HTC Hero :: How To Get Facebook Alerts?

I've had my Hero just over a month now and yesterday for the first time i received a facebook notification on my Hero. Since i have had my phone I've never seen this. I normally get a notification telling me that i have a new email which sometimes is an email from facebook telling me i have a new invite or what ever. But this notification was a facebook specific one, it had an icon of an 'F' (of Facebook). Does anyone know what option needs to be turned on so that you get Facebook notifications on your Hero? I obviously switched something on which is no longer running cause im no longer getting this notifications.

I cannot find where to change the ring tone for incoming SMS's, facebook alerts but will only give me standard ringtones. I have downloaded some for this to be applied but cannot find how to do it on my X10i.

Whenever I'm in area that doesn't get good service I put my phone in Evdo only instead of hybrid, but when I do the phone doesn't ring or and I don't get texts either is it supposed to be like this and is there any way to fix it? PS: I'm just running stock and not rooted or anything

Does anyone else find it annoying when your in a meeting or lecture or church and someone tries to turn down the volume on their phone, only to have the phone beep with every change in volume? Is there any way to turn off this volume response when using the volume controls on the side of the Sprint Hero? Likewise, any way to turn off the sound when turning the phone on/off?

I have the HTC Hero from Sprint. I am running the stock ROM from Sprint with the update that was released in Nov. Scenario:
Person X is in my contact list
I want sound file Y to play when I get a phone call from X
I want sound file Z to play when I get a text from X
(Note: For clarification Y and Z are not the same file. The sound file Z should be different depending on the person also. In other words can I set costume text alerts per person).
When you look at the contact in 'people' there is a setting for 'ring tone' I am not sure if this is just for incoming calls or if this is also for incoming texts from this person.

On my phone I have the Facebook app downloaded from the market. I also noticed that the phone comes bookmarked with Facebook.
So here is my question, under Menu>Settings>Social Network> Facebook appears there. I have that set to update every 12 hours.
HOWEVER, my actual Facebook App is set to update every 2 hours.
So... does the settings under Menu>Settings>Social Network>Facebook control my facebook app or just the bookmark that comes pre-installed on the phone?
I am trying to save battery life, and I noticed that the settings under Menu>Settings>Social Network>Facebook were set to update every hour, but I had the settings under the downloaded app to update every two hours. My goal is to have only one facebook medium updating so I don't drain battery life!

I just cleared all my browsing history, cache, form data and all that stuff. Then I went to my bookmarks, where I have the touch.facebook.com bookmarked. I type in my username and password and tap the "login" key. I see the green status bar at the bottom of the screen start to go, but the page just loops. It does not login. Just keeps refreshing... if that makes sense. What am I doing wrong ?

I have my phone to sync with facebook and i get all the contacts, but when i send a text, they dont send because the facebook contacts are 44********** instead of +44********** or 0**********, how can i delete the facebok contacts, because i cant edit or delete them, i have set them to not sync but they are still there.

Is there a way to transfer my Facebook Contacts into my people contacts? When I upgraded to 2.1, I forgot to sync a few contacts. The names show up, but as Facebook contacts and I want them as people contacts. Also, is there a way to delete Facebook contacts?

Pretty sure this is keeping my phone awake. I didn't do any long tests with it installed, but it appears like it won't go to sleep. The new app is pretty slick, but I won't use it if it keeps my phone awake.

Ever since I flashed to this ROM, I haven't been able to sync none of my contacts through the People app even though it says "all contacts synced" within Accounts & Sync. When I try to match a contact with their facebook account, "no matches" show and I don't even have a list of who I can choose.
Does this have something to do with the PRL not being 60663? Mines says 60662. I've tried every solution that was said in the forums. Delete then restart then readd the account. Still nothing.
Should I just reflash? I don't want to but my contacts look so boring without their pictures and statuses

Is seems like only contacts I have saved in my Google contacts are being linked. I thought The Hero would sync all information from my Facebook contacts. So even if I have not saved them I would be able to access their information on my phone, similarly to Palm's Synergy. Am I doing something wrong or is this the way it works?

Had my Hero for a few weeks now and overall loving it. Its Orange branded and updated to the latest ROM. Lately I've started to face this problem where Facebook (from Social Networks), keeps getting logged out every other second or so. Most of the times it just won't log-in with a 'Service not available, try again' sort of message. Also if I try to log in from the Contact, it behaves the same way.On the other hand, the Facebook widget and app are connected and working fine. This is really upsetting since I have many contacts on Facebook and having their pictures showing in the Contacts was a pretty handy feature for me.I've already reset it once, but to no avail. My Twitter and Flickr accounts remained signed in, whereas Facebook just doesn't. I've also tried signing in on an alternative Facebook account to isolate the issue, but the result was the same.Would love to hear from folks facing the same thing and what they did to resolve it. I've also put in a message with HTC.

i rooted my phone last night and now the htc facebook doesnt let me update myu contactes with their picture. it says updating but i only does it for 3 secs. please help i tried to do the app update and still the same thing.

I've had my HTC Hero for a couple of months and finally think I've got to grips with the majority of its features. One of the things I really liked when I originally set it up was the fact that my contacts in People would sync up with anyone it recognised as having a facebook account and therefore provided their profile picture and birthday info etc. However, a couple of weeks ago all these pictures suddenly disappeared and I've no idea why - I can still get onto facebook fine and my contacts all seem as they were except they're all pictureless and it's really starting to annoy me. Has anyone else experienced this or is there any setting I'm missing or something I've done wrong??
On a completely unrelated note (although I may well post this seperately), I've recenly downloaded Handcent SMS from the market as I'd read that this was a good alternative to the original messaging application, but I don't know how to set this as my default SMS app and to get rid of the original off my home screen.

Is there a way to use the facebook app without having it take over my whole phone? I logged into the facebook app, but now my contact list is full of facebook contacts, etc. Its kind of annoying. How can I make my facebook account STAY in the facebook app and not integrate with the rest of the phone? Alternately, is there an easier way to organize contact lists than doing it directly on the phone? Is there a desktop application that will make it easier to do things like make lists of contacts that actually have phone numbers and are not from facebook?

Just got the Hero with Vodafone and have had no real problems, just wondering when i link my saved google contacts with there FB profile via the Hero, it allows me to pull there FB picture through as well but this doesn't seem to be displaying? I have looked at sites about FB privacy settings but couple of my friends have not got there privacay settings turned on.. still no picture?

Is anyones phone keep logging them out of facebook. i go to people, scroll across to updates and events and it says log in to facebook recieve updates. i do this but i keeps logging me out on its own. its done this 5 times since the update.

I already turned off Facebook contacts from being viewed in my contacts list, however when I search, they still show up. This is especially difficult as they show up when sending an SMS through Chomp. The problem is my friends change their numbers but do not put it on their Facebook, so I'm getting both numbers in my phone. How do I delete these completely?

I just finished linking most of my phone contacts to their facebook account, and now i want to get all their birthdays into my google calendar, which i thought it did automatically when you linked a google contact to a facebook contact.So was looking for an app to do this and found this one:

The problem is then, that i live in Denmark where google/ HTC? haven't opened for the paying market, so i can only use free apps unless i root my Hero, which i won't.So do you guys know any similar programs that can do this, or a way i can get this app without rooting? I don't mind paying the 1$, I'm just not able to.
