I could use a little help. I carry my EVO in my pocket, and am constantly answering calls that I do not know are incoming. It seems the phone is rubbing against my leg and answering the call. Obviously locking the phone does not help, since you can answer a call without unlocking the phone. Anyone know an app, or alternative solution to keep this from happening?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo before the update yesterday, I loved my Captivate. GPS worked great as did the rest of the phone. I figured since getting the update message, I would go for it. During the update the service was pretty bad in the office so I canceled the download to continue it when I got home. When I went to continue, it automatically rebooted my phone and applied the partially downloaded FW and completely bricked the phone.
Since last night, I have exchanged my Captivate twice. Each time the phones have major issues. Forget about locking onto satellites, it can't even get any in view in the middle of the street. On my current phone, forget not being able to connect to AT&T servers for the update, I can't even connect to Android Market...
I spoke with AT&T and the CS Rep made a special note on my account that told the store to not let me leave until I have a phone that has functional GPS, updates and fixes whatever issues I have. Additionally I was offered a credit to my account for the inconvenience. Add to that the CS Rep made a note to call me on my 30th day to make sure everything is working and if not, we will see where we go from there (cancel, extend the return period...).
Now I'm not sure what to do. I will try one more exchange but if that doesn't work, I'm considering going back to my dumbphone for now... I doubt I will get an iPhone4 and after 4 Captivates, don't think I will keep exchanging.
Sorry to vent my frustrations but this has been an aggravating couple days - even more so that my bricked phone worked great in all aspects.

The Remotecall app in Playstore still requires me to pick up my phone in order to actually hear something..
its got all the other features i'd like to use: answer calls from my PC, make calls from pc (from , for example, the outlook contactlist), call Log capability; but i have to pick up my phone when i probably can just hear it through my headphone (connected to PC)
I think i should be looking for some sort of voip server on my phone and let my computer act as voip client, but i'm not entirely sure about that.
Often times when my phone rings. when I pick it up I can hear the person that's calling coming thru the speaker before I answer. It's almost like the phone is partly answering itself.

Note: I had to play around with it a bit to replicate the problems because sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.
I can classify the problems into two categories. 1) When the screen is off when the phone is ringing. and 2) When the screen is on and I see Caller Id etc...
1) Behavior when the screen is off when the phone is ringing:
First off, I'm not sure why sometimes the screen is on or off when it's ringing. I keep the phone in my pocket so I wonder if its the "proximity detector" some people have mentioned. When I pull the phone out of my pocket, sometimes the screen turns on, sometimes it doesn't. Yet sometimes I can sneak a peek in my pocket at the caller ID. Anybody know what determines what makes the screen on or off when a call is coming in?
When the screen is off, the green answer button does nothing. This is particularly frustrating when the phone is in my hand with nothing in front of it to block the proximity detector, yet I cannot answer it. Giving the phone a little shake sometimes makes it tun on, bust sometimes doesn't. Maybe the shake effect is just coincidence.
Also, pressing the side buttons will not silence it like they do when the screen is on. The only button that works is the red one which sends the caller to voice mail.
2) Behavior when the screen is on and the phone is ringing:
Green button answers it, as it should.
Red button sends it to voice mail, as it should.
Side buttons silence it, as they should.
The home menu and back buttons send it directly to voice mail. This is frustrating if I'm pulling the phone out of my pocket ad accidentally brush one of those going for the green button. Anybody else have this problem?
Also I was reading on other threads about holding the red button until options come up. Mine does not do this. The red button just sends caller to voice mail no matter how long I hold it.
3) Sometimes my screen does not go to sleep. But stays on the "screen locked, pres menu to unlock" screen. This often happens after I miss a call, or just hit the red button to check the time and then set it down. But only sometimes and not others. Any clues?
I have only had it happen twice. When I answer by Droid, the caller can barely be heard. At first I thought there was no sound, but I could hear the caller, but just barely.
Anyone else have this problem?
Just bought my wife her first Android phone, an original Droid (A855). Seems they're on sale everyhwere since the release of the X. Anyway, she absolutely HATES that Motoblur green side-pulling tab thing for answering a phone call. She just can't seem to get the hang of it. Is there some way to change that, or is there an app available that will change the interface and just give her a simple button to push for answering a call?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having an awful time with my Eris when it comes to picking up calls and an even worse time dialing out. Everything is delayed after pressing keys. This morning I went to dial someone and when it didn't dial I set the phone down to use my office phone and then out of the corner of my eye I see it was calling the person. Once I had the person on the phone w/in a minute my cheek (I'm assuming) ended the call.
So the screen was in the call history list so I pressed his name again to call and it called the next person below on the list. It was probably adding his name to the call history and moved the list but because it was delayed it dialed the wrong person. I love this phone except for phone Calls. I'm going into Verizon today to complain. They will be able to tell from my call history how frequently I'm missing calls because the phone doesn't pick up and then I redial back. 5 calls back and forth for a 2 minute conversations!
I am having an intermittent problem where callers can't hear me for 6-10 seconds when they call. This is a t best embarrassing and frequently they hang up. As I say the problem is intermittent - sometimes the phone answers as usual. Interestingly, I can hear them talking (and usually saying 'hello? hello?) but they can't hear me and I just keep saying hello until they hang up or until the sound kicks in and we can converse.
I did a factory reset with no improvement, and have also downloaded the PC updater and updated the system with no improvement. Then, I spoke to a friend the other night who described an identical problem with his X10.
I just got my Motorola Droid 2 weeks ago and I've been having problems answering phone calls about half the time. When I answer them I hear no sound at all that's pretty much it lol I have the volume up so I'm positive its not that xD plz help this is getting annoying.

