I've recently got a Hero and have to say so far I've very happy with it.But during set-up I entered one of my Gmail account details, but now realise my other account would have been a better choice.Aside from my dumb-arse-ery, I'd like to confirm if it's possible to alter the Gmail account, without having to do a factory reset?

Just ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I tried to remove (settings->accounts & sync) the gmail account that was used during the initial phone setup, it prompted this message -> Remove account. This account is required by some applications. You can only delete it by resetting the phone to factory defaults. I would like to change it to another gmail account. Is such a drastic move (reset to factory default) necessary? Any workaround?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have had my droid X for about 3 weeks now. I want to learn though, and i figure this is a good place to do it. I love my phone. but it confuses me. And Ive had some issues that Ive seen a lot of other people have had since i updated to froyo. My biggest issues are my gmail dosen't seem to be getting new emails to my phone, the text messages being all goofy, and I don't really like the way the screen will rotate to view the other landscape way. I've seen people talk about doing a factory reset. What exactly does that do? And will i lose my contacts and such? Also, what does it mean to root a phone? I looked around but couldn't seem to find any answers.

I re setup my account through htc mail and active sync and its working great my only problem is that It wont let me delete my account from the gmail app.I'd prefer not to have mail flowing in through 2 apps.It's telling me I have to do a factory reset in order to delete it.Is there any way around this?

I've taken these photos with the contacts app, using the camera, and they are the ones that appear when an incoming call is made. View 13 Replies View RelatedI had a HTC Hero which I sold to a friend.Before sending him the phone I Goolged how to log my Google account out of the Hero so that my friend could log in under his account.The answer I found on a multitude of website was to perform a hard reset of the phone, back to factory setting.As such, I performed the Factory Reset but the phone was originally Unlocked.Now my friend is saying he cannot make calls with ihs Tesco mobile sim.
Would the reset cancel the unlocking and revert the phone back to locked to a network?

Details = Followed instructions from a Youtube video, and got a CyanogenMod. Pretty cool and all, but wanted to try another. Used the same method described in the youtube video to get this Fresh rom i keep hearing good reports about. Liked it, but now wanted to do a factory reset, and it goes back to the previous, CyanogenMod.
I Finally rooted my Sprint HTC hero and was happy after two hours of figuring it out. Well I did a factory reset and I accidentally removed the two IM apps and now my home screen wont load it says the HTC sense has stopped unexpectedly.

Android Central Forums member Fabrian was at wit's end, and even talked of ditching his X (blasphemy!) because of the random bugs, general weirdness, and plain old unsatisfactory performance of his unit since the update.His last-ditch effort and ingenuity seems to have paid off. The secret? He has completely disabled the Froyo feature that restores data from previous installs. It's really just a matter of turning off the automatic restore feature before logging back into your Google account. It's a little odd that "Automatic Restore" is still checked by default, even when "Back up my data" isn't, but there you go.The method isn't too painful and does require one more factory reset, but the payoff appears to be a much smoother experience. Makes sense, too restoring data from Eclair to Froyo probably isn't a very good idea even if it is convenient.
We've verified it here, a hard reset in Froyo isn't really a hard reset, as things come back by themselves. Follow Fabrian's instructions, and you will have a pristine Froyo installation on your Droid X (or Nexus One -- Sense on Froyo has no setting for this that we could find). Any troublemaking leftovers will be no more, and won't get downloaded and installed automatically again. If you're being plagued with myriad tiny bugs in your Droid X after the update, give it a try! I drowned my Sprint Hero in Diesel fuel last week, & before I return it to Asurion / Sprint I'd like to erase all of my personal data from the phone. The trackball & keys work most of the time, but I can't seem to click or highlight the "erase everything" button. Touchscreen is totally non functional.
Long time Droid user, brand new to the Fascinate Forum. I just bought my wife a Samsung Fascinate and I have to say the thing is absolutely phenomenal! It makes my Motorola Droid look like a 1990's flip phone!! Except for one problem the darned thing has been automatically spontaneously performing a factory reset / hard reset on itself.And it is happening at completely random times. You're sitting there playing a game, you're reading your e-mail or you just pushed the screen ON / power button to wake the phone up and unlock it and then, all of a sudden The phone reboots to the black and white Samsung startup screen, then recovery pops up and yellow writing appears that says "Formatting FOTA:", "Formatting DATA:", "Formatting CACHE:". Then the phone reboots again and comes up like you just pulled it out of the box; a full factory reset / hard reset. The contents of the SD card are thankfully fine.Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to turn on some sort of logging so that maybe I can figure out what causes it? This is now the second phone that this is happening to. We took the first phone back to Verizon the very same day we got it and they swapped it out right there for another brand new one. The second phone behaved perfectly for three whole days before it went and wiped itself. We thought for sure that the problem was with the first phone, but now it is happening with the second phone.I am going to start from scratch again, adding one app at a time making sure the thing continues to work. Is their any way to alter the stock keyboard? I like that it has the smile faces but they're not the Android faces. Id rather not use the text when I want the cool looking Android faces
Its not a big enough problem that id pay for "better keyboard" if its different there and I just switched to handcent so I don't have to go to more in the menu to get to the android smiles without typing them out all the way.
i'm planning to return the evo 4g tomorrow and cancel my ontract with sprint since i'm within 30 days trial. nothing is wrong with sprint and evo 4g. i love their service and especially the beautiful phone. but i've decided to get the nexus one and stay on t-mobile's cheaper family plan until my parent's contract ends. so the question is, how do i factory reset it to the way it was before i got it? and are there anything i need to know beforehand?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI find that my battery progressively gets worse and worse until I'll ultimately doing a factor reset and it fixes it. It really doesn't make sense to me. I don't use very few applications. The thing is it's always a downward progression. This is the 4th time I've done a factory reset and I will get 16-24 hours no problem. But the last week I've been getting 6-8 hours. It does this everytime, just gets progressively worse until I reset it and it's fine again. It really does only take me about 15 minutes to completely factory reset my phone and getting it back to the exact working condition as before though so that's not bad. This is not a "oh I haven't charged my phone it 37 hours nananan" threads or any other battery life battle. Just want to see if anyone else has noticed this.
