Just ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.

So I did a factory reset and all of my downloaded applications were still there. I thought it clears all of your downloaded apps and it was supposed to clear all of my settings. Such as display and sound settings which it also didn't do. Is this the way its supposed to work or not.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSince updating to Froyo on my Droid X, I've noticed my camera's autofocus won't work at all. I first noticed this because the barcode scanner can't read bar codes anymore because they are too blurry. I want to try a factory wipe to see if that fixes it. I just did a factory wipe 2 weeks ago and it erased all of my applications and settings and was a huge pain to reinstall everything. Is there a way to backup these apps, so I can just automatically re-download them after I do the wipe?

But when verizon tried doing a reset it didn't work. All the previous guys stuff is still on it. And because of that I can't get rid of his email address so I can't access the market to get apps because I don't know his password. It seems he put a Launcher2 Mod on it and I can't get it off.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter I received the OTA to 2.1 I have noticed more lag when scrolling between home screens, using 2D games is painful with the framerate reduction, and many items that are running in the background without me ever starting them. I also cannot seem to keep them closed either. I can also say that I am getting worse battery life now than I was with 2.0.1. I was wondering what would actually happen if I rebooted into Recovery Mode and did a Factory Reset with Data Wipe. Would this possibly help with the update causing these problems that were not there before?

Well I have evidently rebooted and wiped the usr data and done a factory reset. However it says I'm still rooted. It seems like I'm half rooted. How do I get this baby back to fully rooted.
View 21 Replies View Relatedso i had been having problems with the whole random rebooting issue that some people on the droid x have been having, so i called tech support and i had tried everything that they had suggested except the factory data reset. i was hesitant to do that because it just seems like doing something like that would never let me get my phone to working the way that it used to work. you know the way i had everything set up. well after the phone kept rebooting on its own i decided i would give it a shot. sure enough the phone just doesnt seem to be running the same as it did before. the phone seems to lag more, i am having to touch icons several times at times to make them work. task killer isnt running the way that it should. it just seems like the factory data reset made everything on the phone work just a little bit worse. has anyone else had this experience?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI cleaned a bunch of files with Titanium Backup and have have backups of the uninstalled apps which include my default gallery (I had another gallery app), Homescreen Launcher and some others.
By mistakenly I reset my phone to factory settings and now after resetting I cannot access any functions. Since I had deleted the launcher. I am having the files of the launcher though but since the phone has USB Debugging turned off and Google Account not set, I am not able to do anything!! Is there any update.zip kind of file to reinstall the launcher? I am using Motorola Fire XT311 which has locked bootloader so no Nandroids too !!
So I did the factory reset and reinstalled all my applications. Everything working fine so far. Previous glitches have not resurfaced. However, now Beautiful widget/HTC clock-weather is acting up. It keeps saying my GPS location is Vilnius. I'm no where near Lithuania. I've updated the progamming &roaming twice and toggled geo location multiple times.
View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter months of being really happy with 1.5, I ran with OTA 2.1 for about a week.... hated it! While I didn't see any outright bugs, the phone had hugely sluggish response, very poor battery life, etc. Finally decided to to the Factory Data Reset this morning, and voila - lovin' my Eris again.
Things to note:
Before Factory Data reset w/ 2.1 OTA:
- Phone uptime and awake time were almost equal (not good)
- Had the 50% without signal message
- 'Android System' always listed as top user of battery usage (60-70%)
- Even while idle, phone always felt 'warm' (like it was continually running a background process, as evidence by poor battery life)
After Factory Data reset w/ 2.1 OTA:
- Phone uptime and awake time now as expected (awaketime < uptime)
- No more 50% signal message
- Cell Standby and Phone Idle now top users of batter usage.
- Phone now cool to the touch while idle
One thing to note is even after the reset, I still had issues syncing Gmail contacts, and needed to delete the contacts cache.
While I won't conjecture about root cause, I'm hoping Google and VZ learn from this experience, as much of this mucking about is *way* beyond what most 'normal' users would put up with. My wife loves her iPhone and just laughs at me dealing with all this c**p. Besides, I can't remember the last time *she* had to reboot her phone..
It seems a lot of us are having issues after upping to 2.2. Someone suggested hard reset. My question is simple, will hard reset "restore" EVO back to factory settings, AKA 2.1? I mean when you bought the phone, 2.1 is "baked" in the internal memory. When you update to 2.2, will 2.2 also be "baked" in internal memory so that whenever you hard reset you will always go to 2.2 status? I think it is, but please clarify?