Sometimes I can finally answer before it goes to voicemail, sometimes not. When I test it by calling myself, the phone rings for the caller 3 times before my phone starts ringing, the screen goes dark, and it finally vibrates, not rings, but the time the caller has heard 5 rings.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently bought this phone from Rogers (I still have a week to test this thing out to make sure it's not broken) I'm noticing that answering incoming calls can sometimes take up to 20 seconds before the other side can hear me! I can make calls and people can hear me as soon as the call begins but I'm answering the phone after it has shut itself down (I mean the screen goes dark and then I need to slide the slider on the screen to answer the call) SOMETIMES there will be a few seconds delay, sometimes nothing but I've had up to 20 seconds delay on multiple occasions I'm running 1.6, and from the sounds of it, we won't get 2.1 until next month but is ANYONE else getting these issues? Should I return this phone for another? This is inexcusable and I am having too many callers hang up the phone on me because they think they have a bad connection but in reality there is a delay before they can hear me.

One of the "features" of my Curve that I'm having trouble duplicating on the Incredible is this: I was able to set a timeout to lock the phone and a separate timeout to blacken the screen. That is, if the screen went black after 30 seconds of inactivity, the screen wouldn't necessarily lock until 30 minutes of inactivity. I have increased the screen timeout on my Incredible, but the screen doesn't dim at all. I tried installing the No Lock application, but now I can't find a way to manually lock the phone if necessary.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI woke up today to see that my phone was locked up. I removed the battery and let it reboot, it goes back to the lock screen I have, shows the time/cell status. And then it immediately locks up. I'm able to get it into recovery mode and I wiped the cache, but no dice. I don't want to reset the data because I have some important sms messages that I'd like to back up, but I can't access the data folder in recovery mode it seems.
Is there a way to backup the data folder in recovery mode? Or another way to get the phone to not freeze on startup? I'm assuming something just got corrupt. I am able to connect to it via ADB in recovery mode just fine, but can't pull my data directory or use the su commands (permission denied). Phone is stock, except I did root it.
I've read somewhere on these forums over the past three days that a gesture can be used as a password for locking and unlocking the phone. Where do I find docs for this as I can't find it in the decide settings.

i can't for example put a music folder or video folder or excel file in it to prevent unauthorised viewing and stuff.

I take the phone out, turn it on and nothing...no notifications, no calls, nothing. I try pressing everywhere on the phone, power on/off switch, volume rocker, all around the phone front, back, sides, top, bottom and every combination I can think of but I can't duplicate the sounds. Also, the sound is unlike any that I can find on the phone Anyone have any ideas about what to do? Much as I love the SF, if this continues, it will be returned!

This seems to happen regularly. The calls are always to the person who last called me. View 5 Replies View RelatedMy phone starting locking yesterday and on pressing the home putting brings up the message reactivating phone & brings up the Sony Ericsson start up screen. Then shoes "Emergency Nos Only". It won't receive texts but I am able to send them. Calls appear to be working ok other than I had a couple of missed calls yesterday which apparently rang once and then said phone is switched off. I have done a reset but it's still the same. I've also had a problem with apps appearing on the home screen without me putting them there - I had four digital clocks on it yesterday. Is this a software problem?
