I've read somewhere on these forums over the past three days that a gesture can be used as a password for locking and unlocking the phone. Where do I find docs for this as I can't find it in the decide settings.

So I have had my phone for 5 days, do not know how I used a BB before. My phone has been locking up and rebooting about twice a day after I started loading up apps on the 3rd day .Is there a way to see what programed crashed the phone?I guess I could go back one by one and start taking them off, but is there any other way that is not such a pia to see what is causing this

Are there any Droid users out there that are having trouble tracking and locking their phone with the Wave Secure? It backed up my info fine but it can't locate or lock my phone in both Firefox and IE. I installed Mobile Defense before I installed Wave Secure to test them both out but I've heard of ppl running them both with no problems.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy son was playing with my phone a few days ago. When I got it back, and turned the screen back on, wavesecure had locked the phone. I asked my son how he turned it on, he said all he did was put the phone into airplane mode. Wierd I thought.
Was flying yesterday. Purposely put the phone in airplane mode. Turned phone back on, and wow, wavesecure had locked it again.
I know this isn't a feature! Has this happened to anyone else. I have uninstalled Wavescure. BTW, this issue of airplane mode and wavesecure has not happened to me until this week. I have had wavesecure on my phone since nov, and have used airplane mode without these issues.
Any app that can password lock mobile data?
Basically my brother's mates racked up a $100 data bill using youtube so I would like to disable mobile data and lock it with a password or similar, I would just change the APN but I'm sure they could figure that one out.
I had to change the password for my Gmail account. I can't seem to figure out how to change the password on the phone. The only option I see is to reset the phone. I can't delete and reinstall the gmail account because it is the default account for the phone. I really hope I don't have to reset this thing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI call my voicemail and before I am allowed to enter my password I have to unlock the screen. When I finish a call I have to unlock the screen before I hang up. When I leave a voicemail I have to unlock the screen before I hang up! This is driving me nuts!

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo my End Call button no longer locks the phone today. I always hit it because I am trying to squeeze all I can from the battery. I did install the Not Call Log app because I wanted the button to return to Home instead of the default, but I did uninstall it. If I long press the button, it still brings up the menu to Power Off, Airplane mode, etc. It just does not quick lock the phone, which I really like.
More info: The end call button does re-lock the phone (turn off the screen) when it is already locked, but still does nothing when I am sitting on the Home screen (when I really want to lock the thing).
Is there any way to get my Droid to only lock the screen when I manually hit the lock button? If using it as a mp3 player for instance it's horrible to have to unlock it over and over again every time I want to skip a track or something.

The password screen locks and when it asks for the user name and password it states invalid user name / password!
Is this a known problem since when I called and talked to both Verizon and HTC the only thing they could tell me was to do a hard reset and they weren't aware of this problem?
I have been trying to get more information on what Android 2.0's capabilities are around its ability to sync with Exchange. My company requires PIN locking and remote wipe in order to sync, but it seems nearly impossible to find out of this is a supported feature within 2.0. Has anyone tried this with a similar set of Exchange policies that may have tested 2.0 or the Droid itself?

Is there a way to extend the time between total blackout and locking? Is there a way to turn off auto screen lock all together but keep the auto fade out and auto black out? I am always able to remember to manually lock the screen and the auto lock is annoying but I still like the power saving of the screen fade and black out.

