchdown account. Then I realized some or most of my Google contacts had disappeared from the phone. Thinking that this would delete the same contacts from the Gmail servers when it synced, I immediately restored the Touchdown account, restoring the lost contacts to the phone. Are these 2 issues related?
Does anyone know how to change Google voice message that people hear when they call from the phone? I know how to do it from the computer but can't find it on the phone.

However, I am not able to find the particular forum thread helping me out.I just got my HTC Desire yesterday and managed to get my contacts on my gmail-account (in the internet). So far so good. My contacts are "safe" in my google-mail-account and I was able to export them as cvs.Now, on my HTC Desire they actually show up, if I choose "people" -> "menu and view" -> "Google".In the list of "view" I can also see my SIM Card (which says its empty and that is correct) and "Phone" which is empty as well. Please correct me if I am wrong:From what I think I see my contacts are on my internet googlemail account only and my phone is connecting to the internet to get them.But that is not I would want. I would want my contacts being synced between my phone (which is not necessarily connected to the internet all the time) and my internet google-mail account.Now, is there a way to bring those contacts on my phone (using the on board tools) so I can use them "offline" or am I misunderstanding the menu and the contacts are already "offline" on my phone marked as "Google" contacts?
