Sprint HTC Hero :: Volume Control For Turning Off Sound Alerts
Nov 9, 2009Does anyone else find it annoying when your in a meeting or lecture or church and someone tries to turn down the volume on their phone, only to have the phone beep with every change in volume? Is there any way to turn off this volume response when using the volume controls on the side of the Sprint Hero? Likewise, any way to turn off the sound when turning the phone on/off?

It still plays a sound AND vibrates, and that's driving me nuts. 2) Is there a way for the "native" alert sound management software to recognize imported files for alerts? I've used a downloaded program that will allow me to pick song files, but it's use of them is inconsistent, even though when I go to the setting, it still has the file I chose listed.

Jan 18, 2010I've had my Hero just over a month now and yesterday for the first time i received a facebook notification on my Hero. Since i have had my phone I've never seen this. I normally get a notification telling me that i have a new email which sometimes is an email from facebook telling me i have a new invite or what ever. But this notification was a facebook specific one, it had an icon of an 'F' (of Facebook). Does anyone know what option needs to be turned on so that you get Facebook notifications on your Hero? I obviously switched something on which is no longer running cause im no longer getting this notifications.

Dec 2, 2009I have the HTC Hero from Sprint. I am running the stock ROM from Sprint with the update that was released in Nov. Scenario:
Person X is in my contact list
I want sound file Y to play when I get a phone call from X
I want sound file Z to play when I get a text from X
(Note: For clarification Y and Z are not the same file. The sound file Z should be different depending on the person also. In other words can I set costume text alerts per person).
When you look at the contact in 'people' there is a setting for 'ring tone' I am not sure if this is just for incoming calls or if this is also for incoming texts from this person.
HTC Hero :: No SMS Notification Sound?
Feb 22, 2010I'm pretty sure my Hero used to give me a beep when I got a new SMS, but it stopped at some point (a couple of weeks ago) and I haven't heard one since. I've tried re-setting the notification sound but it doesn't help.I'm getting other alerts (new mail, etc.) it's just SMS that doesn't play a sound. I've checked the volume level and it's set to the same as the phone ring level, which is fine. I'm wondering if I installed an app that killed it.

Oct 7, 2009I joined the forum a week or so ago, just before I got my new HTC Hero on Thursday and it's taken me until now to drag myself away from it to visit the forum again.
As much as I'm addicted to the phone, I was a bit disappointed the sound quality wasn't great- comes out a bit 'tinny'. I got myself some Sennheiser CX 500 earphones and it seems now the sound it much much better.
I just wondered what other people's experiences were with the music/sound quality on the Hero...
Also, if it's not too much to ask further, what music player do you use? I've got Rockon and the default player and kinda like them both but neither are perfect...
HTC EVO 4G :: How Does Sound Compare To Hero?
Aug 9, 2010So my Hero got stolen, and I'm considering the Evo (I'm on a waiting list right now). What concerns me, though, is that Ogg Vorbis isn't listed as a supported music file type for the Evo, unlike the Hero. Does the Evo really not do Ogg? That would be a deal killer for me, since all my music is in that format. Also, for those of you who've had the Hero, how is the sound quality of the Evo in comparison, and does it seem to put out the same amount of power? (The Hero drove my big Sennheiser 580 headphones just great all by itself- I would hate to have to get an amp.)P.S. I did some searching, and could not find these subjects covered.

Feb 16, 2010I'm having problems with the ear-speaker of my HTC Hero. It has been working great for near 4 months now then out of nowhere the ear-speaker stopped working yesterday. Whenever I try to make or receive a call I cannot hear the other person speaking. Oct 28, 2009this is mu 2nd hero phone and both will now not allow sound to come through headphone. At 1st the sound comes through great then np sound at all through headphones.
Today at lunch, I am walking outside aneto into 7-11 andfeel my phon3 vibrare and then no sound throuth the headphones. It's like the headphones are muted. When headphones are plugged in there is no symbol showing heaephones are plugged in.

Or a way to silence it at all? i thought i was in the right menu for changing it, but i didn't see anything about silencing it.I downloaded ringolite.. and it said to silence the normal one first, and i couldn't find where to silence it. just to change it to another stock sound.
