HTC Hero :: Where Are My Contact Photos Stored / Need To Do A Factory Reset

I need to do a factory reset, unfortunately. I've backed stuff up - the only think I can't find is the photos I have set with my contacts. I've taken these photos with the contacts app, using the camera, and they are the ones that appear when an incoming call is made. However I've searched all the available directories, including the obvious DCIM, albumthumbs, etc, and can't find them anywhere.I want to save them - where are they?!

I had some photos in the phone's internal storage, my friend did a factory reset on it, and now all of them are gone. I have tried nearly all available android applications like Undelete, Hexamob and Disk digger etc but no luck. Disk digger only found 3 photos.
The Huawei Ascend P1 has mass storage option and I have all the drivers installed but it doesn't mount. Only If I insert an external SD then it mounts. So recovering files using a PC software isn't working either.

I thought that if we sync'd facebook to the Hero that people's display pictures would automatically become their contact photo on the hero.can someone tell me if this is possible and how they've done it?

Just ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.

I under stand how to get to where it is supposed to be by going settings,security and then it should say factory reset but instead all that is listed is screan unlock patters,passswords and credential storage? No where does it say factory reset?

I'm holding out for the official 3 Mobile 2.1 upgrade, but I was surprised to find that as part of the process - when it eventually arrives! - the phone will do a factory reset. I'm pretty sure that other carriers didn't force a hard reset, but hey ho, cest la vie. Anyway, could anyone post me an idiot's guide to what I need to back up, and how I go about it? With regard to contacts everything's Gmail and there are no contacts stored on the phone.

I've recently got a Hero and have to say so far I've very happy with it.But during set-up I entered one of my Gmail account details, but now realise my other account would have been a better choice.Aside from my dumb-arse-ery, I'd like to confirm if it's possible to alter the Gmail account, without having to do a factory reset?

I have an unlocked HTC Hero from Telus and I have a Fido SIM card in it.Everything works fine except for GMail, Android Market, gChat etc.I cannot connect to them it gives my this message every time "This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services."In order to solve this problem do I need to reset the phone? and if so, will doing so erase my unlock code that I entered?

I had a HTC Hero which I sold to a friend.Before sending him the phone I Goolged how to log my Google account out of the Hero so that my friend could log in under his account.The answer I found on a multitude of website was to perform a hard reset of the phone, back to factory setting.As such, I performed the Factory Reset but the phone was originally Unlocked.Now my friend is saying he cannot make calls with ihs Tesco mobile sim.
Would the reset cancel the unlocking and revert the phone back to locked to a network?

I've ever played with root and I guess I should have read up abit more about it.
Details = Followed instructions from a Youtube video, and got a CyanogenMod. Pretty cool and all, but wanted to try another. Used the same method described in the youtube video to get this Fresh rom i keep hearing good reports about. Liked it, but now wanted to do a factory reset, and it goes back to the previous, CyanogenMod.

I Finally rooted my Sprint HTC hero and was happy after two hours of figuring it out. Well I did a factory reset and I accidentally removed the two IM apps and now my home screen wont load it says the HTC sense has stopped unexpectedly.

Why a Froyo factory reset really isn't (plus, a fix for upgrade issues) | Android Central Its in reference to the X but I am going to factory reset tonight and see what happens."If you're one of those folks who is less than pleased with your Droid X after the Froyo update, this one's for you. Android Central Forums member Fabrian was at wit's end, and even talked of ditching his X (blasphemy!) because of the random bugs, general weirdness, and plain old unsatisfactory performance of his unit since the update.His last-ditch effort and ingenuity seems to have paid off. The secret? He has completely disabled the Froyo feature that restores data from previous installs. It's really just a matter of turning off the automatic restore feature before logging back into your Google account. It's a little odd that "Automatic Restore" is still checked by default, even when "Back up my data" isn't, but there you go.The method isn't too painful and does require one more factory reset, but the payoff appears to be a much smoother experience. Makes sense, too restoring data from Eclair to Froyo probably isn't a very good idea even if it is convenient.
We've verified it here, a hard reset in Froyo isn't really a hard reset, as things come back by themselves. Follow Fabrian's instructions, and you will have a pristine Froyo installation on your Droid X (or Nexus One -- Sense on Froyo has no setting for this that we could find). Any troublemaking leftovers will be no more, and won't get downloaded and installed automatically again. If you're being plagued with myriad tiny bugs in your Droid X after the update, give it a try! The contact photos shown during calls are very blur. The photos will appear blur if:
- selected from album on phone (I made it as large as 150x150)
- synced from Outlook
- shot with phone camera
The photos only appear very clear if FaceBook photos are used (so limited only to contacts with FaceBook accounts). Is there a way to overcome this?

