I Finally rooted my Sprint HTC hero and was happy after two hours of figuring it out. Well I did a factory reset and I accidentally removed the two IM apps and now my home screen wont load it says the HTC sense has stopped unexpectedly.

Anyone know if I can do a hard reset w/o the touchscreen?
I drowned my Sprint Hero in Diesel fuel last week, & before I return it to Asurion / Sprint I'd like to erase all of my personal data from the phone. The trackball & keys work most of the time, but I can't seem to click or highlight the "erase everything" button. Touchscreen is totally non functional.
My Hero is in a startup loop. Has anyone else ever had this problem? What is the fix. I can't get the phone to start up so that I can do a factory reset. Is there anyway to do a manual factory reset?

Used the same method described in the youtube video to get this Fresh rom i keep hearing good reports about. View 8 Replies View RelatedNot sure if this is because of the ROM I'm using or because I'm rooted, but I can't do a factory reset on my phone. If I try it, the phone reboots and locks into a boot loop. I can pull the battery, but then it boot loops again. I've basically got to boot into recovery mode and reflash a usable ROM or backup to get the phone working again. Is this because I'm rooted or is this because of the ROM I'm using (Skyraider)?

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy galaxy s4 has recently been very slow so I thought that I would try a factory data reset to clear some things up. However, my phone is rooted. Now when I looked around on some other forums it seemed as though that I didn't have to worry about factory resetting the phone while it was rooted. But when I went ahead and did so it no longer will boot. Its stuck in the boot loop/download mode/ whatever you may call it. I can't seem to flash a recovery file through Odin either. My phone is gone now.

After rooting my cellphone, I had WhatsApp install and uninstalled couple of times, which led to some corruption as well. Thought of clearing the space by "Factory Reset" option with an intention of retrieving the built in apps.But after I did this, runs a process of resetting and when it restart it stuck at the main screen where HTC comes out on the display. My cell phone is not running beyond this screen. Cellphone screen is still on and displaying the "htc" only.

Now, I need to perform a factory data reset just to remove the Google account associated with it. Is it safe to do so or will I lose any further system apps or worse, brick my phone? I have the apk's of the system apps that I removed, but for some reason I am not able to restore/install all of them. I used ES File Explorer back then to remove those apps. View 2 Replies View RelatedI father-in-law has an Atrix 2 and the screen was in perfect condition. It was running extremely slow, so i did a factory reset for him. There is now a weird mark on his screen that seems to get bigger everyday. I told him it has nothing to do with the factory reset, but I believe he may have had it in his one cargo pocket and press against something. There is no visible damage to the exterior of the screen. I have attached a photo to see what it could possibly be if it is not from physical damage.

I'm pretty sure that other carriers didn't force a hard reset, but hey ho, cest la vie. Anyway, could anyone post me an idiot's guide to what I need to back up, and how I go about it? With regard to contacts everything's Gmail and there are no contacts stored on the phone.