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have not yet gotten the OTA update for 2.2 on my phone, but I am assuming that it will be here soon and once I do get it I am also assuming that I will most likely need to do a factory reset after reading all the problems that members on here are encountering. Now I already have AppBrain installed and have my apps synced to my online account so I can easily download them again if I do a factory reset. My questions however though are the following 1) Is there any way to preserve application data such as the notes I had in a notepad application before doing a factory reset? 2) Is there any way to keep calendar data and contact data if they were inputted as phone data entries and not synced via Google?

After 2 hours on the phone with VZW tech support, I can make calls, but have no data connection. They are sending me a "new" one. The concensus of the VZW tech and myself, problem with my phone. 2 days later, my wife resets her phone because of memory usage issues (she had to much on it). Same exact thing happened to her. Being the fiesty woman that she is she is going to a VZW store today to raise holy hell and throughorly degrade the poor rep that she is going to talk to, to get some answers. My question to all my fine fellow Eris users, have you seen this before? If in our position, do we deserve a new phone, and not an eris? Will this happen with a replacement eris due to a fault in the 2.1 update?

I had switched ROMs, between about three of them the past week, and didn't do a full wipe, just to be safe. But the phone was starting to get real slow, regardless of the ROM, so I just did a factory reset using Clockwork Recovery and now I don't seem to be getting 3G anymore. I can still get data, just at 1X. It'll say "3G" when idle, but once I'm browsing, it bumps down to 1X again. This couldn't possibly be what was suggested not to do for 2.1 owners, was it? Despite being on 2.2?

Android Central Forums member Fabrian was at wit's end, and even talked of ditching his X (blasphemy!) because of the random bugs, general weirdness, and plain old unsatisfactory performance of his unit since the update.His last-ditch effort and ingenuity seems to have paid off. The secret? He has completely disabled the Froyo feature that restores data from previous installs. It's really just a matter of turning off the automatic restore feature before logging back into your Google account. It's a little odd that "Automatic Restore" is still checked by default, even when "Back up my data" isn't, but there you go.The method isn't too painful and does require one more factory reset, but the payoff appears to be a much smoother experience. Makes sense, too restoring data from Eclair to Froyo probably isn't a very good idea even if it is convenient.
We've verified it here, a hard reset in Froyo isn't really a hard reset, as things come back by themselves. Follow Fabrian's instructions, and you will have a pristine Froyo installation on your Droid X (or Nexus One -- Sense on Froyo has no setting for this that we could find). Any troublemaking leftovers will be no more, and won't get downloaded and installed automatically again. If you're being plagued with myriad tiny bugs in your Droid X after the update, give it a try! some people are saying that a factory reset can help with the lagging after the 2.2 update.. is it ok to do the factory reset with my phone being rooted??? is there any steps i should take before i do the reset?? i get that i should prolly back up the phone settings and what not which i will also have to figure out.. but lets just start with the first question... will factory resetting my phone that is rooted screw anything up?
View -1 Replies View RelatedSo I installed PandaBeta for the Droid, and although it was cool, I uninstalled it because it was lacking the features I really wanted (it is in beta after all). After I uninstalled it, my phone has been acting semi goofy, and I noticed there are some new things that show up in Taskiller that weren't there before:
1.) Google Partner Setup (I don't even know what this is)
2.) com.google.android.apps.maps:FriendService
3.) Bluetooth Share (I never use bluetooth)
4.) com.weather.Weather:gadgetPrivateProcess
5.) Voice Dialer
6.) com.Twidroid:remote
Now I don't know if those are supposed to be there, but if they are supposed to be there, they were never there UNTIL I installed PandaBeta. My big issue though is I have noticed my phone acting semi weird (could have just been a fluke). I just made a 1 hour phone call and when I went to hangup, the screen never woke up. So I hit the unlock button, nothing happened. I open the keyboard, nothing happened. The phone was on because when I opened the keyboard, the keyboard was backlit. This never happened before the uninstall. Anyway, is there anyway to restore the Droid to the initial state? In other words a factory reset of the OS? I don't care if I loose all data, since everything I have is on the Google Cloud anyway.
I just factory reset due to all the problems i was having on 2.2. When it started up, I got a welcome to droid screen, about how to use my droid and set it up. When I got my phone the first time I never got any of this?