One of the "features" of my Curve that I'm having trouble duplicating on the Incredible is this: I was able to set a timeout to lock the phone and a separate timeout to blacken the screen. That is, if the screen went black after 30 seconds of inactivity, the screen wouldn't necessarily lock until 30 minutes of inactivity. I have increased the screen timeout on my Incredible, but the screen doesn't dim at all. I tried installing the No Lock application, but now I can't find a way to manually lock the phone if necessary.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI woke up today to see that my phone was locked up. I removed the battery and let it reboot, it goes back to the lock screen I have, shows the time/cell status. And then it immediately locks up. I'm able to get it into recovery mode and I wiped the cache, but no dice. I don't want to reset the data because I have some important sms messages that I'd like to back up, but I can't access the data folder in recovery mode it seems.
Is there a way to backup the data folder in recovery mode? Or another way to get the phone to not freeze on startup? I'm assuming something just got corrupt. I am able to connect to it via ADB in recovery mode just fine, but can't pull my data directory or use the su commands (permission denied). Phone is stock, except I did root it.
I could use a little help. I carry my EVO in my pocket, and am constantly answering calls that I do not know are incoming. It seems the phone is rubbing against my leg and answering the call. Obviously locking the phone does not help, since you can answer a call without unlocking the phone. Anyone know an app, or alternative solution to keep this from happening?

i got b-folder... but you can only lock stuff you created using b-folder in it..
i can't for example put a music folder or video folder or excel file in it to prevent unauthorised viewing and stuff.
How can i shut off the password to unlock the phone. With 1.5 the patter wasn't as annoying as having to type a password every time my phone sleeps and then i want to do something and have to type a password every time.
Can i shut this off. I can't find it under security settings.
Change the voicemail number in the settings. E.g. if your password is 1234 put *86,,,1234#, (, is pause - you must put a pause after the # - otherwise it won't work) I have tried that advice and still cant get it to work. I have put from 1 to 4 pauses inbetween the 86 and the passcode. That still isnt working. I hear no attempt for the phone to put in the passcode.
View 5 Replies View RelatedOn my Droid 1 and Fascinate, I am able to program in my Voice Dial password and long press 1 on the dialer keypad to call voicemail and have my password entered automatically.I can still enter my password in the X's Menu, Settings, Call Settings, Voicemail Settings, Voicemail Number. However, the dialer that comes up when I press the shortcut icon I have setup in my LP dock brings up the Blur dialer? Whatever it is, the voicemail password does not get entered automatically and I have to still manually enter my password.Does anyone know how to get the VM password to enter automatically, or to disable the Blur dialer and get the stock Android dialer back?

For a few real and a few imagined problems yesterday I went on-line and changed my gmail password. Then I tried to find on my X where to update the new password. After looking in what I thought was everywhere I called tech support and they said it was hard coded. I would need to "wipe" the phone and start fresh. Some words about lost data as well.
He suggested tring to get back to the original password which gmail allowed without resetting a few more times. After thinking about this though, there are more than a few good reasons to change passwords and this seems a bit on the dumb side to me.
Was he wrong or is the OS wrong to have this hard wired? Since Google runs this whole thing doesn't it seem like they should make it a tad more user friendly if that is the case?
As we know that Android phone gets locked after screen timeout. But I want to lock the phone on demand as well. i.e. without waiting for screen timeout to occur.. As in nexus android phone there is hard button on top for making screen turn off and lock the phone. i have to do same functionality but by using soft key i.e. in a programmatic way. What are the APIs or routines that can help me ? Can someone point me for getting this functionality?

As a Droid newbie, so far I love this phone, except I'm a little disappointed with the "locking pattern" used to secure the phone. View 5 Replies View RelatedMy phone starting locking yesterday and on pressing the home putting brings up the message reactivating phone & brings up the Sony Ericsson start up screen. Then shoes "Emergency Nos Only". It won't receive texts but I am able to send them. Calls appear to be working ok other than I had a couple of missed calls yesterday which apparently rang once and then said phone is switched off. I have done a reset but it's still the same. I've also had a problem with apps appearing on the home screen without me putting them there - I had four digital clocks on it yesterday. Is this a software problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've tried AutoLock and LockBot and maybe I didn't set an option correctly, but I can't seem to get a password or pattern unlock after a reboot/power off/on cycle.Both work fine during normal power on operations, but when I power cycle the phone it just comes up with the normal swipe unlock right into an open Eris with no password/pattern required. Kind of defeats the purpose by allow a bypass of the security.Maybe I'm missing something here or having a Homer moment.