I rooted my phone and flashed with Fresh 1.1 yesterday, and so far so good, I'm loving it. However, I noticed that my texting applications, Handcent SMS (as well as the stock messaging app), they no longer showing my contact's photos. It just shows a blank profile image of a head, with a question mark in the upper righthand corner (the stock messaging app is the same, just a dark silhouette instead of contact photo now). My contact's photos are all still in my phone, they work fine and are viewable in the "people" application (both FB photos and my own photos that I've assigned to contacts), or when I'm making a phone call, but in both messaging applications they don't have images anymore. I've verified in the Handcent SMS that "Display contact picture" is enabled (I've tried disabling it, then redisplaying it at both sizes... still no luck). I've also tried uninstalling Handcent SMS, then reinstalling the application from Market, still no luck. Any suggestions on how to get those back? I'm thinking that since it's not working in either messaging application, that it has something to do with the contact photos database (which I don't even know if something like that exists).

I have a HTC Hero running the latest 1.5 software off of HTC site. One thing I have noticed, is that if I have any photos associated with a contact, the photo is heavily pixelated when it is displayed via an incoming/outgoing call.
I am using Gmail Sync to push email, calender and contacts. If I use the Pre or iPhone, then it shows up fine.
Is this a known bug? I have tried re-creating the image on the Hero - but once I select the area, it pixelates it again.

Anyone know if I can do a hard reset w/o the touchscreen?
I drowned my Sprint Hero in Diesel fuel last week, & before I return it to Asurion / Sprint I'd like to erase all of my personal data from the phone. The trackball & keys work most of the time, but I can't seem to click or highlight the "erase everything" button. Touchscreen is totally non functional.

Long time Droid user, brand new to the Fascinate Forum. I just bought my wife a Samsung Fascinate and I have to say the thing is absolutely phenomenal! It makes my Motorola Droid look like a 1990's flip phone!! Except for one problem the darned thing has been automatically spontaneously performing a factory reset / hard reset on itself.And it is happening at completely random times. You're sitting there playing a game, you're reading your e-mail or you just pushed the screen ON / power button to wake the phone up and unlock it and then, all of a sudden The phone reboots to the black and white Samsung startup screen, then recovery pops up and yellow writing appears that says "Formatting FOTA:", "Formatting DATA:", "Formatting CACHE:". Then the phone reboots again and comes up like you just pulled it out of the box; a full factory reset / hard reset. The contents of the SD card are thankfully fine.Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to turn on some sort of logging so that maybe I can figure out what causes it? This is now the second phone that this is happening to. We took the first phone back to Verizon the very same day we got it and they swapped it out right there for another brand new one. The second phone behaved perfectly for three whole days before it went and wiped itself. We thought for sure that the problem was with the first phone, but now it is happening with the second phone.I am going to start from scratch again, adding one app at a time making sure the thing continues to work. How do I make my contact photo stay as the google photo.I have several contacts who are linked to facebook contacts and have selected the google image are their main photo. Unfortunately some of the contacts seem to keep changing back to the facebook photo after a short while, whilst others remain OK.I have been struggling with this for quite some time, each time I change the selected image back to google but it always changes itself back.

I just installed Astro File Manager, and I can't find where the Eris stores photos taken with the camera. I have a folder called 'Photos' on my SD card, but that only has photos I copied to it from my PC. (so I could use them as wallpaper). When I use the Albums app, it lets me choose the Photos folder on my SD card, or a folder called 'Camera shots' with 29 photos in it (that I took with the Eris camera), but I don't see that folder anywhere with Astro , even when trying a file search.

Is there anyway to change where the Videos and Photos taken with the camera is stored. My phone is rooted and flashed with the JI2 firmware and also loaded with the Captivate camera app. Currently photos and videos are both being put in the Internal SD's "camera" folder under DCIM and I'd like to make videos be saved elsewhere.

i'm planning to return the evo 4g tomorrow and cancel my ontract with sprint since i'm within 30 days trial. nothing is wrong with sprint and evo 4g. i love their service and especially the beautiful phone. but i've decided to get the nexus one and stay on t-mobile's cheaper family plan until my parent's contract ends. so the question is, how do i factory reset it to the way it was before i got it? and are there anything i need to know beforehand?
